*******Official Armed Assault 2 thread of official officialness*******

For those that aren't liking this game atm just remember that this is a sandbox game. The bugs need to be accepted as going with the territory here and will get fixed with each patch.

I've not played the game yet (waiting for the steam release!) but am a hardcore OFP vet. Although I never played Arma1 I can tell that, like with OFP, Arma2 is clearly going to be all about the mission editor. 99% of the good times I had playing OFP were because of the mission editor.

Co-op missions can be made, not just seeked out. I plan on making a few next week and playing them with a few mates. This is the sort of thing that you can only really do with these games.

All I'm saying is don't treat the campaign like it is the meat of the game. It really isn't. I doubt I'll play it that much myself!

Im linking this game but im struggling. Im on the mission Razor 2 i think, the one where you have to find the evidence and the two guys. Ive gone to see the bloke in the base and hes marked some red crossed on my map. How do i set way points to these, i clicked on the map and i got a black x but when i exit the map i have no way-point arrow but the black mark on the map is still there.

Thanks.

Just use your GPS grid coordinates and the compass.

Vista 64 is by far the worst OS for the game - I have tried both. Xp is the best and then Win 7

I must be lucky, running vista 64 with below config and getting lovely frame rates on around 2000 draw distance. Havent noticed any problems except the bleeding annoying buggy missions which I sometimes have to play through a couple of times to get the trigger to catch and end the scene. Otherwise loving it.

This game is probably making so much money for intel and ATI! I bought it and im finding the gameplay awesome, its a shame my computer cant handle it! I was realy enjoying the single player until 15-20fps on the harvest red mission put an abrupt end to it.

Is the general consensus that a quad at 3ghz+ and a 4890+ is needed to get playable framerates with good graphics? I see a big upgrade coming soon!

hi all i have the game at last and wondered if anyone has a config setup for the game i tend to just put it on very high on all settings and i am well impressed running fast and smooth temps stay around 55cish gtx 285 stays around 65,just wondered if i needed to tweak the graphics in some way to get more out of my beast of a pc

And Xp as well mate, Vista is **** for it.

I am getting really good framerates (~30) with a 2.83 quad and a 4870x2 at 1920x1200 and 2560x1600 on all high settings and 3000 view distance....with Vista

3D resolution at 200 % my friend....

I'm not a Vista fan boy but I don't know why so many people are having issues with this game. Mines running acceptable fps with a [email protected], 4g ram, 8800gtx @1689x1050 options a mixture of high and normal, might be due to recent clean os install?

Running Vista 64 myself with the spec in the sig and most things set to high at 1900*1200 and while I've not done a fraps test the game is fully playbable with no hint of a slowdown.

Taff

Vista64 here as well with sig spec and it's smooth as silk on very high and 150%. Haven't run fraps to get an average frame rate yet but i'm reluctant to do so as i'm happy with how it's running at the moment.

I'm not debating whether you can play it on Vista but it is better on XP (please note I dont have XP so i'm not biased) the 4890 comment is to play it near maxed out.

If anyone is getting stuttering I found a potential solution...

There might be two ATI sound drivers in device manager, disable them and I'm told your problems will go away.

Not tested it myself yet, but browsing the bohemia forums there seems to be a lot of troubleshooting information.

thanks i only found one, but disabled anyway as i dont use it (never even knew it was there actually lol)

I get ~25 fps with Vista 2560x1600 everything Very High, 3D resolution 100 % and 3700 view distance.
I have a hard time imaging that running Vista can be that much of an disadvantage. Only thing is I get mouse lag...
