People who pre-ordered wolfenstein has been in the Alpha and closed beta. That's more than enough.
Hopefully the open beta will have advanced settings open.

Happens pretty much all the time, the preorder and wolfenstein get an exclusive period then it gets opened up.
You missed the best times for Rocket Arena 3 and Quake 3 Fortress.

In Doom understandable but Quake (Q3 for me)...definitely missing out on a lot.

I paid £25 from cd keys for game + dlc I guessing this is the free dlc.
ra3 were amazing days.. playing for teams like Defiance CTS Induce in ukra3 leagues with the likes of CaNeD Acid Aurora potts charlie etc
played for some many teams back then ended up playing with pSYKo top euro and french team.. then one day the game had died
so sad

Just remember, DLC is all Virtual Reality too. See, it would cost you money to buy a new gun in REAL LIFE, it would cost you money to buy a "new piece of equipment" in REAL LIFE...it would cost etc...

Doom is all about the single player. Just had a quick blast on Underhalls on nightmare mode.
Still a great game 22 years later (Doom 2) getting that super shotgun still feels as good as it did so many years ago then blasting through 10 enemies at once

Didn't get the last alpha to work in the end, but after having a quick go on the MP earlier in the test I have near enough zero interest in it anyway.
I'll be picking this up purely for the SP, depending naturally on Linux/WINE support (which is actually not bad if the alpha is anything to go by).

This looks awful, funny how people are saying they want it for the sp when no one has played it yet.... Going on evidence so far it's rubbish, so I'll wait until sp is reviewed, also the graphics so far look 2002! It's 2016! What! Lol

I've not really been actively watching the progression of the new Doom. It has been sat in the back of my mind, and yeah, I have kinda been looking forward to it.
I have just read the last few pages of this thread and watched that guys worthabuy video. I am now pretty sad. If the MP turns out like the guy was describing... wow, I despair.
Sadly it seems that the classic old days of an arena FPS have long gone. Perks and loadouts are here to stay. And it is those things which have really put me of modern day FPS.
Recently I have had less and less time to devote to gaming, and all this unlock crap, perks rubbish really makes it harder to enjoy a game casually. You could just pop into a Q3 Arean game, play for a few rounds and leave. Everyone is equal, its fine. But now, when some guy has thrown 100hrs at a game and they start with at an advantage over me, it just makes it less of a casual thing, and less enjoyable.
The guy in the video gets it spot on.
