**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

Hi all don't know if this issue has been covered here.
After altering .ini files so that I can play on my Dell U3415 monitor I find that the Pip Boy is so large as to be totally useless.
I must say the game actually looks good at 3440 x 1440 resolution but as I say unplayable because of the Pip Boy FOV rubbish. I spent most of yesterday trying to solve this common problem judging by the many many posts on the subject.

Does anyone have a solution to this issue?

Can someone clarify this for me.

I've got local leader rank 2 and set up a supply route between two bases, will the workshop inventory be shared across both bases now?

This is worrying :(. Sounds as though they are going to have paid mods on their website and they will be available for console as well . So that means no steam workshop support, probably after what happened when Steam/bethesda tried to charge for mods on there. The console guys will no doubt pay without question, which will attract the best modders to work on mods for Bethesda as there will be big money in it if its for consoles as well.

Problem will be that the console version is already struggling to cope as it is, so not sure these mods will be even worth having on the PC. I'm guessing a lot will be extra guns and armour etc.

Thoughts?

well 20 days after that post we still know nothing.

Totally not worried game has no online requirement and will be very hard to stop modders from modding, Bethesda know that. Sure they can encourage people to use correct avenues, even charge for the G.E.C.K but realistically given the knowledge modders have of this engine already they'll struggle to enforce anything.

IF they made a brand new engine they'd have a much greater chance of controlling it but morrowind always gets the new engine so not much ycd.

found any FO3 characters I've met one and heard talk of another

...as a few posts back started again this morning...gonna just have the red rocket place as my base i think and leave the rebuilding of sanctuary until later when i have a stockpile of things, completely by-passed it first time round so also never got my dog lol

Yup it's great. I've steam installed at work, alongside F4. So I just continue on over lunch from where I left off at home :D

thank you to both of you!

Yeah i figured they were cloud stored, just didnt know if uninstalling the game would remove the saves too.

I normally take my laptop to work and continue over lunch too :)

I gave the game more time and it grew on me.

Problem is this new settlement system is making me even more of a pack rat, I'm constantly over-encumbered. Despite having worked my strength and strong back perks up.

So far I miss various things from New Vegas and FO3, but I still very much like the game, looks great. Game feels slightly harder ( NPC's so aggressive with explosives, I died so, so often). I like the animations of various enemies, especially Ghouls.

Most annoying bug for me is the framedrops. I'm now on a GTX770, and the game runs 60 FPS pretty much at all times, with some drops to 50, no problems there, I'm happy with 45 +.

However at random at completely random locations I seem to get framedrops into the mid/low 20's, out of nowhere my framerate falls to 20-30 fps, and 20 seconds later it's back at 60. Checked the GPU & CPU temps and utilization and can't find any clues, nothing is being throttled, CPU use is barely 40% at all times ( Why did they so hugely exaggerate cpu requirements, as far as I can see even a high clocked C2D would even run this :D? Same with RAM use, it's VERY light on RAM, only about 6gb ( whole pc, not just fo4) of total use on my system, compared to seeing peaks of 12+ gb on GTA5) , and gpu utilization is always 99%.

Other annoyance is, when I started playing this, there were no Achievements yet, I miss 2 Achievements from the start of the game, because they added them in later :o.

Like you I have noticed my GTX980 is typically running at 99% load. I posted a screenshot a couple of pages back showing that and my other stats. Weird because the FPS is limited to a max of 60 and neither the CPU load nor GPU / PC memory requirements are that high, So I'm not sure why the GPU load is so demanding in the quietest of locations with the least animation etc.

I'm starting to use a key binding utility to bind the keys and hopefully get a better key combination for me, for some reason I keep going third person when I don't mean to etc.

If they are going to be for both PC and console then I think the vast amounts of cash will be more than enough to encourage modders to mod for Bethesda instead of putting their work for free on nexus. We already saw it happen on the Steam workshop, but that will be peanuts compared to what modding for consoles could offer.

Gah, was looking forward to some decent texture mods and maybe some lush trees etc. After 210 years I don't think everything would be still dead. Just look at Pripyat.

Really quite annoyed right now,

Just gained access to the institute and went and grabbed Virgil's Serum, tried to take it back to him and he just loses it at me and gets his bots and stuff to start spraying me down. What have I done wrong? I really wanted to cure him.

Slight difference between a nuke going off and a relatively small explosion at a nuclear plant.

Also more than a slight time difference. 210 years is a long time. Plus it cant have been that devastating if half the wooden houses are still standing.

Just think it would look a lot better with some greenery, or even autumn leaves. Might just be as I'm a big Stalker fan and really dig the look of those games.

Not nerd raging. I'm just worried and wanted to see what others thought about it. I thought it was the makers of Killing Floor that had they would never support paid mods in their EULA?

EDIT: Hmm, yeah you're right. Will be interesting to see what happens.

Right have a new mobo and such planned as I'm missing 60fps too much. Can anyone confirm whether or not you can transfer saves yet as I've spent 10 hours building a flipping house haha

I work in IT and my boss loves to get good kit :D My work PC is an i7-3930k at 4.2Ghz with 32GB RAM. GPU is only a GTX580, but for a work PC, it's insane.

You are offloading ALL of your junk to the workbench right? I've been able to scavenge LOADS of junk before having to offload it all.

Also, use the dog for storage, it's ridiculous that he can carry so much. They should've restricted him to a couple of items only or "10" weight.

I suppose it depends what choices you made with the institute I found virgils notes but not the serum still looking for that

To echo the above, at a workbench (ideally the same one you usually use, unless you have the trade route perk and settler) you can press T to transfer all your junk into the bench. Furthermore, when looking at MISC items in your pipboy, you can press C to see things in a component view. So (from memory, might be getting mixed up, but the idea is the same) you can see Screw instead instead of Toy Car etc.
