Official DFI NF4Ultra-D/SLi owners thread.

DR models come with all the extra font pannel, bag and bits & bobs.

If you want to go SLi, then you should buy the SLI-D unless you want the extra's then buy the SLi-DR.
the Ultra-D can go SLI if you hack it (link to results & how-to in first post)

DR also has 4 extra SATA ports over the D version.

Can i ask guys the ULTRA-D can this easily be changed to a SLI board? I have read th reviews but wanted to know if anyone actually did this successfully.

what needs to be done.

also can we use the bios from the SLI board on this once converted. Cheers

You just pencil mod two points on the chipset, should be near 100% effective as they're exactly the same chipset. Problem is though you need to find an SLI bridge as DFI won't sell them seperately.

Was just thinking with my XP-120 do i need a metal back plate for it, cos at the mo i have just taken the yellow thing that is around the CPU socket off and put the black one that came with the XP-120 on there instead and then attached the 120 to the black base.

Is this ok?

great thanks dave, so why did u switch from ** AC Freezer 64 to a XP-120?

Also with the molex power socket on the DFI i have plugged the blue Molex connector from my Tagan into it. Now on the blue molex it says HDD/VGA is this ok to plug into the board or should i just use a white one?

Ok I'm a bit confused on what to do. I'm planning on getting a 3200+ winny and a X850XT when my dad goes over the US this week. Keeping in mind I won't be building the system til March 18th (easter break) should I:

a) buy a DFI LanParty UT NF4 Ultra-D now - as I don't currently need the SLi but I can always mod it if needs be (if they are still modable).

b) buy a DFI LanParty UT NF4 SLi-D a month down the line when I actually build, in hope the prices may drop a little.

Any thoughts are welcome :)

Hi all

I have a small problem and was wondering if anyone ells is getting it my dfi nf4 sli-d and 3500 chip is all running nicely but when I try to install service pack 2 it takes ages to install like 5 mins just to unzip files before it even gets to install then when windows restarts it crashes when it boots up I have managed to get in to windows but taken ages and is very unstable any ides or just leave service pack 2 off ??

Memory Dumps

I've asked about this in a separate post and i hate to double post but i am still having problems.

I have flashed the bios to the one on the front page and loaded the new nf4 drivers. Windows is updated and working but i seem to keep getting mermory dumps.

The following errors have been brought up during a memory dump
nf4disp.dll caused error (Before new bios and drivers)
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (After bios update and drivers)
Page_Fault_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (After bios update and drivers)

At first it only happened in games, then it happened when using winamp, so i don't think it has any think to do with load on the machine. Its seems to me it maybe a ram fault. If any one has any ideas then i would be glad to here them. I am not overclockering anything at the moment as i am happy with the current speed.

Someone mentioned changing the vdimm in the bios but i can't see an option for it. Is it called the vdimm in the bios. Sorry not very techie when it comes to the bios and haven't been able to find good doucmentation on the net yet.

My spec's are as follow's;
3000 A64 Winchester
2x512mb GeIlL Value Ram
DFI NF4 SLI-DR
XFX 6600GT
Asus Star Ice
Tagen 480w
74gb Western Digital Raptor SATA
80GB Western Digital Caviar Special Edition IDE
NEC ND3520 16x16 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter IDE
Windows XP Service Pack 2

Other than this everything is great the board is so cool, just got to figure this one problem out.

Hi all
I've been following this thread from the start and I am just putting together my new rig, Quick question I want to know which two sata ports to put two raptors in raid for my windows drive, 1&2 or 3&4 cheers.

Dfi Ultra D
A64 3500
X850xt
1gig Khx3500 for now
Mach2 st after I get it all working on air.

does anyone occasionally get the problem when it just POSTS but hangs without doing anything? I've had it a few times now, and the only way to fix it is to switch off completely for a few seconds and reboot...

I'm not liking the number of problems people are encountering with these new DFI boards, making my think I should go asus or msi :(

Still pushing this 3200 atm (and it's my first A64 so it's all new), though this is where I'm up to (on air) thanks largely to the great advice from people on this thread (and others):

Same setup as I've just bought/built. I went with option b) as option a) will be pretty useless to mod without the SLi bridge being available, and I figure the SLi will be more sellable when I update my board.

Not much in it really, and if you definitely are not going to build until Easter, you'd be a mug to buy now, when there is a good chance prices will drop further.

Temperatures are around 30°C idle and 42°C load (though I'm running Prime etc with the window open atm to minimise the impact of temperature while I'm pushing the limits of this rig) so don't read too much into them. Idle at room temperature is 33°C. This is with a Hyper 48 cooler/fan, and AS5 on the heatspreader.
