**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

Restart the game, I've not got too much invested at the moment and I'll go a different way on the map this time.

Bat files are ok but I don't want to 10 all my special and unlock all the perks.
You don't have to cheat :p You just reset your SPECIAL skills to 0, and then player.additem <perk> x or whatever the code is to give perks.

Base build, I'm upto level 20 pretty much purely off building, destroying parts I'm not happy with and building again.

I find the building to be pretty boring, I only add the essentials and then move on to the actual gameplay.

The settlement building just hasn't really clicked with me.

No need to plan, no need to think about anything really... no need to replay and try to go with a totally different approach. A shame

When I completed New Vegas for the first time as a sneaky intelligence guy, I immediately started again as a mega strong explosives guy. The game was completely different with different dialogue options based on strength and explosives, new ways to complete quests etc:(

I've found two holotapes in a supermarket in Lexington. I have a question about the contents. I'll mark it as a spoiler in case it has some relevance to something, although I very much doubt it.

I found the corpse of someone called Josh in the back, killed by feral ghouls. The recording of his last words goes on a bit about how he and Emma returned to find everyone else gone and the body of someone called Anthony abandoned. He mentions leaving Emma in the loading bay and going to recover Anthony's body before being trapped by the ghouls. A bit later, I found Emma's corpse in the loading bay and her last words holotape. I haven't found Anthony's corpse. Does it exist? Emma's holotape mentions the survivors heading for Concord - are they the group you find there and establish in Sanctuary?

Yes, they are. The minuteman leader you speak to in Concord mentions how there were 20 of them, then 8, then 5. The three from 8 to 5 are most likely these three at the mart.

My 30+ hours exploring the wasteland and not pursuing the story has somewhat backfired on me, because I am now discovering things (items, npc's and documents) that quite obivously relate to the main quest and require at least a modicum of completion in order to understand them. Avoiding spoilers - I am now regretting my decision to explore a particular crypt.

Some areas are closed off which normally relate to a main quest line to stop you from adventuring through them, like some buildings you can explore but a room to another part of the building will be blocked/inaccessible until you reach that part in the quest.

I've seen this for some things, and has been done in the past games so you may not have found everything yet! Just subtle hints towards the main quest lying around.

The Silver Shroud
Was anyone able to save Kent? I tried a few F5/F9's but couldn't manage it before they killed him.

Yep, you need to convince Sinjin to try to kill you first, I took some mentats to help boost charisma then filled his ass full of lead :)

Yes, but it did require a lot of save scumming :o Just VATS off the bat and hope for the best. I was hoping if I saved his I could continue role playing as The Silver Shroud and he's be all "The Silver Should saves the day once again!" be he's more like "ah **** this is done with this super hero nonesense" :D

Please help guys...

Ive managed to build a weapons, trade and armour stall in my settlement but how do I put traders on them? I can assign anyone to do it but they have nothing to sell if I do?

Is full melee viable? Theres a lot of good melee weapons and the perks and strength probably all add up quickly. I'm just concerned about having the survivability to get close to things and put up a proper fight.

Full mele I'm not sure about, but stealth mele is very good. Tbh, I'd pretty much always twin it with stealth. Some enemies never miss and will pump bullets in to you for ages before you can get near them!

The ninja perk gives you x10 multiplyer for stealth mele attacks!.. Having said that though, I have put points on to the handgun perk and nothing in strength or mele so I always find my silent pistol is better

Can someone explain to me what i am doing wrong here. When i come to create a turret at Tenpines Bluff it says I dont have any gears or oil, yet I have lots. Ive tried transferring to the workshop or having it in my inventory but they are always listed at 0 in the turret making part of the workshop

If I go back to Sanctuary it shows I have over 20 of each.
