***Official Crackdown 2 Thread***

Really disappointed, I'll probably still pick this up but in 3-6 months when it's filling the second hand shelves. It also gives me a bit longer to forget the original so everything will be a bit fresher. A real shame that 3 years hasn't heralded any progress and using the same map really is a slap in the face for those who hunted down everything in the first game.
It might be because I've not played the original properly for a couple of years, but the map didn't feel exactly the same for me. As I was going through the game, rather than always thinking "I know exactly where I am" I'd sometimes come to an area and go "oh yeah, I remember this area from the first game". It certainly wasn't constantly familiar for me, though I appreciate other people may feel differently.

Ahhh new game smell :)

Not played the demo for this but quite looking forward to some awesome coop action! Oh and a few nice surprises in the box too!

Got it last night and played an hour or 2, still trying to decide if it was worth the purchase, feels clunky in some elements, but I'll push on and see how it goes I guess!

Did you play the first?

In my opinion it's one of those games that is less about story and more about just playing about and is much more suited to co-op.

The story is pants really and the missions are all the same and all pretty easy - but once you get your character up a bit and can start scaling buildings and gliding around, flying helicopters and stuff it becomes a lot more fun.

Lots of ingenious things can be done too, for example the stunt rings... get a Co-Op partner to throw you through them, or for the ones with multiple rings - get a Helicopter, get a vehicle and throw a mag grenade on each so one player can fly the chopper carrying the other in the car through the stunt rings.

2 walls... mag grenade on each, and on a car... home made sling shot :)

I understand the first DLC (ToyBox) will bring back a keys to the city mode which the first had which basically the game + cheats, so you could turn off the public, be a super agent and just play about.

I also found the MP to be quite good, albeit basic, but could see some introduction of team based games going really well - capture the flag on an epic scale!

From the few hours I played it last night there are a couple of things I miss from the first (though they may be unlockable at a higher level?)

First is just randomly kicking your team-mates/coop partners lol it never got old randomly kicking your team-mate into things or off the top of a building. in this one you just seem to stand there and take damage instead?

The second is that curb stomping move you could do in the first when you press red while in the air, you hit the ground really hard and send a shockwave out from the impact and knock things over nearby.

Do you get either of these at a higher level?

Yes, when your strength gets to Level 5 you can "pound the ground" as it where by holding B in the Air.

I have yet to play Co-Op so can't confirm the first part - my housemate works shifts and isn't off until Sunday and not a lot of folk on my Friends List have it - was hoping to get the remaining 80 Live orbs so I am fully orb'd up

Gave the first game a fair amount of time but it never really clicked for me, it seems that theyve just made the same game again without fixing any of the problems from the first game. I really cant workout why they bothered, this is a load of old arse .

I think it's a different team - but I loved the first, so am glad it's like that.

Each to their own of course though :)

I enjoyed the first in co op. I was expecting much from this and intuink that's why I don't feel let down. It's pretty much same again but as I liked the first I'll no doubt like this. Crackdown for me is mostly just about clowning around rather than expecting something epic.

Mrs talked me out of buying this today so I could take her for a meal instead, gutted now.

Is this just like the first? As to be honest, thats exactly what I'm hoping for.

Never played the first, it was one of the few "360 Classics" that I missed out on, tried the demo once and didn't really give it much of a chance.

I'll give this some more going over on the next couple days, try some co-op and MP and see how it all goes :)
