Instead of 2048, put a bigger number if you have more than 2048 mb ram and a 64bit sytem. It may fix an out of memory error. Also, the game will start faster thanks to the other two parameters.[/url]
BIS confirmed that putting a number higher than 2048 will just be ignored. After all, even on a 64bit OS, Arma 2 is still a 32bit executable!
They also said that the -maxmem command is for artificially limiting the amount of ram used rather than enlarging it.

How about the -winxp to ensure you use both GPU cores ?

Well on a 3.2ghz Q6600 with 4870x2 (-winxp switch under Windows 7 RC)@ 1900x1200

Can you ellaborate on that switch and what it does please? Im also running windows 7 RC 64bit. And havent managed DX10 is any games yet..

edit: does it just ensure all cores are used? and is it just the standard -winxp you put after the target field from a shortcut yeah?

Some info that some might find useful:

Put in these parameters to launch the game.
-nosplash -maxmem=2048 -world=empty

If you have a dual card or sli or crossfire, and have the feeling the game isn't using the multiple GPUs, use the -winxp parameter.

Also, for those who want to see some gameplay here is a battle video:

You can put any number you want into that switch , the game IGNORES anything more than 2048 , sadly :-(

Is the winxp switch on w7 necessary if not using sli or xfire?

Awesome video, cant wait to install this!!

No I don't think so

My 4870x2 uses both GPUs under Windows 7 with the -winxp parameter

Windows 7 RC1 gave about 20%-25% higher frame rate than Vista when I tested.
Both 64bit versions by the way.

-winxp switch doesn't always work but one thing that work for SLI setups, is renaming it to 'crysis.exe' that's how I got my 2nd GPU working - using 'facry2.exe' and some others gives worse performance than single GPU setups.

I been playing this game since 10 till now,I got to amit Graphics are stunning, but game play is poor, all i been doing mostly getting lost like helpless sheep, havent really kill anyone yet, might sell this game back to shop next weekend

just trying this and its amazing

was in some woods and was just the other side of a hill and it was much darker due to not getting any light - great immersion

why do any object > 20m away look like 320 resolution though ??

Wut?

Maybe its just not your kind of game then.
This is the best Tactical shooter ever made and the best fps since Stalker and Crysis.
If you like run-and-gun, I can recommend COD 4 and COD WaW.

With my experience of Operation Flashpoint, Arma etc these games come into their own in MP. Playing large scale campiagn maps is fantastic fun. The evolution maps from ARMA are brilliant. The MP coop maps always seem a bit plop when you first crank it up. Anybody tried this MP coop yet? what are the maps like?

mm mjust tried playing with some more settings - and I really don't understand why somethings look at 1900 res (which its set to) and others 320x ?!!

objects don't seem sharp at all
