This is a discussion thread about a game. While you're all taking reports of other player's experiences personally, I'm off to play :)

Looking the wrong way. And at night so no shadows.

WOW!

You didnt specify your settings either. Besides, do it right rather than wrong. I said "look down on the town" not "The Capital City in the Distance with LOW LOD Models and Zero Shadows"

Here you go then, different time of day still but more shadows. I did specify max everything settings. Res is 1080p. Spec is 5820k, 16gb ddr4, gtx 980. Closest I could get with my screenie without sitting here for half hour for a sunny screenie.

Its just User Error.

(Quoting all the other Fallout 4 players in this specific Thread, nothing to do with the Game!)

Don't think anyone has said the game is without problems , we just aren't getting the fps drops you are. You just don't believe us for some weird reason and seem to be getting very angry about it?:confused:

Haven't played as much as a lot in here so far but what I've played so far seems good honestly (and I was a little skeptical based on what others had said)... A number of things have been dumbed down which is a shame but so far it isn't really bothering me as much as I thought it might do; when you're not directly dealing with or thinking about those aspects of the game exploring and discovering locations and looting feels just like the earlier games... The shooting mechanics are way nicer and more satisfying which is great to see :)

The overly flashy all-guns blazing part of that early mission felt a little bit by-the-numbers and unless you wanted to have your character be a heavy-weapons build it didn't make a lot of sense. Could they not have had a few options for dealing with that situation? (i.e. if you preferred you could have snuk out of a side door and flank the enemies, then have some more creative hands-off way of dealing with the big guy?)

Walking through that first town I did think again it would have been cool if they'd had you go there in the prologue - maybe the wife/husband needs you to go collect a parcel from the post office or something. I'd have had it so the Vault Salesman guy asks you about signing up - if you say "yes" then you bump into a friend in the town who also heard from the vault guy and said no, thinking it was a bad idea, and you end up trying to convince him... If you say "no" to the salesman you bump into your friend and this time it turns out he said yes and tries to talk you into it instead... Could have had you pass the gas station on your way as well and maybe had some interaction there too... (I wonder if someone could mod the prologue to include extra stuff like this?)

Anyone playing a stealth melee character? Tempted to reroll, I ended up going down the BOS questline and realised it wasn't my play style at all in terms of RPG. Plus now I understand the game a lot better I can plan a lot more efficiently. From what I gather it's super tough being melee until you get a decent amount of perks going, not sure what to go with on the start S.P.E.C.I.A.L.

I tried a melee in fo3, rerolled pretty quickly. Closing distance before getting mangled is always an issue with melee, and I don't think it's done very well in a world with so many firearms.

I'm sure there are ways to do it, but I can't imagine how you can take on a group of 3+ in an open field while trying to perk up.

Couple of posts on reddit of a guy doing that, it looks insanely fun. They require high STR AGI and LCK though. Although, from what I see the Idiot Savant perk is actually better experience wise than 10 INT which is my primary reason for going so high into INT in the first place as I could take or leave the perks really above hacking.

Apparently it's so good though it even makes survival a cakewalk if you build it properly so it might end up being really easy.

There's a perk which makes your melee attack multiple people I think at once, and VATs takes you to the enemy immediately I think which resolves the closing down problem.

Any reason you are plugging all your points into SPECIAL, and not actually selecting the various perks that are available, and leveling the perks also?

I have selected plenty of perks. Anything I fancied I have unlocked. When you get to level 45 like I have, any perk you may want is locked away and you need to put points in SPECIAL in order to have access to them.

I have actually decided to uninstall and revisit it in a month or so when maybe crossfire profile is released and the map bug is fixed so I can finish my silver shroud quest. It is the last quest I have that is active.

Oh and for those saying there is not many people around to talk to, just an hour ago when exploring north of witchcraft house I came across a guy who was shooting at murlocks from his roof and it triggered a guest. Don't want to spoil anything so won't go into the details, but sufficed to say, if you explore properly, there are people and quests. I discovered this side quest just earlier today at which point I had 270+ locations discovered already :D

Then it has to be the resolution, 1440p vs 1080.
I still wonder though, GPU usage is 50% in that area or less.

90% of the people that claim they have no problems base it on the wilderness out in the nothingness or indoors. Or they have no framecounter at all and go by eye.

Two Brotherhood vertibirds with about 4 Brotherhood Knights in power armour attacking about 6 supermutants on the ground... A minute later 2 crashed vertibirds. Yeah they really need to tweak vertibirds, and give them a ton more health. It is just silly!

Need some advice on plot:

If I join the BOS via Paladin Danse, will that prevent me helping the minutemen any further? He said if I joined him there'd be no more "mercenary" stuff. I hate closing down options in a game so quite important to know this beforehand!

It doesn't change anything.

1440p, everything ultra except godrays at high. Shadows on 20000, not 16000.
