I bet you'll be a lot happier with Crysis' frame rate if you disable AA. Besides, those are really descent results anyway; they're a lot better than most peoples'.

Think it gains a few FPS, i couldn't tell that much diff (few fps) between 2xAA and 4xAA but running 4 means it drips too low on some occasions, reason i have 2xAA on is visually it looks so much better for it, main example is driving the Jeep using 3rd person view, if you look at the top of the jeep with no AA it looks horrid.

Think i'm going to overclock the GFX card next see if i can get a few more frames out of it :)

Ive switched back to 163.75 drivers. I tried the Beta 169.xx drivers and found that it affected my mouse movements...there was a lot more lag than with the older drivers, and hardly any boost in performance.

The low CPU usage could be related to DX10 as well, right? it's supposed to take load away from the CPU to the GPU to free up the CPU.

What is CPU usage like in DirectX 9?

Well I just tried Crysis in Vista, runs pretty crap, 4xAA at 1280x1024 was playable, allthough it aint real 4xAA so..., at 1680x1050 all very high its awfull compared to very high in XP, and CPU Usage in DX9 was like 30%-50% and in DX10 was like 14%-30%, I'm sure CPU was 50+% in XP, no wonder Its slower in Vista.

Anyone done the DX9 hacks in XP? Whats performance / Quality like VS DX10 in Vista?

Looks practically the same as Vista but runs much nicer, my benchmarks I listed above were done using them.

e6300 @ 2.8
2x1gb DDR2 @ 800mhz
8800GT 512mb
1680x1050

I got...

CPU

Min - 16
Ave - 25
Max - 32

GPU

Min - 21
Ave - 29
Max - 35

I had to drop down to 1680x1050 when running HIGH detail on XP. 1920x1200 just pushed it too far and made it too choppy for me personally.

this was all with 0xAA as well.

Going by the demo no, but the full game may be ok. The res is pretty high for the GTX, so it will probably need to come down.
I was given the impression that going for 2x 8800GTX would be overkill for that res in general is this true ? or does it just apply that crysis is just a beast to run ? any other game would be fine right at that res with a single 8800GTX ?

Newer games may struggle at that res with everything on on a single GTX, but i can't be sure cause new games that aren't out yet don't have system requirements. But Crysis is a beast to run atm. So just wait and see. You should be fine though when the final game comes out.
