No 360 pad supports are they mad????

I was planning to play this on my fancy new projector.

I know the likes of Xpadder and such can be used, but these can be a pain to setup. No native 360 pad support in a GFWL title is just plain stupid, considering the first game had pad support.

Lets hope they add it on via a patch or somin

It's a bold move not allowing 360 pad support I must say but it sounds like they have dedicated more time to pc interface this time round to make up for it

It looks fantastic that, wish I'd ordered that instead of getting the 4 pack from steam. Just be nice to have aside all my other gaming memorobilia. Might just order it and sell the game or something.

I WANT the deco devolution book!

Not going for the Uber edition then? :D

Good to see some effort being made to be honest.

I love the fact they give away an LP, I just dont have anything to play it on, but that makes it even more special as it fits in with the game.

My problem is, I am a Steam snob nowadays and dislike using discs and manually patching etc :(

If you could activate on Steam, I would have pre-ordered this in a shot.

They could allow "nerfed" gamepad controls for those who want it I guess.

I remember when games had no gamepad support and to be honest, would rather go back to those days as the controls and interfaces seemed much better in most titles.

I'm looking into trying to cancel my steam pre order, call me mad if you will but I would really like the special edition because as you say they put a lot of effort in by the looks of it and to me it looks like it's worth the money.

Thing is Bioshock 1 already had perfect 360 pad support, right down to the gui changes. Seems mad that they'd drop it.

That is the point though, the GUI on the PC especially and the controls on the mouse and keyboard could have been much better.

The GUI in Bioshock 1 was designed for gamepads so it should have been perfect when used with one.

My personal opinion, it is nice to have both sets of controls for choice, but when it comes to the PC, Mouse/Keyboard must take priority, if that makes that title better on that specific platform.

I applaud this move if the changes do enhance the gameplay.

If enhancing the GUI means breaking it for gamepads, that is fine by me :)

You have to play to the strenghts of each individual platform, on the PC, the keyboard and mouse has to be considered such a strength.

For too long, PC gamers have had to settle for straight ports which were designed for the consoles with little to no modifications made for the PC, especially when it comes to GUI's.

I played through Bioshock 1 on PC with keyboard and mouse the first time round and didn't have any gui issues. The only console port type issue was the FOV.

When you enabled 360 pad support the menu layout changed, the buttons were mapped identically to the 360 version and the on screen prompts referenced the 360 buttons rather than your keyboard and mouse presses.

It was a working example of both control schemes done properly.

I don't want them to nerf the pc controls to accomodate gamepads, but there's no reason they couldn't have had both. I'm not expecting any significant changes that would have rendered a gamepad useless on the pc version.

This.

Its also more relaxing to sit back from your HDTV and play on a wireless gamepad than have to hover over a mouse+kb.

Lets not kid ourselves here mouse+kb only on PC is a lazy developer move because its not a PC specific title & the gameplay is pure multiplatform designed around the consoles so all the usual shortcomings kick in like tiny memory friendly levels & plenty of mini-loads ingame (which you may not even notice on a PC).

UT3 engine has native PC gamepad support so not at least including this for those who prefer gamepads is a little strange  (Its been added back in on many PC titles with simple ini changes like someone did on Mass Effect1 & Stranglehold). If a PC gamer can do it .........

Until we have played the game, it is difficult to see say if gamepad controls would have been nerfed or not.

I cant believe someone is calling a developer "lazy" because they chose to focus on Keyboard/Mouse support for a PC and decided not to compromise.

PC gamers have been wanting this sort of thing for years.

Why anyone would choose to play with a gamepad over a KB & mouse set up is completely beyond me. Each to their own though I suppose.

On another note, Play are listing this as In Stock & the MyAccount page doesnt list it as a pre order anymore. We might get a nice little suprise package this week :)

No its 100% confirmed already by the dev no gamepad support whatsover!! no enabling or customising controls to even use it. Ziltch!!

I can't believe someone wants a console port which remove's gamepad support even though its a 100% pure multiplatform console design. If it were a PC specific game design then yes I agree 100% but its not its just a port :( of the console versions with better gfx & mouse+kb controls.

Lets not kid ourselves this is not Crysis or Half Life2 ;) (both even have 360 gamepad support it was patched into HL2EP2) even AVP classic had 360 gamepad support patched in last week on Steam!!! FFS ;)

Everything else is 100% identical according to the PC devs which means in some gameplay situations you may even be disadvantaged unless your an octopus
