*** Official Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Thread ***

I'm resisting the urge to watch the video, I want to wait until I have the game in my grubby little hands :p

Is it wrong that amongst the atrocity that the player is causing, the bullets flying everywhere, the lack of empathy for fellow man, I thought 'Wow, the physics on the guy hitting the deck are awesome!!'.

i dont buy games, especially of this nature, on its humanatrian/Red Cross etc merits, if i wanted to do that i'd watch a Michael Moore movie... :D

I guess the difference with this scene and GTA4 is that in GTA4 you have the choice to not kill innocent people. You can go through the whole game without killing one pedestrian, whilst in that scene, it looks like you don't have much of a choice (well i guess you kinda do cause you don't have to pull the trigger, but you know what i mean :))

Q) How many online players will there be on the PS3 compared to the 360?

I still don't know which platform to get it on, friends online is a mute point as I rarely game at the same time as them.

moot! :p

There will be more players online on the 360 without a doubt.

Quoted for dittoness :D

My local No competitors! store are offering MW2 for half price if you trade in CoD4!! Sounds like a bargain... but what if it's rubbish and I have to go back to CoD4 :(

Bloody hell, I wouldn't mind some of that action. I'm gonna trudge round the high street at the weekend to find said store.

Not because I like what's happening, but because I take my hat off to IW for pushing limits like that :)

It's not pushing limits. Its so far past the limit, you can't even see the limit any more! The limit is a dot.

They've done it for publicity like this :(

spoliers much, ffs

Well, what did you expect clicking on the link that says 'opening level'? :p

If someone has posted a spoiler I've managed to miss it, just trying to skim over the posts so I don't ruin anything.

I didn't want to post the story as it could be seen as containing spoilers, and I thought a few dummies may be spat out.

And for those of us at work would you care to post the story?
Activision responds on MW2 terror attack

The terrorist attack is skippable says Activision - so that makes it okay.

Most of you will have by now seen the leaked footage from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 where you are called to join in with a terrorist attack on an airport.

The footage - where the player guns down innocent civilians running for their life has caused a storn of controversy among gamers and will no doubt find a happy home at the likes of Fox News and The Daily Mail.

Activision has issued a statement explaining the content of the game:

"The scene establishes the depth of evil and the cold bloodedness of a rogue Russian villain and his unit. By establishing that evil, it adds to the urgency of the player’s mission to stop them.

"Players have the option of skipping over the scene. At the beginning of the game, there are two ‘checkpoints’ where the player is advised that some people may find an upcoming segment disturbing. These checkpoints can’t be disabled.

"Modern Warfare 2 is a fantasy action game designed for intense, realistic game play that mirrors real life conflicts, much like epic, action movies. It is appropriately rated 18 for violent scenes, which means it is intended for those who are 18 and older."
