***Official Crackdown 2 Thread***

tried it today. hmmm felt like I was playing the first, which as pointed out is not necessarily a bad thing and can be levied at pretty much all GTA's.

However it feels the same more than they did. the graphics, I think are the same, the combat, the driving, missions etc etc. Maybe in the full game it will open up, but so far, not a day one purchase for me.

*Sigh*

Pro's:

Collecting stuff is still fun

Had some fun mashing my way through several hundred freaks.

Con's

Combat is ****, if it's easier to run up to someone and kick them than wrestle with the aiming system then you've got a **** combat system. The auto lock locks onto anything but the enemy, frequently barrels 30 yards behind them.

Ugly, somehow looks worst than the first

The world is irrritating, can't move anywhere without being shot. Still got the same ridiculous AI that can shoot you no matter the distance as long as they can see you, they also instantly detect you even if you're 120 ft in the air.

Gameplay is lacking, just seems to be the same as the first, go here clear the area. Repeat.

Massively disappointing :(

Agree with most of it, especially the camera and locking onto everything but the person you want!!

That said, I don't think these games are about the story or the dynamic missions, they are quite literally a sandbox, it was awesome fun playing co-op just ****ing about with my housemate throwing things around, using the UV Shotgun to play keepy-uppy with and generally mucking about in the big sandbox.

Still a day one for me (but I just loved the first!)

I also got annoyed with the stupid lock-on system. I have an enemy 2 foot away from me and it's locking on to a barrel about a mile away:mad:
It has another annoyance from the first game - which is when you are under a ledge that is sticking out and you need to jump out a bit to get over it and the bloody camera just refuses to a position that'll help you see where you're jumping!

God yes. I don't understand why these bugs/annoyances are still in the sequel several years later :(

played the demo, didnt play the first.
didnt like the demo - thought it felt empty and pretty souless, im sure a lot of peps like this but i cant quite fathom why.

I'm really in 2 minds, I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun, rocket tag etc.. looks great, but maybe I'll wait a month or 2 until its dropped down to £25 or so, hmmm....really not sure whether to drop the pre-order or not :(

Just reading this and it doesn't sound too good :(
I am so disappointed. You do not have to agree with me but i thought i would list a few reasons why i feel this sequel is a complete rushjob.

1. Removal of different Playable Characters - now we have four facial skins that look awful, all in the same suit that is the same wih everyone. CD1 had diff characters that looked different.

2. Vehicles - why have they removed the ability to level up your cars when your driving skill increases. That was one of the most original features of the first game. THe SUV became a batmobile-esque Monster. Now the cars stay the same with driving skill just dictating which car you unlock, SEVERELY DISSAPOINTING.

3. No dossiers or gang bosses - So the missions now revolve around standing on a pad and waiting for a bar to fill up, rinse and repeat 3 times, then jump down into a lair and protect a beacon. This is it!!! shocking. At least in the last game you had different gangs and unique personalities you had to kill, these strongholds made you feel super powerful because of the odds against you. Now it just seems very mundane and repetitive.

4. Same city - same orb locations - Xbox live orbs that break immersiveness - No real new weapons that feel different - duller art direction does not work. AI that is really poor.

I think i'm gonna, with deep regret, cancel my pre order for now, will see what people think when they get it and take it from there! :(

Im still gonna buy it, its fun and thats what i liked about the first one. HOWEVER i cant help but feel i could be playing the first one and saving some money.

I have to admit the demo left me uninspired. Like others have mentioned I found the aiming to be absolutely dire and was shouting obscenities at the TV quite a lot out of frustration.

The Freaks thing, doesn't do it for me either - I don't see the point.

I have to admit, the issues mentioned above (no upgraded cars, no bosses etc) make it sound like a rush job and the loving attention to detail has gone.

I don't think I'll be getting it - and that hurts because Crackdown remains one of my top games for the 360.

I finished it last night (had in since last Thursday) and with well over 400 orbs collected, I can safely say they're definitely not all in the same places. Yes, some will be very close to where they were previously, but with the changes to the buildings through damage and what not, the majority seem to be in very different places to before. The addition of Renegade Orbs which run away from you is just genius, some taking some real skill and determination to collect.

My review will be online shortly, but the overall summary is that if you enjoyed the first game, you'll enjoy the sequel. 8/10 for me.

Really disappointed, I'll probably still pick this up but in 3-6 months when it's filling the second hand shelves. It also gives me a bit longer to forget the original so everything will be a bit fresher. A real shame that 3 years hasn't heralded any progress and using the same map really is a slap in the face for those who hunted down everything in the first game.
