Official DFI NF4Ultra-D/SLi owners thread.

any idea what this means on startup all works well just dont know what this is

"Option rom can not be invoke vendor ID 10DEh Device ID 0057h"
"Option rom can not be invoke vendor ID 1095h Device ID 3114h"

Sounds like its not reading the vendor ID from the ROM on some hardware ?

Anyway, done a quick test with 209,310 and 310-2 BIOS

Overall things were pretty even, but 310 was the fastest slightly.
Ill list my full bench marks for each later.

Order of speed = 209,310-2,310 :
did'nt try 309-2

I just trashed my RAID array with the 310-2 guess :(

Guess I learned the hardway that a bios flash loses your RAID settings. Is this normal?

This bios updates your raid rom as well (NVMM 4.85 and NV RAID 4.81) so i guess it will reset your raid settings.

Yeah looks like it, I forgot to set them again before going into windows, so the disk manager had a fit and tried to recover what it could, just made a mess though.

Time to start downloading everything all over again.

Ouch - yeah one of the reasons I don't use raid :)

The raid aray will always need setting if a new raid BIOS is loaded.

I would have thought Auto config would have done , but I have not used raid for a long time, taken me a while (a few years) to get over the mess from the last disaster :)

It defaulted to RAID off unfortunately. But good thing is it was just a media drive, and it won't take to long to get everything again (uni file sharing is the way forwards).

I don't know tbh mate, I think if you set the RAID settings in the bios before booting into windows you should be ok, unfortunately I didn't do this so can't tell you if it works or not. Not doing it definately trashes the RAID array though, this I have tried ;)

so if i wanted to upgrade to 310 is there a way to protect my raid array? I have my os and all the programmes on it!

I've just done it ok. Like you I boot off a raid array. What I did immediately after flashing I went straight into bios and reset all my settings exited bios then pressed f10 to enter the raid setup when prompted and my array was showing fine and healthy.

Unlucky mate - lucky it was only a media drive and not your OS - Ive been bitten by hardware RAID 0 failing before and nearly thought I lost everything and that was on IBM 75GXPs - guess I was asking for trouble :p...

That was back in the day when RAID was a new feature on mobos - never touched it again...

When will I see the wonders of this mobo :(

It was my own fault, I should have been more careful, now worries though, will soon refill it :)

You having probs with this board? Or just not got it setup yet?

Good m8.

can you give an exact instruction listing so i can add it to first post, I dont have Raid myself so I can't list the steps.

Erm dont tell anyone (esp. ricco) - but I dont own it yet - dont see any point until the PSU I want is available (OCZ 520W Active PFC Revised). Im a stow-away on this thread...
