****Official Doom 4 Thread****

Is this any good then? Not a single sign of any reviews online which is very worrying. Normally means they've been paid to hold off slating it while they sell a few copies.

How will it run at 1440p on a gtx780?

They issued this statement before release:

DOOM is comprised of a single-player campaign, online multiplayer, and SnapMap. After discussing, we believe all three elements are important parts of the complete DOOM experience, and are meant to be experienced as part of a complete package. As DOOM’s SnapMap and multiplayer modes both require access to a server that won’t be live prior to launch, review copies will arrive on launch day.

Yeh Matt's right i was thinking about that this morning it hasn't got the jumpy scary bits of the old game but you don't notice while your playing as its so much fun.

It runs great for me on a 390x. Only at 1080p, but everything maxed and at a constant 70-80fps. Game wise I'm not sold. It looks pretty, feels fast and smooth, but the glory kills are waaaaaaay overused and the weapons lack any real punch. Combat, so far (3hrs in), seems to be a chaotic, headless chicken affair in arenas that punctuate the maps and doesn't feel very Doom at all. I'll give it some more time tonight ..

This is what I was worried about from the footage I have seen so far on YouTube :(

It's fast furious shooting fun, though i feel it may have lost some of the scary, jump out of your seat feel from Doom 3.

If we had less monsters and more scary jumpy out from behind doors people would complaining there is not enough monsters to kill.

Swings and roundabouts.

I'm not going to be trendy and hate this game.

Its a hoot simple as...

For anyone having issues with the id and bethesda logo, if you go to your steam folder dir, go to common, doom, base, video. Theres a file called boot_sequence.bik, remove that and it skips past the boot up logos.

-novid or -nomovies tends to work as well if you put it in your launch options.

I gots teh boomstick!

I then got assaulted by several Mancubi and Hellknights who tore out my anus through my mouth :( The Hellknights in this make the ones in Doom 3 look utterly redundant, they charge you and beat the living **** out of you.

Im having very bad frames dropping in doom,

2x980Ti`s @2560x1440p @144hz

---

Game started off very fluid
until about 30 minutes in and frames drop in weird spots
like when you pick up new weapons from dead corpses during that animation frames can take quite the hit from 120+ down to 40s-50s-60s
then there is massive drops with in seconds to jumping back in seconds

i can be looking at one point and there is hardly anything stressfull there and frames can take quite the hit
then there is other times where frames are awesome again lol

its ruining the games fluidity for me
also where is is smoke and heavy shadows can cause the same thing........

please tell me im not the only one with these issues.
i do have the game completely maxed out and 2x nightmare settings enabled
but even if i drop the AA from 8x maxed to off,, the frames stay the same really high its like AA is not even impacting performance......

something weird is going on here, hopefully 365.19 will fix this crap....

How does it work on 1 card?

AMD users anyone with a Fury pro or nano able to get a solid 60fps at 1440p? No aa.

Sometimes it does, not always

In this case it is because the developers/publishers chose not to hand out review copies to the gaming press until launch, by which time they've probably made the bulk of their sales and won't care about the customer thinks anymore

Really want this to be something good but thats kinda a red flag.. I don't like spending money on a game based on bits of footage from controlled environment nomatter how tempting

You'd think it's a red flag, but it's not necessarily.

Similar thing with Shadow of Mordor: review copies were sent out pre-release, but the review embargo ended something like 12 hours after the game went on sale. The signs were, therefore, not good but it turned out to be very well received.

Early noises are that Doom is very good, too.

Makes you wonder why they make these stupid decisions.
