****Official Doom 4 Thread****

Is there any sort of mouse smoothing going in this game? Game runs insanely smooth, a little too smooth, like my mouse movements are being smoothed out or something.

Also v-sync has little lag as expected, which is not normally a problem but since the game is fast paced it is annoying. Is there anything that can be done about this, apart from disabling vsync or getting a gsync monitor?

Lastly, are the nightmare graphics settings worth enabling?

Seems to stay above 60 in most places at 1440p Ultra (1x970) Impressed :p

Installing drivers always disables SLI and in this case the profile is set to Single GPU mode for Doom. You may as well use it that as there wasn't any FPS gain with SLI on as far as I could see anyway.

How is the multilayer, standard DM/CTF right? I have no real interst in single player...

Whole mixture of game modes including some new takes like war path which on the surface I found quite fun. For me though I found the movement in the MP (beta) too slow and "flat" it felt like what would happen if you took the movement in the original unreal tournament and stripped any of the positives :| which for me along with 1-2 other things ruined what could have been a good experience - no idea if it is still like that in retail - people have been much more positive about the movement in the SP retail likening it to quake 3 but I believe the MP and SP are developed by different studios.

The beta had some kind of smoothing and slight mouse acceleration which was nasty :( and no advanced options or console access to disable it - it should be possible to disable via the console though.

EDIT: Oh its probably worth not skipping intro videos first time if the old beta bug is still there - it might take you upto 10 attempts to make it to the main menu but the game can be quite unstable if you've not slugged it through the low fps/crashing problem with the intro videos until they start playing fine.

After the horror show that was the MP beta, I was really surprised to see glowing comments about the final game. Took the plunge though and loving it - well worth a blast, esp if you get it for £22!

I think the SP game wins purely on the ability to slaughter things pretty much at will. Never gets old and when it's done right and runs smooth and looks gorgeous it's likely to be a bit of a winner. Well worth my 22 pounds.

Has anyone else tried playing this in VR? I have a Vive and it's pretty decent with Vorpx, even if there is no proper profile for it yet. I have to whack up the DSR to 1.5 in order for it look decent, everything on Ultra with motion blur turned off. When I get my 1080 I'll whack it up to DSR 4 and it should look awesome. :)
