Can anybody tell me whether all the SATA ports in the DFI SLI board are locked so that they do not suffer from data corruption when overclocking?

Yes they are locked :)

EDIT Oh, Dave beat me to it ;)

Been reading through this topic as i'm planning on buying a DFI Ultra. I only got one problem: the arctic cooler thingy. Is there no way to plug in a VGA card with this cooler on it (the HIS ones neither?)?

I really want silence and i think standard X850 coolers are noisy and don't perform well.....

I know, i saw you pictures ;)

Problem is i'm considering buying the HIS X850XT. There you have it pre-fitted. But when you have to RMA it (you never know) with a bite out of the card.... seems a bit hard to explain.....

Id probabaly get an aftermarket Arctic Cooler and mod it like Mistadave did - no point in getting the HIS version as ull void the warranty as soon as touch the cooler :<

EDIT: TBH thinking about it all NF4 mobo IIRC have this issue - due to way nVidia setup the chipset design - I think they are going back to dual chipset for the Intel version...

ps3ud0

I've got 6800GT in my SLi-D atm, its noisey and temps are high so I'm planning to get an Arctic VGA cooler. If I were to get another, and do the same, would it fit? I know there is a little PCI-E (x1 or x4 cant remember) in the middle, but there is enough room for a dual slot solution surely? Bit unsure though.

you mite want to check your links mate.

They are coming up as -

h**p://www.dfi.com.tw/Support/Downl..._FLAG=A&SITE=NA
h**p://oskarwu.myweb.hinet.net/dfi/.../NF4LD309-2.zip
h**p://oskarwu.myweb.hinet.net/dfi/.../NF4LD310-2.zip

Minus the ** but with 3 dots :p

Still can't connect to my broadband whilst using this mb.

Have tried setting the usb ports to 1.1 in Bios - just to see if it's a 1.1/2.0 problem - but it still fails to connect to the net.

Anyone have any other ideas, modem is a dlink dsl-200.

Regards,

Matt

Guys how hot does your chipset run on idle/load?

Mines about 45 degrees at idle, with fan at 6000rpm

and goes up to about 53 degrees at load (playing games).

This all seems a bit hot and I wonder if its because my graphics card goes right over the top of it? I know moving it to the lower slot loses a tiny bit of performance but will it make a difference to my chipset temperatures do you think?

Try it and find out :)

Mine ran very hot like ours as my arctic cooler was stopping airflow around the fan, having modded my arctic it now runs at around 39-42 idle, 45-47 load.
