****Official Doom 4 Thread****

Personally I think one of the best version of Doom was the playstation 1 version. The chain gun actually sounded meaty, unlike the pew pew sound on the PC version and the atmosphere was a bit more creepy with ambient haunting background music rather than the cheesy electronic derived music from the PC version :)

Might be something to do with the idtech 6 engine. RAGE ran on the idtech 5 engine, didn't that have a hefty installation too? Maybe it's to do with the megatextures?

Yeah its the megatextures and the ability to potentially make every texel unique on a surface.

^^ Going by that link, I can't say I'm too sure about what version I bought? Bought mine from CDKeys (if indeed that info does relate to different versions?).

I think that'll be the most amount of disk space I'll have used on a game so far.

BF4 actually tops that, with the expansions its 64.6 gigs.

Watching that reminds me of Quake 3, specifically a mod I used to play called 3wave capturestrike which was pretty damned fast and had instant weapon changes.

Think i will have to buy this game because I have bought every Doom game going over the years. I'm not totally convinced it will live up to the name and the history of the franchise but I believe I will struggle to say it's a bad game for the money. I think one of the only games I could say that for, even though I paid peanuts, was Duke Nukem Forever. Jeez that game was pure ****! Lol :p

Vulkan API running on Doom.. How good does the SP look :D :@

This is more like it! I now see it was just the disabled console version that put me off in the earlier videos. This however looks great.

The Vulkan API also looks like its working great on the 1080 so lets hope its as good with current high end GPUs.

I'll be happy with >60fps @1440p on my 980Ti :)
