The cpu will be fine. it doesn't look that intensive on the cpu. You're gpu on the other hand might be a problem unless you run at 1680x1050 on low settings or something.
My refresh rate is 110hz but I tried 60hz too, didn't make a difference. V-sync off in game and forced off in nvidia drivers. really annoying
update: I did a clean install of windows 10 last night which rules out any software issue, but didn't make a difference.
I don't understand how I'm getting such bad performance with my system?
i7 4770k, 16gb ram, 770 gtx sli, Windows 10. For anyone that missed it. Latest drivers.
less than 50 FPS on lowest settings @1440p (apart from resolution scale). I seem to be the only one with FPS issues as well so disappointed.
I don't have any issues with other games so really no idea what's wrong.
I did what I always do, and looked at the negative reviews.
The theme across them seems to be:
+Pretty
+Runs well
-Nothing at all like old-school Doom
-Modern-day mechanics that are considered cheesy (regenerating health, ammo)
As someone who played Doom when it came out, but always liked Quake more, I'm not biased either way
Will pick it up when it hits three-fiddy
Ir says pc dvd. Is there a dvd or 10 in there or just a dl link and key?
I had the same problem at first (as did many others).
There seems to be a bug with some systems running 290/390 class cards and shadows.
Try setting the game to Ultra, but then shadows to Low, you should get 60fps+ then
DVD version needs to download about 40GB of data from Steam PC-DVD's are no longer viable its way faster to download the whole game from Steam.
Some things you just cannot resist...
Boom!
If you liked Quake 2 then you'll like Doom because it plays very similar, but with the Doom 'Hell' theme.
