**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

Could be worse. I had to speak to that minuteman guy in sanctuary, and he thought it would be a good idea to perch himself on a house roof. Had to jump around to finally be able to talk to his feet :D

lol Mama Murphy some how got on the roof in my game I had to build a ladder so she could get down, seen brahmins up there too.

Anyone getting owned by feral ghouls?
I'm getting raped by them loads and am sick of having to fix Dogmeat when he gets dropped as well. Are they as hard as I think they are or do I just suck?

Molotovs rinse them, either that or use a melee weapon and parry their swipes.

Finally got some more decent armour, could do with a decent gun though. Have gone for the ammunition perk now since I can see ammo running out soon.

Managed to drag myself away for a rest!

arc same settings as me and runs beautifully on my 970.. max my FPS too 100 and zero bugs.. + sweetfx makes it look pretty incredible

companions in this game in awesome!

Sweet. :)

I might try tweaking the settings a tad more, though I expect I'd be better off pushing my cpu a bit harder.

No idea but I did the same as arc and let GeForce Experience choose the settings for me :)

Edit: Everything's set to Ultra apart from Godrays and Shadow distance which are both medium.

1080P though.

Even Nvidia's own Benchmarks show sub 60fps..

Lots of independents showing 80s on ultra at 1440p with 980ti.

But people believe what they want to believe.

Did you just compare yourself to a professional critic? Honestly, the sooner you get banned, the sooner we can have proper discussions on the game. Criticism is fine, but you are beyond toxic.

The game detected everything at ultra apart from godrays on high and it seems to be solid 60 everywhere according to steams built in fps counter. I have a mild overclock on my 970 @ 1350/7050 and my i5490k is clocked to 4.2.

Hoping the performance will hold up after a few texture mods in the future.

All he has done since joining in oct 200+ posts of moaning... bet hes a right laugh to go down the pub for a beers with.. just....

Still unable to load my saves... so frustrating. Nothing the great google has suggested seems to have worked either :/

I'm on a 970 and I have most things on ultra, with God rays on medium and shadows on high. I don't monitor fps but it is smooth. I do get occasional noticeable dips during heavy fights though.

I usually use sweetfx on every new game, but I haven't bothered for this so far. The lighting is spot on and pretty much everything else sweetfx does isn't really needed imo.

It is such a shame with the way they nailed the lighting and atmosphere that the textures are crap. There really is no excuse for it, especially when much better textures will be released by people in their spare time for free, with barely any impact on performance. What makes it worse is that Bethesda have implemented a conversation camera, which is good, but they haven't even put in decent armour textures, so it looks awful. Armour should be pretty much the most important texture to get right.

Is power armor mandatory? I guess I'm not looking hard enough but I've only found two suits and when they're broken I can't figure out how to repair it.

Without it it seems you get annihilated by anything that's not a bug or a raider.

I'm only playing it on hard (as in, there's harder difficulties) and most stuff is... pretty even for kills. If I find a 4 pack of raiders and don't get the drop on them I'm probably missing half a health bar but generally not more.

What are you getting owned by? If you can't aim very well dump some points in agility and abuse VATS.

Also - power armour needs a fusion core (with some battery remaining). The first one you see (from the freedom museum place where you meet the minutemen) you are told where to look for the batteries. They tend to be found in a large generator type unit in the middle of a kind of ring shaped part of the front panel.

I've not used the power armour much though personally (so much so that I have 3 full batteries and 1 on 35/100). Are you upgrading your weapons?
I'm just wondering as I'm seeing folks complaining about dumping rounds into units and them not dying - all my guns are upgraded as I figured a shooty character would be handy. Most raiders I can drop with a double tap from the 10mm or about... 5/6 body shots if I screw up - seems fairly legit. That's with a "powerful" receiver though. I have the "gun fu" perk but don't even use it that much.

If you still can't find one, go down the left edge of the map till you find the church or the federal storage unit (both the same thing, there's a hatch in the church that leads down to a raider base in the storage unit) there's a fusion battery in the outside part.

Bought this today for the PC after lots of thinking about which platform to get it on. The performance and seeming LOD fade in present on the consoles swung it for me.

Initial thoughts were "meh" after seeing ~22 FPS on my laptop (~ GTX670 desktop performance). Quick driver update later and hey presto averaging around the 45FPS mark at 1080p with everything set to Ultra apart from God Rays which are set to low. I even forgot to re-enable my GPU overclock thus would probably hit 50FPS average with that set.

Just installing now on my 4770/Titan based deskop.

Overall impressions after a couple of hours are very good. Big buggy (when is a Bethesda RPG NOT buggy....) but nothing game breaking.

Looking forward to getting properly stuck in.

I was going to use sweetfx, but like yourself I also think it looks pretty good with regard to lighting and colours, though I'm happier with the game textures more than a fair number of people seem to be. Looking forward to what the mods will bring in the coming months / years! :)

I did have a quick look through the database, but honestly I thought most of the before screenshots looked better imo.

how do you increase your hacking skills? I need to be expert to hack a terminal, looked at the cahrt but can't find anything specific to hacking.
