**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

Really enjoying the game after switching over to my desktop (i7 4770 / GTX Titan). So far it hasn't budged from 60FPS running at 1080p with everything bar God Rays set to Ultra.

A couple of screenies (taken very early on and don't give anything away):

I call her Pigtails*:

As you can tell, she was impressed:

*This is in reference to my Destiny main.

Started this last night only had 40mins though so got out of vault but I thought was pretty and had no bugs within that time. :) pc set to ultra on all but as I have 960 I dropped it to high

Anybody else getting really poor performance around the streets in the diamond city area? My FPS is dropping as low as the teens in some parts. Seems to be that whole area that gives me issues, everywhere else seems to run perfectly.

Yep me as did many others (FPS Drops), might drop god rays from high to low... Although not as bad as you in teens

It's odd, altering any of the visual settings makes no difference in the city area. I'm going to try a full reinstall I think, validating files keeps giving me at least one file that needs replacing, might be a dodgy install.

Found Dogmeat some proper armour yesterday:

Then I got Strong as a companion so I sent Dogmeat back to the Red Rocket but he hasn't appeared as yet :(

Yep same. I dropped god rays to medium also.
It's also very erratic. I can be looking at a cluttered scene and get OK fps, then turn and face a less cluttered scene and the fps plummets.

The console bug is really hampering my enjoyment of the game so far. I'm having to force vsync on and put my desktop res at 60 (from 144) to make the game actually work. Due to that though it really doesn't feel smooth at all :(

Are you using steam overlay, and pressing shift tab for the browser? I've found that if I do, I get stuck in the terminal/pipboy and the only way out is to alt tab out and back in again.

I reinstalled because of a problem with the configuration mod I was using. I made a copy of my saves before reinstalling, but it seems I needn't have worried as my old saves were present with the fresh install, so I never needed the copy I made.

So if I un-install my saves will still be there <3

It's pretty unsurprising that the town and city areas yield lower FPS Shirley? They're massively complex areas with multiple light sources.

I sat up on the gantry at Corvega the other night looking down at Lexington and I could see the torch from a Brotherhood Trooper's suit lighting up the side of a building as he moved down the street. That's a dynamic light source on just one NPC.

Just tried to do a Brotherhood escort mission

your job is to escort a scribe and keep him alive as he takes readings. There are some raiders a small distance away, so he changes them and stands out in the open as they obliterate him

Some of the things in this game... It is baffling how they were designed!

I gave the game more time and it grew on me.

Problem is this new settlement system is making me even more of a pack rat, I'm constantly over-encumbered. Despite having worked my strength and strong back perks up.

So far I miss various things from New Vegas and FO3, but I still very much like the game, looks great. Game feels slightly harder ( NPC's so aggressive with explosives, I died so, so often). I like the animations of various enemies, especially Ghouls.

Most annoying bug for me is the framedrops. I'm now on a GTX770, and the game runs 60 FPS pretty much at all times, with some drops to 50, no problems there, I'm happy with 45 +.

However at random at completely random locations I seem to get framedrops into the mid/low 20's, out of nowhere my framerate falls to 20-30 fps, and 20 seconds later it's back at 60. Checked the GPU & CPU temps and utilization and can't find any clues, nothing is being throttled, CPU use is barely 40% at all times ( Why did they so hugely exaggerate cpu requirements, as far as I can see even a high clocked C2D would even run this :D? Same with RAM use, it's VERY light on RAM, only about 6gb ( whole pc, not just fo4) of total use on my system, compared to seeing peaks of 12+ gb on GTA5) , and gpu utilization is always 99%.

Other annoyance is, when I started playing this, there were no Achievements yet, I miss 2 Achievements from the start of the game, because they added them in later :o.

Think I'm about 7 hours in and level 7. Game runs fine for me (i5 2500K, 780GTX, 8GB RAM) mostly on Ultra.

I've covered most of the top part of the map. I've been dumping all my stash at Red Rocket but wandering if I should be leaving it in Sanctuary. Avoided enemies that are too powerful or lead them into other enemies to soften them up (Running from Rad Scorpions into Mutants is useful) rang a siren which seemed to rustle up a Legendary Deathclaw.

One concern is - while wandering around most inhabitants want to kill me. If I kill them I'm concerned it will mess up a quest later on. For instance

I walked to the North East part of the map by the sea and there is 3 people there - I think one was a general or something. I tried speaking but got ignored so walked past them and they attacked me. Wasn't sure if I would need to befriend them later so let them kill me.

Really been having a blast playing this, it does feel like home! :)
Had quite a few CTDs but I'm used to that in a Bethsoft title, so I just save a lot. Also had a bit of slow down in built up areas.

Not got to Diamond city yet, but just met the Brotherhood for the first time. Who are the Gunners? They seem to be on all the overpasses, and so far have always been aggressive, which doesn't tend to end well for them.
Currently exploring the subway which takes me right back to FO3.

This is worrying :(. Sounds as though they are going to have paid mods on their website and they will be available for console as well . So that means no steam workshop support, probably after what happened when Steam/bethesda tried to charge for mods on there. The console guys will no doubt pay without question, which will attract the best modders to work on mods for Bethesda as there will be big money in it if its for consoles as well.

Problem will be that the console version is already struggling to cope as it is, so not sure these mods will be even worth having on the PC. I'm guessing a lot will be extra guns and armour etc.

Thoughts?

Has anyone noticed enemy's getting stuck in a map? It's happened quite a few times.

Came across a death claw near the glowing sea and after shooting him a few times half the body was stuck in the side of a hill. Couldn't finish him off either, sometimes you can and sometimes you can't. Overall it's been quite helpful for a bug actually.

Also the console bug happens even with the game restricted to 60fps, just happens less often.

Regardless I'm enjoying the game a lot, currently on level 27 so I don't want to post any spoilers.
