**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

This game is hit and miss. I think for those who love FO4 and gameplay in general, it's fine. For those who expected a little more in 2015, especially after some really awesome titles this year (Witcher 3 for example), it kinda sucks.

I think I'll be asking for a steam refund after paying full price last minute. This is not a 60 bux game

me too :( After I quite FA4, I noticed that windows firewall had flashed up but had vanished behind a few windows. I couldn't be bothered to launch it again as I was knackered, so I'll try again tonight.
 
I couldn't get into the previous Fallout games and Witcher 3 is still most likely going to be my GOTY but I am really loving this game, the exploration, dialogue, gameplay and graphics are all enjoyable to me. The only thing I don't really like at the minute is how clunky the base making stuff is but even saying that I spent at least 3 hours building a house.
 
I noticed that bathroom mirror reflection (or lack of) as well!!! I think if you asked a dev they'd say "err yeah well the mirror is steamed up, obviously" and yet your un-named potato of a wife you're somehow meant to care at all about is clearly seen repeating a jerky animation checking out her reflection just after you finish making your character, so that defeats that theory

This, once you enable the pipboy app in your game settings, reload your game and you'll be prompted by the windows firewall to let fallout 4 through, you can then connect your phone.
 
I think after playing the DayZ mod and its variations throughout Arma 2 and 3 the building system in this isn't bothering me too much, yet.

What is a little annoying is how consistently bad Bethesda's menu's are, I'm pretty sure they spend time trying to come up with the best way to put as much information on the screen as they can but give as little detail about what it is or does as possible. Then hide it all behind a series of terrible menu's!

I hope someone comes up with a comparable to SkyUI for Fallout.

Hardly a huge killer though is it? can't see your self in the mirror in the introduction part of the game.. woopdeedoo.

The game is awesome.

Sorry for late reply, I have vsync disabled in the prefs.ini (set to 0) and forced in nvidia game settings to adaptive along with triple buffer and pre render 1 frame ahead to get rid of the micro stutter.

If this hasn't fixed it already, make sure windows aero theme is ON, weird I know but that's what finally fixed mine.

I am so only running on 1 card atm as sli, even with the inspector tweak halves my fps.

3840x1607 ultrawide
Ultra settings EXCEPT:
God rays low
Shadow quality High
DoF disabled completely
Motion blur off

Windowed borderless
Fov 100
Running at 60 fps 99% of the time

On another note, haven't seen a game give my cpu a workout this hard for a while!

Cheers dude. Im on Windows 10 so the aero thing is not possible but Ive tried various methods which solve the stutter but still give me tearing
 
has anyone else had their carry weight randomly drop 50 points????????

I've had a carry weight of 345 for the last few days, not using any boosts from armour, items or meds, and all of a sudden it has just dropped back down to 295, no idea why :(

Are you suffering from any ailments after an encounter with something?
 
I was just thinking, as this is basically the same as Skyrim, I wonder how easy it would be to mod in killmoves. I love playing as a sneaky mele character, but I want my throat slitting animation!


Whilst as I said earlier I am deeply disappointed in the gutting of the rpg elements, the game is brilliant. I'm loving it!

player.modav carryweight 5000

I did it as soon as I loaded into game. I can't stand carry weights.

That's pretty weird... I often end up opening the properties on the game executable and disabling composition, aero etc. because otherwise Windows tries to be super helpful by minimising the game with that popup that pretty much says:

"You appear to be using your computer, do you want me to help your computer perform better to improve your experience by turning off aero?"
(At the same time as it's just pulled you out of the game interrupting said experience, and in many games ruining stability as you try to re-focus the game window. Thanks Microsoft)
 
Possible to have more than one profile on a game?

If not, then I guess stopping cloud and moving saves to a folder for each profile.

Which elements in particular mate? It's a long time since I've played any Fallout games.
