*** Official DCS World Thread ***

I don't get dynamic campaigns, their missions tend to be generic and samey. Handcrafted missions with voice acting/memorable set pieces win it any day for me. There are quite a few for FC3 - default, user created free, paid... I still have not played trough most of them.
Are you saying there are community made missions that are free to download and play? I dont want to get bored of this game soon on, this is why i ask.

DCS World does not have dynamic campaign capability built in (for any module)
In a poll 4 years ago people were asked what they wanted most .....
Guess what out of the 10 options got the most votes, by a HUGE margin (nearly twice as many as the next popular) ?
..... yep dynamic campaign system

4 years ago...whats up with the DCS team, dont they have the skills to make a dynamic campaign?

Thanks, are these campaigns any good? Paid for ones...once youve flown them once though i guess they become a bore. The free ones are welcome though :)

Have you seen these fanmade dynamic campaigns in the link you showed me
https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=153020

Could somebody link me to some HOTAS setup for the F15 and microsoft FFB 2 joytstick please, i figured you guys would know.

In my experience, yes, the paid Campaigns are pretty good - lots of voice acting and interesting setplays. Playing through Su27 Ultimate Argument and F15C Red Flag at the moment.

F-15C has a pretty good free campaign which I've completed few months back - "Eye for an eye" https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=140628

Can't really help you with your joystick setup as I'm using MSFFb2+CH throttle+CH pedals. For the F15 (perfect choice for starting out with DCS "lite" FC3) you need the following bindings (use your buttons 7 and 8 as "shift" buttons so that shift1/shif2+other keys will allow you to map pretty much all you need onto the stick):

Pitch
Roll
Yaw
Slew cursor (to select targets on radar screen)
Lock (to lock targets)
Unlock
Change weapon
Canon
radar on/off
TWS (track while scan radar mode that tracks several targets at once, you'll be using it all the time)
Radar range +/-
Radar elevation +/-
Jettison weapons (1st press drops external fuel tanks, useful before a dogfight)
waypoint +/-
Chaff+flares on one key
ECM (radar jammer)

keyboard:
1 - Nav mode (press again to cycle to landing mode)
3 - Vertical scan (close quarters dogfighting, radar scans large vertiocal slice in front of you, range about 10miles)
2 -BVR - beyond visual range (for long distance shots and trackign targets in TWS mode)

That's it, you're good to go:) The beauty of DCS FC3 is that 99% of these controls are shared by other FC3 planes, so once you've learnt the F-15C, you've also learnt the Su-27, Su-33, Mig-29A/C/G.

Depends on how you feel about flying them, every other patch breaks or changes something,
which can render you campaign unplayable or means you get stuck in a mission that is impossible to complete

Patches are not mandatory, plus one can always roll back to previous version (always look on the briiight side of life, tun-tun-tun-tun:))

All this talk about campaigns made me buy one myself.
F-15C -Georgian War by Baltic Dragon (running on an older version of DCS in this vid)

I love the F-15 and FC3 works so damn well in VR by being 100% HOTAS... :)

Guys im trying to take off in the su 25 and when i get to around 300kts and pull back on the stick the plane fails to climb yet the internal joystick is responding in the cockpit. Not sure how to fix this, any ideas?

I fixed it, seems to be when you launch the game from windows shortcut it probably launches the VR version. When launched from steam it works fine.

If you have VR enabled but want to load the non-VR version, theres a command --force_disable_VR you can add to the end of the shortcut. Handy having one shortcut for VR and one for non-VR
