**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

how do you increase your hacking skills? I need to be expert to hack a terminal, looked at the cahrt but can't find anything specific to hacking.

It's in there. An intelligence perk. The Fourth one down called hacker.

I always play Fallout games as a hacker, but I haven't found the skill particularly brilliant so far in this tbh.

What enemy are people finding a pain then?... I'm getting destroyed by Sentrybots. The trick is to get behind them, but if you don't have a companion to distract them it is basically impossible as they always rush you and stay right in your face! And they soak up pretty much everything I throw at them.

Tbh though, I do get the impressions I'm not doing much damage for my level, but I went with more of a sneaky charisma intelligence build. I'm looking forward to trying to the intimidation perk. Looks interesting.

My god, really don't want to have to start again... again! Only certain fix so far i've seen is to reinstall. Even for some that doesn't even seem to work.

My performance on a gtx 980 i5 4670 stock, 16gb ram everything maxed out at 1080p.
Normally 60fps can sometimes dip into the 40s and very worst I've seen is 31fps while follow the freedom trail at very brief moments. Although it was fairly smooth all the time.
Gtx 980 is Overclocked to 1480, 8000.

My friend on a better setup also has performance issues dipping into the 40s gtx 980ti.

I'm not saying people are bull****ting but I'm seriously doubting people's claims at rock solid performance unless you have something turned down.

Level 38 now, barely touched the main story, got a great settlement system going, big at sanctuary and castle.

Seems I've hit a cap at the moment with 16 settlers, won't go up anymore.

Performance wise I'm forced to run at 1080p as running at my native of 1440p causing loads of issues.
Average fps is just locked to 80 to prevent the terminal bug, do get drops though in lex but seems a bug, fps plummet to 20s when looking at a certain spot.

Loving it so far!

Finally broached the outer rim of the city which is densely populated, and wow my fps tanked.
Someone in this thread's head is gonna explode when they get there. Hope the webcam is broadcasting live.

I reinstalled because of a problem with the configuration mod I was using. I made a copy of my saves before reinstalling, but it seems I needn't have worried as my old saves were present with the fresh install, so I never needed the copy I made.

Running an old i5 750 at stock, 2.7ish 290x at stock 10gb of ram (dont ask) it defaulted at Ultra for everything and hand to heart ive not had many of the bugs/glitches/crashes/system destroying moments/fps drops that others seem to be having.

Loving the story, loving wandering around. got my companion in power armour and rippin stuff up, defending farms etc.

Yeah, I was fine with everything at maximum settings until I entered - is it called Fen? Anyway, then the fps drops started which were frequent & very noticeable. Much, much better now.

Sunk about 20 hours into this so far and absolutely loving it, don't know where I am in the story, and don't care its so immersive its unreal.

Hi all I'm stuck and hope someone can help me out,I'm following freedom road and am in the church and a cryptic puzzle to solve, can anyone pm me with the answer

About 17hrs played now thanks to the weekend.
I really do enjoy the game despite it feeling quite samey to Fallout 3 in a lot of areas (not a bad thing tbh). Whilst I am used to the UI, it is absolutely dreadful for house building and I've no idea how folks have the patience to build anyhing other than a wooden box. I just went with the max size wood prefab and plonked some beds and containers within. I have no desire to play The Sims and I've no idea why a different viewpoint has been implemented for house building.

I love the lighting model on the engine, I think the effects are terrific most of the time - especially when you have a radiation storm rolling in. Some textures are quite poor here and there but I think the devs have done a great job creating a apocalyptic world - from what I have seen thus far. Gameplay wise I've just been roaming around and focusing on upgrading weapons and doing the odd quest here and there. Quests aren't the best but it's still early days and some can be amusing.

The game runs well enough on all Ultra settings @ 1080p with FXAA on low with my R9 290. I think I'm getting 30-40fps for the most part. No crashes yet and the game has been robust with a lot of alt+tabbing in and out.

Oh yeah, if it wasn't for Dogmeat being a great shopping trolley I would have stopped using him as I keep getting blocked by him.

This is UNNACCEPTABLE!!!

** I could care less **

It should be 'couldn't care less'

Sigh!
