*** Official Fallout 4 - No Spoilers Allowed ***

I started on the light boxes for my big sign above the gates. I spelt out the word SAFE with 41 lightboxes. Now I just need the materials for 43 cables, 6 generators and a terminal!

In other news, my industrial water purifier is adding cans of purified to my workshop which I am selling for a steady income stream. But bear in mind that it puts up your defense requirement considerably.

I built a water purifier down by the water at the Sanctuary, hooked it up to a generator and turned it on, but I don't really know what else to do with it. Am I supposed to assign a settler to it? Is it only the undustrial one that produces the bottles of water in your workshop? Do they just sit on the side?

I haven't assigned a settler and its fine. It is stored inside the workbench, just go right on the inventory to aid and purified water is in there. I got 33 bottles as soon as i made it. I tried fast travelling and coming back but that didn't work. I think time has to pass before you get more. So i go out and do missions, go back, pick up water, then go to the diner to sell stuff.

I am now generating 50 water and 11 food. So my defense is in the 80's to protect them. I guess you could build more than one for more output but you would also need to boost defence to accommodate it.

some crazy fools tried to attack the fort last night..was a group of about 8 raiders..2 of whom were dressed in power armour

they attacked alone the long thin path with water on either side, which handily I had pre-mined

then I have 2 heavy auto guns and 2 normal guns and a laser turret guarding that way

couple that with the laser fire from the minutemen and they got absolutely minced, and I got some raiderII power armour parts in such an easy way I almost felt guilty

set the castle up to be my glue factory as well, I have stockpiled over 100 adhesive now

I guess some people just want to watch the world burn.

Imagine if you could choose to not use it? Then it wouldn't matter if it was there or not. God damnit Bethesda.

Haha I know you don't have to use it, but the fact that it's there means that when you're feeling in a rush or lazy you just use it because you can

I just checked and I had 9 bottles. I read somewhere that it only stores up to 1/4 of your settlements total water rating, not sure how true that is as I can't remember what mine is.

EDIT: Just found this:

The main thing to remember here is that the amount of water you produce in your settlement, minus the number of settlers equals the number of purified water you will find in your Workshop’s inventory every few days.

I half inched a couple of sets of t-60 power armour from the prydwen. Including my own. :D literally got in my power armour and stripped the other two of their armour leaving the skeletons. :p ha

Edit. Found an old set near the Jamaica settlement too. At an army check point. Got something like 40 fusion cells now.

I finally finished my light boxes last night so I have have the word SAFE in bright green letters next to my front gate. I am churning out 33 water every few days and I am up to 12 followers and 90+ defense.

I also actually started playing the story last night. I think I may need to start building somewhere else...

The Movie Drive In Place is quite a good one, open plan. Easy to defend - I got my windmill on the top of the screen building and wiring them down for easy access. Need more materials to build walls around, whilst the pool in the middle churns out purified water all day long.

Are people just building up one main settlement and ignoring the rest? Doing one seems like a chore right now, let alone 5+.

I'm level 17 or 18 I think and have only built in Sanctuary so far. I'm not really sure precisely what I'm doing with construction other than building furniture, clearing junk and planting crops. It seems like the whole building stuff is an entire game in itself.

Edit: I hear the vault dweller's survival guide is really good at explaining stuff like construction. I'm going to pop into GAME at lunch to see if they stock it.

I would say just do one as you progress through the story and once you complete the main quest line you can go back and develop mutliple settlements when doing side quests etc to pad out the game time some more
