****Official Doom 4 Thread****

Just had a quick go of this and I think it's terrible. Just doesn't feel right and the graphics are some of the worst I have seen in a long time.

That because it's not Quake 3? It's Doom :p

On a more serious note I think the game is 'ok', it has the scope to improve a lot, that's if the devs put the time/effort into it and more importantly let the community mod it etc.

LOL - but when you play these kind of games that tends to be the benchmark for movement - even BF4/SWBF (Frostbite), the more recent stuff built on Unreal Engine, etc. have kind of gravitated towards it - an odd day when games built on those engines feel more fluid and natural to move about than an id title :(

Also finding the game a bit inaccessible it is kind of hard to work out what some of the items, etc. are for or do in the middle of a match compared to other arena type games - partly due to some of them being quite low detail in the beta - some are little more than slightly oddly shaped boxes with a blurry texture.

My pre order is back on.
max FPS up to 144fps!

http://www.dsogaming.com/news/doom-...ealed-includes-colorblind-sharpening-max-fps/

Graphics API
•Max Frames Per-Second
•Lights Quality
•Shading Quality
•Shadows Quality
•Post Process Quality
•Particles Quality
•Effects Quality
•Directional Occlusion Quality
•Reflections Quality
•Texture Filtering
•Motion Blur Amount
•Sharpening Amount
•Chromatic Aberration Amount
•Lens Flare
•Virtual Texturing Page Size
•Virtual Texturing Cache Size
•Virtual Texturing Compression
•Virtual Texturing Max PFF
•COLORBLIND MODE
•RENDERING MODE

Also I have seen a FOV slider should be enabled.
Hopefully some raw mouse input and 21:9 will be available to.

I doubt anyone will get much over 60fps without SLI support, and correct me if I'm wrong but IDTech doesn't support SLI..at least it didn't for Wolfenstien.

ALso I still can't quite believe nobody reported their Beta experience as a flickering blurry headache inducing mess cause that's what I got. I genuinely felt sick after playing for five minutes this morning...maybe it's my rig I dunno, but I've never experienced anything so terrible before.

I've not had flickering or bothered by any blurring as I usually play online FPS with fairly low settings anyhow - I do find it overall a bit of a mess though not helped by the framerate and horrid movement which just gives a laggy overall feel.

I think having G-Sync is probably mitigating some issues though compared to what some people will experience - with V-Sync people will get a very laggy experience as even small framerate drops will have you bouncing off 15 or 30 fps and V-Sync off with a locked 60fps will have horrid swimming rippling tearing especially on 60hz screens (adaptive might help a bit but it can't do miracles).

Why couldn't someone get over 60fps lol either lower settings or buy decent GPU @1440p in most games I get over 60fps

Quake 4 was locked at 60FPS as well until the community made Q4Max which added a tonne of competitive features and just making the game play soo much better. If that can be added by the devs great, if not, let the community add some variant.

It really is a none issue IF they allow/or do the above.

Im not experienced with closed betas, but I get the idea is to show it to hardcore fans to gauge reaction, as well as test servers and technical what not.

Now then, you lot sound hardcore and are generally not pleased, some happy but not blown away. also, im seeing here and other places that some rigs run the game badly, even ones above the minimum recommended spec.

Is this normal for closed betas? is this why its 'closed', cos id knew its in a bit of a state now but needed to do the tests anyway?

What worries me is that the game is 6 weeks away from launch. Large day one update coming perhaps?

Closed betas are usually more like months before release - open betas are usually like weeks or so :| usually open betas are used to guage hardware/performance and any last minute issues.

The word beta has lost all meaning to me lately, just seems like a way to drum up hype for a game before release. Some just days before which at that point is just a demo!

Kind of agree but with the lack of demos lately it's not a bad thing really.

I wouldn't have got the division had I not played the beta..
