****Official Doom 4 Thread****

Yeah a lot of stuff ostensibly could be fixed by the community in terms of gameplay with the modding/editor system that they are building in i.e. if you want to you perma ramp up the damage and movement speed.

Unfortunately they won't fix the fundamental movement style though which feels really bad to me.

I am worried about mouse acceleration on the PC. That surely has to be an option defaulted to OFF but hey, they locked away lots of the beta so I wont get to anxious.

Tears it apart. Rightfully so by the sounds of it.

Edit; swearing in video but that's the channel

I clicked on the link out of curiosity thinking it was going to be a silly over the top moan, but to be honest a very fair ****ging off!

Sadly I think the problem is that this is the type of game most people want, but its a shame they couldn't have been brave and ignored the current trend.

I subbed to his channel, I like honest review channels and while I agree with everything he says I still enjoy Doom for what it is.
Said it before I played the alpha it's all about the single player for me how long the online will keep me playing is anyone's guess.

My view will also be changed based on I never got into area shooters like Quake or Unreal but I do understand what it ment to gamers.
We living in a age now where games are just to simple. Holding your hand all the way it needs to go away fast.

was a great review nice to see there are still people who dont just thumb up every game on media cause its new or big.:D

I'm concerned for the single player aspect based on the beta.

Just watch those trailers again for single player. Im convinced the MP is a secondary thought that the corporate suits wanted to mimic success of Halo MP.
The sound score of this game is amazing, the weapons look amazing, the enemies even more so... its going to rock with or without the MP being a success. :)

Yeh I agree.

Runs so well as well. Looking forward to the single player game.

I'm going to wait until release before being too damning, my first thoughts though are that it feels sludgey, if there's plenty of options still hidden hopefully one of them will turn off all the arrows floating everywhere. I'm still hopeful but more as a single player game.

Its interesting, looking back at Doom3, there were a lot of people getting lost/backtracking which was infuriating players in the SP, so we know now they have a nice arrow system, will then be implimenting that into the game by default? I personally hope not, but hey, easy mode is there for that kind of thing.

As for MP, I do agree theres too much hand holding. It looks like no one needs to learn anything in these maps and just jump straight in.

the problem is doom 3 was at the forefront then in graphics. this doom is just doing enough for sales. not pushing the boundries.

as with so many games its just about making some money and not putting in the heart and soul of yesterdays games. some studios do still do it but its smaller and smaller by the year.
