but that'll mean I'll have to wait longer just to play. I've already done the 20$ PayPal Pledge thinking/hoping the game would have full remapping.

this is just like with NCG (next car game) i have to wait longer just to play it

oh well another waiting game.

Been playing it since lunchtime when I got my key, I'm a $50+ Backer.

I love it, it really takes me back to '97 and playing the Original, I also like the little nod towards the original with some of the original cars frozen in ice:

I also love the way the cars repair, instead of the car just regenerating parts from seemingly nowhere like previous games, all the parts that fall off like panels, wheels etc stay scattered around on the ground and then where ever you are when you hit repair, the actual parts that fell off home in to your car and come flying back to re-attach themselves and repair, very much like Iron Man when he calls all the parts of his suit together and they just fly in from everywhere and attach themselves.

Works great with the 360 controller.
Controls are as you'd expect :)

Frame rate was fine for me apart from 1 or 2 dips.
The track is still unfinished, quite a few objects have no textures yet but you certainly get a good feel for the game.

Controls will be changeable, the same with graphics options. So it'll be nice when we can customize things more.
For a pre-alpha, the game is awesome and definitely like the old ones :)
 
Well, it seems my computer isn't up to this game at the moment, only getting about 15-20fps. :( To be fair it is a 6year old computer but it plays Assetto Corsa and Next Car Game pretty well.

Not sure if I can justify a full new build or simply update the graphics card for something more modern.

Early 2008 Macpro, 2x 2.8quad core Xeon, 10gb ram, 6870 1gb Graphics, 256gb Crucial M4 SSD.

Yea it's your Graphics card holding you back.

Before spending on anything try going into the Install Folder and opening config.lua , find the line 'maxmipskip = 1' near the bottom and change the 1 to a 5, save it and try the game again.
 
Yes, yes you can. :)

ive tweaked the config, swapped to a lower res and windowed, also put the maxmip to 5 and its running a lot smoother, now trying to find a mac edition 7950 or GTX680 for a reasonable price.

<3 Stainless.

Played about half an hour of this, initial impressions:
-Very similar to Carma. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I was kinda expecting more (more of what, I'm not sure)
-Alpha map seems quite small
-Graphically disappointing
-Good fun
-Crashed when I smashed into a massive minefield and got wrecked whilst being propelled at 99959345m/s
