**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

I'm completely ignoring the crafting system, I don't think it adds anything to the game and it's not very clear how you even obtain some of these items.

The home crafting is clunky, it does work but it needs to be made easier, parts not automatically connecting or aligning make it's quite annoying.

A change of/view interface is required, building from the players perspective just doesn't work well.

Do the settlements ever get attacked? I've given them defenses as part of a quest but it seems like a waste of time.

Yeah, a top down, like World in Conflict would be better I think

That early quest implies that a well equipped settlement will attract bandits but I have to doubt it really. Yep almost an afterthought adding the base building.

However I have found some 4 legged armour and the underground complex I just cleared was big and quite tough on V Hard. I also noticed the enemy AI is not to bad at using cover to move up on you.

Has anyone managed to get the pip boy app to work with pc? On windows 10 and no luck. Have tried opening ports in windows firewall as that's the only guide I could see online. Cheers

Parts do align and "snap" though (the right "type" anyway). The building partsaren't all that inspired (as yet) but still...
I think most people probably ended up with the "flying box" base? ( :D )

The settlements don't really attract people or enemies on their own.
Save the minutemens old fort and secure it's radio tower.
Keep doing the minuteman quests and once done, you'll understand how settlements work

The crafting system makes.... pretty big difference (double weapon damage). It's as simple as:

There are 4/5 parts to a gun. Each of these parts can be changed.

receiver: This sets the damage and fire rate
stock/grip: Aiming
barrel: Range + Aiming
sights: Aiming
ammo: Obvious

Each part has multiple options, they're restricted by your gun nerd/armour smith skills (as armour works the same way). All the junk in game can be thrown into a settlements crafting station pool and will be broken down as needed to make parts (screws/oil/steel/wood/aluminium/gears/springs etc). There's a single handy button when you open the "exchange items" part of a crafting station (default key is "R"). Middle of that UI is "store all junk".

Melee weapons and armour are both way easier to figure so I did the more complicated one.

I must be the only happy AMD gamer here, my 280x OC and [email protected] are doing ok on ultra settings(game auto set to ultra) at 1080p, fraps reports 60 fps, seen it dip to 45 or so.

However I've not even lowered any settings yet like god rays etc...

Really impressed how smooth it is to be honest, no crashes so far.

My 7970 defaulted to ultra but dropped it down to high as the fps wasn't great in some areas.

Nope, no joy- Win 10, mobile (tried several) on wifi and the PC wired (on 500Mb homeplugs, but that shouldn't make a difference)

The first time I tried Windows firewall prompted and registered the ports for me but it didn't work. Doesn't work with Windows Firewall turned off either.

Meh! It'd be really useful too.

I'm getting hazed quite regularly. Mirelurks take an age to beat. A radscorp jumped out of the ground on me and totally wrecked me while it took only 10% damage.

It's fine but it does tend to take me quite far back when I respawn. I'd rather not F5 too much because it breaks the immersion, but it's either that or cba-quit.

How long before a high res texture mod will come out? :)

They take time to make. You can't really just make 1024^2 DDS textures into 2048^2 and get more detail - they have to be made from scratch.

Give it a month and NexusMods will be full of them.

Can I set the day/night timescale to a longer time like in Skyrim? Right now it feels like 24 hours in FO4 is over in about 45 mins real time. Is it the same command, ie:

set timescale to xx

Had the same, not really looked into it other then 'it doesn't work, oh well'

This is on both a phone or tablet on WiFi and a wired PC.
