****Official Doom 4 Thread****

Okay I got it running and I can't get passed the Intro splash screens. They're horrific 0.25FPS and once I get to it showing Bathesda it just freezes there :/

Is there a game Specific driver needed for this from NVIDIA? I'm still on 364.72 here. Doesn't seem to be anything from NVIDIA related to DOOM as a game ready driver :(

Use 365.10

Shall do, I got it running on my current drivers, but if I use DXtory to record it locks the FPS at 30 for some reason.

Also is the game FPS always capped at 60fps? I always get a max of 60 no matter what settings I run at

No I am getting an average of 80fps.

Had a quick blast and it looks like its going to be fun. Pretty looking too. :)

I've only just started playing, but I've checked the fps a few times and seen numbers between 65 - over 80 so far.

Very weird, I can set everything to the lowest and never go over 60fps. No VSync of any kind enabled either.

Could be the older drivers I'm on.

I love it. Finding the secrets is very reminiscent of Doom of old.

I think max FPS is locked to refresh rate, so if you using 60hz then 60fps. Could be wrong.

Loving it so far, first part was very demanding on my 290 at 1440p, now that am in the open am acg around 70s

I have a 144hz monitor though, so why lock it to 60? :(

I dunno I'm uploading a little video with my settings and the game performance metrics on. It never goes over 60, even after turning of Motion Blur, and TXAA x8 to SMAA x1. Rather odd, I'll try again tomorrow if they release that new driver.

Not getting the frame rate drops, how are you enabling nightmare settings? The only option I can see saying nightmare is to do with showing system data.

add to launch options : +com_allowconsole 1
then when on the games menu bring up the console
and type : menu_advancedsettingsallow 1

then go into the games advanced settings and you should have a few more nightmare settings.

ok, am playing now. Maxed out 2560x1440 gets 60-90fps on a 980Ti

Good points;
Nice graphics
Fluid gameplay
What Doom 3 should have been

Bad points;
Textures don't look great in some places, even when maxed
20 shotgun shells max?? (and ammo boxes clearly show 100 in a case) what the?
Glory kills - not a fan

Not really a bad point but run doesnt seem very fast. Maybe im too used to the speed of Doom 1/2 and Brutal Doom on ultra violence

Here's one of my shots from the start - http://i.imgur.com/EeR94yF.png

You can turn off the glory kills in the game options and also the hud if you want :)

And just found out you can turn of the damage numbers in mp yay

Not sure then mate I guess what I said is wrong.

I'm on 60hz 1600p (DSR), but I'm now seeing over 110fps in some instances (looking up). :D

Edit : just tried 1200p (native), and the fps shoots right up.

I'm also really liking it so far. :)

I'm surprised just how fast the imps throw their fireballs at you.

Hmm, only a couple of nightmare options which seem to do diddily in terms of visuals. Thats usually the way though, anything past high is barely perceptible.

Currently watching the stream with totalbiscuit, he seems to really like it surprisingly.

Here's what I managed to record, with my full settings at 10:33. No idea why I'm capped at 60fps when people with a 980Ti are getting more fps at 3440x1440.

Well he liked the beta so its no surprise there ;)
all my issues with doom and massive random frames drops vanish with sli disabled LMFAO.....

i hope they fix this with 365.19 drivers.

So just had a 70 minute blast. Rather good fun really. I said earlier that the videos made it look like a glorified Serious Sam type of SP with shooting endless amounts of enemies. In general speak it is that, but it's done with better fluidity and I like how dynamic the enemies are, they will dodge about, throw projectiles and evade.

The finishing moves are nice too and the graphics are excellent. I'm preferring the Gritty rendering mode. Compared to default it's got more texture to colours and surfaces whereas default just looks a bit too saturated. Cinematic is the peasant cinematic widescreen for 16:9 gamers :p

I've whacked everything to Ultra with TXAA (x1) AA and 16xAF. Getting the following frames:

2560x1080: 60fps constant with Adaptive Vsync. With TAA 8x it's 50-60fps.
3440x1440: 40-55fps with FXAA. With no FSAA that changes to 50-60.

I'm happy to game at 2560x1080 here, the quality is really excellent with TXAA enabled, and the LG 34UM95 scaler does an excellent job at keeping things looking great.

Looks like a Pascal purchase is on the cards too, the Nightmare graphics mode cannot be enabled as it says this requires a higher end card with 5GB VRAM

Also impressed with how snappy and un-console-like the menus are. It feels like a classic PC game all round.
