****Official Doom 4 Thread****

so the main feedback on this is Single player seems great with tacked on sub par MP?

Game worth the outlay for the single player alone? Im more thinking wait for it on a sale if im only gonna be playing half the game.

Settings to 3440x1440 then settings Resolution Scale to 75% and increasing the sharpness from 2.5 to 4 has resulted in 60fps constantly with adaptive vsync now. Visually there's no loss in IQ, the textures are a bit sharper from the increased sharpness too. temporal AA remains enabled and everything else on Ultra.

Superb!

Nice tip, cheers man!!

Just played the first mission, runs very smooth on my s/hand 60 quid 7950 :D everything on high (motion blur on medium) only at 1080p, don't know FPS but feels around 60. Very impressed as it looks bloody lovely too :) It feels very mindless at the moment but I can imagine it being more fun when you upgrade some more of the weapons.

Is there a command to switch the game from OpenGL to Vulkan?

Also, I still cannot get ShadowPlay to work in this game. Works fine everywhere else... Am using the latest Doom driver too.

Vulkan support isn't out yet for this is it? Unless they've released it since yesterday and I've missed it, but it is coming.

Anyone who ordered from SimplyGames check your account email is the same as your paypal email.

If not it flags up their end (fair play), log into the email used for paypal and hit the verify link you should have been sent.

All good my end, just wish i had realised last night so could be playing now :D

Not that I'm aware of. Don't think it's available yet.

I've only tried once to record, but I had no issues in doing so.

update: I did a clean install of windows 10 last night which rules out any software issue, but didn't make a difference.

I don't understand how I'm getting such bad performance with my system?

i7 4770k, 16gb ram, 770 gtx sli, Windows 10. For anyone that missed it. Latest drivers.

less than 50 FPS on lowest settings @1440p (apart from resolution scale). I seem to be the only one with FPS issues as well :( so disappointed.

I don't have any issues with other games so really no idea what's wrong.

You say you did a clean install on W10; are you sure everything has updated / patched as necessary?

Was there any new monsters in this? or rather, any that were in Doom 1 & 2 but not 3
(the giant spider being the one I missed in Doom 3) :)

So far, I've encountered just one new monster, the 'Summoner' - though I'm expecting others. It's a bit like the Archvile.

So i caved and got this last night, and omg the memories, such a annoying, irritating and illogical game!

Love it, all the reasons why Doom is awesome.

Completely maxed out at 1440p with my 980Ti using 365.10 and it doesn't drop below 100fps

Sidenote, i normally play with VSYNC on as tearing is horrendous, but with this i get no tearing at all, is there some explanation to this?

If SP won't record, switch to "record desktop mode" and it should then capture it. Might pay to start recording before the game starts as well.

Anyone else got the issue after death whereby the game doesn't want to continue? It's still running, but have to task manager out, back in then resume.

No, but I did have one strange event occur yesterday where I fell through some stairs and out of the game world after performing a glory kill on a hell knight. That's the only anomaly I've encountered so far.

It's ****ing brilliant. I'll say it again - turning off glory kill highlights and action prompts has done wonders! They're something to carefully look out for in all the carnage now and, for me at least, went from an overused, jarring, whack-a-mole gimmick to something that you have to earn that genuinely adds to the experience. And the movement! Hopefully more devs jump on this and we start to get decent, fluid fps on the PC again. It's been waaaay too long!

God that was a pain in the arse, the map makes it seem like you get to the top of that thing from the inside. I was bouncing around for a good half hour doing circuits of the thing.

Those summoner things are bloody irritating

Summoners really are a pain, I found the best way to handle them is the upgrade rocket launcher with the homing feature. It fires 3 rockets, and those three cause the summoner to stagger so you can go in the glory kill it.
