Official DFI NF4Ultra-D/SLi owners thread.

Has anyone with this DFI got a graphics card with an Arctic Cooling cooler on it?

Would appreciate a pic of your setup if you have. Need to see how far the cooler extends over the chipset area. Planning on sticking a Zalman NB cooler on the chipset with minimal modding of the fins.
Thanks. :)

I have, unmodified the X800XT with arctic cooler doesn't fit, a bolt on the arctic cooler fouls the chipset fan.

Even with the bolt removed the arctic cooler kills airflow over the chipset, and temps get toastie. I've modified my arctic to blow air onto the chipset cooler (pictures are in this thread somewhere).

A zalman would need some serious mods to get it to fit around the card, even with the stock cooler, with the arctic on there you'd have to cut off about 50% of the spikes.

Minstadave,

Is your GFX card in the bottom PCI-X 16x slot? Does it matter which one you put it in?
Probably been answered, but it looks like your blowers been eaten by DFI :p

ps3ud0

Its in the upper slot, moving to the lower slot gives a few hundred points less in 3D 2001.

Lol you're the second person to say my arctics had a bite out of it :D I'm not the best person at modding :(

Thanks very much for the pics, Minstadave. :)

Looks like I'll be going for the Gigabyte X800XL Silentpipe instead. Should only need to chop off a few fins to accommodate the PCB.

Yeah I'm going to switch to water next week and chop a zalman up to fit around the PCB.

Well ive tried again this morning and its deffo had it!

Ive put my TCCD in my mac for 1.5GB of RAM :D
But do you think its okey to leave it in there for a few days running at 133FSB?
As I dont want the OCability decreased as they arnt making ay more TCCD for an RMA.

Function rather then aesthetics.

Ok Pc is all up and running now but at stock cant grasp the bios at all to set up anything. Please can some one help show bios screens or give details.
Changing my sig at the mo so i have:
NF4 SLI-DR mobo, Fx55, water cooled 120.3,swifty 6002 (its running very cool).
Gig Gskill LE, X850XTPE, 2x74gig Raptors in raid 0, Maxtor 250 +10, Pioneer 109
OCZ PowerStream 520, All sitting comfortably in a black Li Pc71
After playing doom for a while temps are CPU 24, PWMIC 29, Chipset 35

Thanks in advance

Nice system :D

Nice yes but havinggone from an Intel system to this the bios is not easy to understand. Where is 'surge' he has the same type of set up I think

The main things are HHT = FSB
the HHT multiplier x HTT should always be equal to 1000 or lower.
the CPU multiplier is as you would be used too, except you will be able to adjust it up or down.

The bigest difference is how the HTT is mulitplied for CPU then memory runs at CPU/divider.
I posted this infor previous
I have seen a couple of posts now where the memory has been running at a different speed to that displayed, this could cause some confusion.

In laymans terms the A64's do not officialy support .5 (1/2) multipliers, so they round up to the nearest whole number for your memory.

So say you ran 7.5x 300mhz = 2250mhz.

If you ran your memory at 1:1 then you would expect your memory to be 300mhz too , this is wrong !.

It will run the memory at 8x multiplier(or divider in this case).

SO our memory would run at CPU FREQUENCY/ closest whole multiplier

Or (7.5x300mhz HHT)= 2250mhz
now divide this by the next whole number to 7.5 = 8

SO: (closest to 7.5 = 8)
CPU speed= 2250mhz
whole Divider= 8
Mem speed = 2250/8
true mem speed = 281.25mhz

A list to help;

Couldn't wait for the next revision Winnie any longer so i went and bought a 3000+ and a DFI UltraD NF4! It's quite a shock seeing the bios screen after being so used to my NF7  Just been running stability test for now to see how far i can push the it:

I'm still trying to get to grips with all the settings

Looking at that I think I might get a 3000+ Winnie instead - what cooling u using?

Any ideas what decent air cooling might get me if the CPU is a good clocker?

I'm using the stock cooler, its surprisingly quiet. The temps haven't gone above 46c yet.
Ricco, the stepping is CBBHD 0448 SPAW. It was the only 3000+ they had in stock, i was told that a customer had sent it back because he "didn't want it" but the box was unopened so i bought it.

Thats the very best stepping.
