Official DFI NF4Ultra-D/SLi owners thread.

has anyone got 3 mem sticks in this board? I'm thinking of getting another 512meg ocz stick for photoshop / battlefield 2 (when it comes out ;) )

any ideas how this would affect performace? would i lose dual channel?

No DC and probably limited to PC2700 speeds. This is a mem controller problem with the winchester that AMD will address in Venice.

You should be fine with 2x512meg DC, 256meg GFX card & your raptor.

Try dropping tRP (ras precharge) to 3 TCCD can usually handle 2.5-4-3-10 at 300 if its good stuff.

I tried that but like Duffman said, no performance benefit.

I've found a bug though...when i change the HTT multi between 4x-3x it doesn't alter the final HTL speed according to central brain identifier software (i know i should try to keep it to around 1000Mhz) anyone else come across this?

n1 mate,

Just bought a CBBHD 3000+ week 48 SPAW myself ;) - paid a bit to ensure it - but it should do well in my setup now - really needed a decent pro...

Just have to wait for the new OCZ 520W APFC :(

Is that the ones that where been touted at £160 mark

Hehe about that - went to my local stores to find something other than 05 chips with no luck - so I just bit the bullet - amount of time/money Ive spent on the other parts so I can get a nice overclock - rather would have been peeved if I got a dodgy mem controller . a lot cheaper than the 3500+ I was gonna buy and should o/c higher - win/win for all...

The only problem is that you guys have got me interested in vapo now :p - Ive seen it do 2.9 on vapo stable + easily, just hope it does well on a xp-120...

TBH its not a bad price for what you have got, it should manage 2.8 failr easy.

Shame though as venice should start showing up soon and devalue all our *PAW chips :)

If your very lucky ( and u probably are) you might be able to get 9x 310+ and keep the memory at CPU/9 , that TCCD should start to fly at 310mhz+ :)

Well the way I see it is Im not gonna u/g again until dual core is here (mobo, ddr2 ram?!?, pro) - so say 18months for it to be here in good supply with good mobos to take care of it.

Im unsure how good Venice will be - isnt just with SSE3 implemented and strained silicon throughout the family? With how 05 chips are overclocking, Venice may not o/c much more then these week 40's Winnie.

Im happy to be proven wrong - just dont make me buy one..yet...

EDIT: Ricco - what kinda o/c do u think I could get on air - worth me considering water cooling? From what Ive seen Winnies seem to o/c exceptionally well on air in comparison to water which only does a bit better - guess its quieter tho...

Hi mate, I also have a 0448 spaw which is aircooled xp120 running prime at 2752mhz with 1.47v :D

drool, n1 mate - now that what Im talking about - at best Im hoping for 300x9 on it, tho just need to match my FX53 owning mate ;)...

Hoping that stacker x-flow fan may help keep it more stable - tho tempted to make an air tunnel to funnel air from the side fan onto the xp-120 - matters how bored I am...

anandtech article seems a Tras of ~7 is reccommended most for the NF4 boards if not overclocking anyway, (do high overclocks require that you slacken the Tras timings also?)

I doubt water cooling is really going to be worth it unless you really value your silence ps3udo .. hassles that come with it :P (cleaning the algae ? and water + electronics do not mix if something goes wrong :P)

any new Bios versions for the DFI recently? :)
