Official DFI NF4Ultra-D/SLi owners thread.

Well from the initial test of venice done so far it booted without problems in a Ne02 , just was'nt recognised properly (ID)

this was confirmed somewhere ( pls dont ask me to link it as I can't rem the thread exactly) by some mobo manufacturer (it might be DFI) and was pointed out the problem with Estepping will be with the San Diego's

Just read on Xtremesystems.org about the 3500 venice core. . .

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=57291

'The bios incompability issues you have all heard about are about the E4 stepping (san diego 1024kb L2 cache 90nm) not the E3 (venice 512kb L2 cache 90nm) so you dont need a bios update for the venice chips that will be released on april 4th'

Nice one, me gets out the debit card. . . :D

Man that 3500+ venice did 3Ghz at stock volts, that is sweet.

I wanna know what you can expect from a 3500+ on a custom watercooled setup (which is what i've got) they have only got it on phase change.
Im pleased there is no problem with the bios's too ;)

I tried both, find that blowing down works fine, temps are so low it doesn't make a lot of difference, max out at about 45 degrees at 2.7Ghz in my warm room.

im having some issues with this board and random BSOD's.......well kinda random.

My specs are:

3500 winnie with arctic freezer 64
2x512 ocz platinum r2 ddr 3200 in slots 2 and 4
gigabyte 6800 ultra
enermax noisetaker 600w sli compliant psu
audigy 2
Using onboard nvidia lan for cable modem without nvidia firewall.

I have reverted bios settings to 'optimised defaults' from running at 2-2-2-5 1T. I havent altered any vdimms etc.

It runs all memtests fine and prime 95 with no errors (admittedly i havent left it on for ages to really stress it) but i get random bsods. EG, when i was playing some CS:Source last night and pressed quit, i got one. When i shutdown windows i got one. I got one after running prime 95 before and clicking to switch to another window. I got one copy and pasting some text.

Are there any bios settings you guys can recommend for stability? Or any other ideas what might be causing it?

Motherboard monitor shows the cpu never really getting much above 40 under full load but the nforce chipset is constantly at 52 and never budges ever.....making me think that reporting is incorrect. The pwmic temp is 48-50 under load.

Thanks for any help

Try bumping Vdimm to 2.7V for a start.

Chipset temp is quite high too, check that the fan is spinning and the heatsink is level with the chipset.

this is so odd......i dont get any errors in memtest or prime 95. i bumped up vdim m to 2.7 and checked the chipset. The fan is spinning but there is poor airflow over it because of the gfx card: the back end of it extends across the fan. System boots and chipset is in low 30s and it hits 52 during prime 95 etc and stays there.

i ran prime for about 30 minutes and was into the second test and decided to quit out of it and poof........same again, reboot. But this time the system didnt detect my monitor and just booted right into windows while leaving the monitor to stay black.

Starting to bug me now, it only seems to be on exiting applications, not during. I do have an old ide drive in wit my serial atas that im using to dump data from. Ill remove that and see if that helps but any other suggestions are appreciated
