*** Official Fallout 4 - No Spoilers Allowed ***

Anyone else wish they never introduced fast travel in these games? Ruins the immersion massively for me.

It's not as if the map is THAT big. I can walk from the bottom left corner to Sanctuary in around 5 minutes. With the loading times in this game, it probably doesn't take much less using fast travel :p

I'm guessing the map is no bigger than Fallout3, it certainly feels that way. However I remember 3 doing a better job of guiding you in the first dozen hours by using dead ends and disguised walls in the Capital area. In this it seems much easier to wander into an are with uber mobs and meet a sticky end :-)

Fallout 3 never felt like an open world game to me and large areas of the map just seemed like stage scenery from a play. The endless labyrinth of sewers also made it feel more like a linear experience.

I agree about Fast travel, you discover a lot less using it especially early on in the game. I Haven't even gone to Diamond city yet but think I've discovered a large majority of the map.

I've actually found the map better so far, the DC ruins were quite confusing at first, trying to figure out what bits you could walk around and what bits you needed to use the metro area for. I've run into a few major enemies but that's when I've gone off exploring, where I always feel there should be a risk of meeting something you're not ready for.

Regarding fast travel, I only use it when I'm in a rush and I think I've already discovered all the interesting points inbetween my origin and my destination (or I'm heading back to Sanctuary to drop loot off). Generally speaking I enjoy walking everywhere and seeing what I can find.

People like me with a short attention span (these days at least) would get bored of having to walk everywhere, you can't please everyone.. but then you don't have to use it if you feel it spoils your game.

I think I've unlocked a fair old amount of the map and I fast travel all the time, but do go on a wonder fairly oftern to look for stuff.

I couldn't be ****** to walk half the map to finish a mission for instance.

So one of my companions now attacks me on sight constantly. I had sent them back to Sanctuary so they are there, shooting me constantly every time I go there and even when in build mode.... Can't interact with them and can't kill them as I have tried that 237 times by pummeling them full of bullets and they just go into that "give me a stimpack" laying on the ground mode, get up, repeat.

ANNOYING.

Can I make my sanctuary look decent? I mean the house that you do little tasks for right at the start, like building beds and crops. Can I make the walls and roof look better?

I don't know what's wrong with me but I can't stop laughing at this, to make matters worse I'm in work and people are starting to stare.

Why are all those dead bodies in their undies?

I initially tried taking EVERYTHING from those dead bodies, travelled around and did some quest, returned and they were still there.

Thus having to move a pile of naked bodies to a corner of the settlement now, out of sight, out of mind.

Had myself a little travel down the east coast last night, came across some interesting stuff. Fair few places I think I'm gonna have to clear out. Also wanting to have me a look in that red tower next to Diamond city.

Keep finding more and more just wondering about, top half of the map is crammed with places. :)

I started on the light boxes for my big sign above the gates. I spelt out the word SAFE with 41 lightboxes. Now I just need the materials for 43 cables, 6 generators and a terminal!

In other news, my industrial water purifier is adding cans of purified to my workshop which I am selling for a steady income stream. But bear in mind that it puts up your defense requirement considerably.
