When you go into invisible mode it can last several minutes if you stand still & don't move but just look around
~You can watch the AI creeping up looking for you & punch their lights out when right in front of you the only problem is that the instant you shoot or move you loose the cloaking effect which is a pity as then all hell breaks out
I would have thought a knife would be part of the kit, maybe you get one somewhere?

yeah, i think that could have been done better, it does leave a bit of a gap in the fabric of the game.

oh, on another note, did you lot know that if you shoot a tree down you can pick up the branch and use it as camo

personnaly i had more fun playing cod4 demo than crysis. But im not gonna say something silly like that the graphics is better than crysis cause its not.

When you get to first drive the vehicle & come to a beached gunboat then ram it & push it into the water & jump on, I tried to ride out to the destroyer but got blown out of the water so I cruised around engaging the other gunboats which was fun, I tried to go right around the island but eventually you get hit from the battleship, presumably its a no go area so it automatically kills you

Shooting down trees & rocks to block the road definately will become an important part of play as you can prevent being followed by truckloads of bods
I felled a load of trees together & drove into them & met my death LOL

crytek can rake in my £££ till the cows come home, it really looks set to be a fun, non-half arsed game, i just hope EA dont take to much of a cut, i hate that scum sucking company

Changed everything to high no aa at 1280x1024 and Im getting 30-40 fps now .Still on the old drivers though.

The demo play's just fine at 1280x960 with medium settings! Shadows and physics were compromised and set to low, but other than that everything else is medium and I'm getting 40fps+ and it's very playable!

Ive got about the same system as yours (X2 [email protected], X1800XT 256mb, 2gb gskill) i just tried 1280x768 everything medium except shadows and physics on low and get about 40 aswell. great stuff. was running 1024x768 before all medium and getting mid 30s.

Looks better now and i dont notice shadows n physics. what does medium/high physics do anyway?

how do i run the benchmark?

Can any tell me what "Post Processing" does?

As when I turn this down to medium I get about 5/8FPS Boost, all I can see is that it turns off the motion blur, anything else?

From what i can tell it controls all the effects on vision that occur, for example the blurred eye vision after a grenade, the out of focus borders when using iron sights etc etc.

On the beta I seem to remember it turned HDR off, I might be mistaken as it was some time ago. Post processing is the one element I am not willing to lose.

I got the demo last night, I run it on high (shadows on medium) @ 1440x900. I'm getting about 20fps - 25fps on my X1900 XT, which oddly feels much more smooth than it should, perhaps its the motion blur.

you can run fraps to check frame rates.
the gpu test is in the folder
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis SP Demo\Bin32
change drive letter accordingly.

CPU benchmark min 9.10fps-max 32.54fps- average 23.79fps

After turning post processing to high and shadows to high, it appears to be very playable at the above res in DX10, with some dips during firefights, however these dips are probably into single figures. But not bad enogh to make me stop playing at those settings.

it seems for some the game is only fun when they see a high fps count......actual gameplay counts for nothing.

All this whingeing about not being able to max all the settings is hilarious. It's Nigel Tuffnell and "These go to eleven" all over again! Ironically, if Crytek got rid of "Very High" altogether and renamed "High" to "Max", everyone would stop crying, and we'd be getting less flexibility in the software.

For the rest of us, why not disable "PC Ego", find a suitable compromise in the settings and enjoy one of the best shooters released in a while. I haven't upgraded in over a year and I'm loving the demo.

I'll going to revisit this game in a year's time and play it maxed out, just like I did with Far Cry, Messiah and many other games.
