**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

Then it has to be the resolution, 1440p vs 1080.
I still wonder though, GPU usage is 50% in that area or less.

90% of the people that claim they have no problems base it on the wilderness out in the nothingness or indoors. Or they have no framecounter at all and go by eye.

90% of people are just playing the game rather than trying to find a place they can stand and go "ooh this number isn't high enough"

Anyone playing a stealth melee character? Tempted to reroll, I ended up going down the BOS questline and realised it wasn't my play style at all in terms of RPG. Plus now I understand the game a lot better I can plan a lot more efficiently. From what I gather it's super tough being melee until you get a decent amount of perks going, not sure what to go with on the start S.P.E.C.I.A.L.
Yes.

I have prioritised stealth a lot over damage because the multipliers for sneak attacks are great. I didn't put anything in to strength which is at 3, enhanced to 4 with armour. I can one hit some pretty tough enemies, but once I am seen I have to get a gun out. Through a faction quest you get the silenced pistol The Deliverer which is awesome and can cause some serious damage, and I have the knife I mentioned earlier that is very powerful, even with no points in strength and causes heavy bleeding..
It is my favourite way to play the game, though it kinda rules out using companions as they always mess up stealth!

Also, I hate how some enemies can mutate after you kill them. It really messed with stealth.

1440p, everything ultra except godrays at high. Shadows on 20000, not 16000.

Open and compare yours with mine in diff tabs. Why is mine blurry and yours sharp? No DOF or AA on yours?

Unlike you I cant stand low fps.

Just got the touchdown achievement for being blown to pieces by a mutant. Is that a thing or a glitch? :o

It's a 50/50, I think it's meant to unlock when one of the suicide super mutants turns up and

you shoot the mini nuke out of his hand
however for most people it unlocks when a mini nuke lands on your head. :p

Fallout 4 works flawlessly on my gaming laptop which has @Nvidia 860m

But on my pc which has an @7850 2gb it's crashed twice both within 5 minutes. It's done this on other games before and growing a bit restless of it. Don't think I'll be buying amd graphics cards from now on. Can't see any Drivers for the game released either.

does anyone else have this problem?

I get "Graphics drivers are having trouble displaying" type error.

Well my FPS seem to have gone from good to complete **** regardless of settings:

Any ideas why my CPU/GPU usage is so bad? Surely if the CPU was bottle necking my GPU, the CPU usage should be >90%???

I know that spot seems to cause problems for others too but even in other areas, my usage for both GPU and CPU is pretty crap....

EDIT:

I have tried various fixes i.e. the number of threads to use etc.

What settings are you running it at and what games have crashed previously. As far as I can tell it should run fine on low settings with a 7850.

whether running at native 1080p or 4k dsr getting the same frame drops to around 44 near Lexington plant city etc, think the game needs a bit of work.

To be fair, if you can't tell the difference and need a framecounter to tell you your fps isn't 60+, does it really matter?

Is this what you've spent multiple pages complaining about? One small, inconsequential area has fps issues? After I cleared out Corvega I haven't been back since. I spent about an hour there total. Why don't you move on to the rest of the game and enjoy the parts that don't give you problems?

Love these fans. I bet they'd even pay $60 for a game that ran at a constant 30fps as long as its made by Bethesda or CDProjektRed.
I guess Ubisoft is right, 30 fps is Cinematic!

"one small"
Its a rather big area and its not the only area as Ive told you many times.

Yes, Lexington is big. The area you have to look out at it to get the fps hit is not (In fact it seems you have to go out of your way to get there). I can't speak for any other areas as all I've seen you talk about is this one particular spot trying to get other people to take screenshots there for about 5 pages now.

My point about fps was in response to you saying, and I quote here:

90% of the people that claim they have no problems base it on the wilderness out in the nothingness or indoors. Or they have no framecounter at all and go by eye.

If someone cannot see, by eye, the drop in fps you describe and have to have a framecounter to see it, then it is not visible at all unless you LOOK for it with a framecounter. At which point I fail to see the problem, unless you want something to complain about or you are a perfectionist. And as the vast majority of this game takes place in the "wilderness, nothingness or indoors" through exploration, I'd say those people probably have a more accurate opinion on the game as you do.
