**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

Found out it seems to only recognize I have oil If it is still part of an object like a flip lighter. Having the oil in my inventory isnt recognized..

Also, it probably been mentioned before in this thread but Im try to avoid spoilers but is any else having a very laggy menu? When i come to do a save the menu takes a while to respond. Had the same issue on skyrim but assumed it was all the mods. Also im on a different PC now so doubt to be hardware issue.

Can someone explain to me what i am doing wrong here. When i come to create a turret at Tenpines Bluff it says I dont have any gears or oil, yet I have lots. Ive tried transferring to the workshop or having it in my inventory but they are always listed at 0 in the turret making part of the workshop

If I go back to Sanctuary it shows I have over 20 of each.

Where are you building the sentry? If it's not in Sanctuary where you have the gears you will need to move the gears and other junk to the work bench of the area you're trying to build it.

Please help guys...

Ive managed to build a weapons, trade and armour stall in my settlement but how do I put traders on them? I can assign anyone to do it but they have nothing to sell if I do?

It just takes a while to setup I found, I kept getting normal settler options when I click on him so I went and did a quest or something came back and he was a trader

Got a bit of a PSA for people who use stores in their settlements. You can get specific named settlers that when you assign them to stores have unique items sometimes (level 4 vendor essentially when you assign them to the level 3 store).

Regarding one of them (slight location spoilers but nothing major)
In Vault 81, when you meet Holt Combes wife in the Depot, CONVINCE HER TO LEAVE HIM. If you don't you can't recruit him and you can't redo that conversation and he is one of the 3 Trading Emporium level 4 traders. I made that mistake and I can't get him now :(

Just entered a shop. Even though know one saw me, I heard a voice say 'I heard someone' and everyone went on alert. I am as sneaky as you can possibly get in the game.

Building it at Tenpines Bluff. I had the gears and oil on me and also tranferred theem to Tenpines Bluff workshop but they just dont count as parts when making a turret there. They only count when still part of a lighter or desk fan.

The detection has been suspect at times. I had one moment where I was running from some people, went round two corners, and without them even seeing me, they threw a godlike grenade over a fence and at my feet.

Does anyone else run around solo?

Only have Dogmeat at the moment, but he's kinda being counter productive to my stealth/melee character.

The dog is useless really. Currently have Cait as a companion. When you get them to like you enough you get a quest to complete for them. So worth getting rid of Dogmeat and trying another companion.

Or if you'd prefer to play solo it might be worth looking at the perks related to solo play.

I think Dogmeat's real strength is that he can be used with the Lone Wanderer perk so you get his inventory plus 100 extra on yourself if you invest 2 points in that perk.

You have to set a settler at either Sanctuary or Tenpines Bluff to be a caravan (or something between the sites). Go into workshop at one of the sites, select a settler (press E when near them), then click Q (I think). It should then list the other settlements and your resources will now be shared between them.

Nah I wouldn't use him if I were stealth.

I just started using Strong. He's getting the boot though, he's always moaning at me about tinkering

but IMO it's not in the same league as F3/NV/Skyrim. I remember going up to the top of F3's map and randomly finding the dude that had merged with a tree. There's just nothing like that so far. To me F4, is just a linear shooter with a large map. It's like they forgot to add all the NPCs and dynamic world. I never see people wandering about. In 12 hours, I've seen one trader, and I think 4 random groups of settlers - I don't think I've seen a single NPC just wandering around.

I posted something similar after 8 hours and my experience is no different. 99% of every hut, building, warehouse it utterly devoid of NPCs.

Like you I have memories from FO3. Particularly one of my first was finding a lair full of vampires which had a whole bunch of quests that branched out from them alone. In this, you'll just find a corpse slumped in a chair or a bathtub

Seems people on here have forgotten about that. Or like the console crowd they're easily entertained if you present them with an assortment of jazzy weapons to go cap some heads with. :o
