Official Crysis Demo thread

When you get to first drive the vehicle & come to a beached gunboat then ram it & push it into the water & jump on, I tried to ride out to the destroyer but got blown out of the water so I cruised around engaging the other gunboats which was fun, I tried to go right around the island but eventually you get hit from the battleship, presumably its a no go area so it automatically kills you :p

Shooting down trees & rocks to block the road definately will become an important part of play as you can prevent being followed by truckloads of bods
I felled a load of trees together & drove into them & met my death LOL

i dont think you need to ram the boat to get it into the water....well if its the one i remember then you dont lol.

the top of the mountains/hills are also a no go area but this time you dont get shot by a ship or something.....you get tazered to death lol

well i tried the 169 beta drivers and i got glitches on the bushes in the distance. Sort of like white glowing. Back to the 163.69s now. Vista 64.

We need a thread for tweaking recommendations etc.

Runs a bit poo on mine, think i am going to HAVE to upgrade the gpu now because of this, dont really want to spend much though, whats my best bet?

C2D @3.2
3Gigg Ram
X1800XT 256Mb

depends how much your willing to spend....the new 8800gt's are loooking real nice atm.

Just finished the demo and WOW!!! Can't wait for the full game to be released.

Game ran fine on my rig, C2D 6600, 4GB RAM, BFG 8800GTX OC2 @ 1920x1200 :D

Phew... read to page 35 then had enough LOL.

To get 64bit working, in Vista with 169.01 drivers anyway:
*rename videos here: Crysis SP Demo\Game\Localized\Video
except 'bg.sfd' (this is menu background) to eg. CryTek._sfd
*do NOT run FRAPS, instead when in game bring console down by pressing tilder (usually above TAB) then type 'r_displayinfo 1' without quotes.

Question: has anyone figured out how get Rivatuner work with 169.01 drivers?

Nothing new here, my performance is bad, I'ts still night & it drops to 11fps, average 25fps & thats at a resolution 30% less than 1280x1024!!!
When running in a window it ony uses 40% of 1 core (3 others below 5% doing windows stuff). My bro also has an 8800GTX but with an Allandale at 2.8 & the game uses both cores 'well' & he gets higher FPS, now somethings ****** up there!

I added a _ to all the files except bg.sfd and it crashes when i got to start a game:(

I have to say (awaits a flaming), I think this is one of the few games where a Agiea PhysX GPU would actually help noticibly.............Yeah Im running dual core, yes some of you are running quad, but as more cores get fed data then the bandwidth to them drops, i.e. reports here of on -some- setups dual beating quad setups......

it *does* make more sense to pack up the geometry data into small 'over pci' packets and allow a PPU to do the difficult number crunching, removing that physics bandwidth eating data between ram and cpu2

shame they went for there own physics engine :(

While it -is- great, im not seeing loads of not seen in HL2, the only big thing is more destructable environments, and that at best is :S, the tree's are not anything special as far as physics goes, its just there destructable.

I got damaged when the turtle bounced off a wall and back into my face.

Anyway, game runs well at Medium, and just about playable on High.

Any AA whatsoever kills the framerate even in the game menu lol.

Specs in sig. Pleased with it :D

That would be the no 1 most freak accident if ever they done a tv proggie for it. Face injury by flying giant turtle! :p nice!

Well I've played through it twice on low @ 1280x1024 on a 7800GT and to be honest I'm quite pleased that it stayed around 30fps minimum most of the time I was checking.

From the CPU Benchmark:

Min FPS: 25.91 at frame 196, Max FPS: 60.66 at frame 119

From the GPU Benchmark:

Min FPS: 36.50 at frame 1983, Max FPS: 87.28 at frame 1012

And considering the low settings, it didn't look to bad either. Obviously not as good as DX10, but certainly a lot better than things like BF2142/BF2 on low. :)

Anyone not getting any moblur or DOF in the demo? I've got all settings on very high apart from shadows, textures and shaders beucase they actually make no visual difference. Would really like some moblur/DOF though :/
