**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

Why on earth do people seem to be avoiding Diamond City? Most of the best NPCs in the game are there. 2 of the most important companions are there, the best vendors...and the main quest sends you there really early.

Always seem to be out of ammo anyway to get more other than buying from merchants?

I grabbed the perks pretty much straight away for finding more ammo...im getting lowish on my fav weapon so using my backup 2 until i gather more...may have to also find a 4th and 5th haha

Shadow distance is the fps killer at hiigh/ultra in cities.

Anyone with performance issues, first thing to try is drop shadow distance to medium. For me on a single 290 the difference outside was drops to 20fps or 55-60fps with everything else ultra.

THIS! Ever since I dropped my shadow distance down it runs great. Do notice some of the shadow pop in, but hey, cant have it both ways.

anyone found a favourite hide away place?

I have found a nice secret room where you have to open a expert safe to get into it

Think this weekend im going to build an epic fort at the Red Rocket gas station.

Anyone else built a wall about a third of the way around sanctuary before giving up?!

I'm gonna do a search for a decent settlement place that you can really do up well, without too much uneven ground. I thought about using Bunker Hill but there isn't enough room, same with Covenant. The plus side to those places though is they have ready made shops and NPCs.

yes!!

started on the left as you come over the bridge, then gave up later on there the house with the cellar is.

Have decided to beef up the castle now as that looks like it would be more easy to protect under a attack

I've been using The Castle. You can build it up pretty well, it is just a shame there is so much rubble that gets in the way of even ground.

Performance has been fine for me maxed at 1440p with godray on med.

Locked at 80fps with drops in the cities to 40s.

Great way to get loads of ammo is to do a load of missions for your settlements, raiders always have loads of ammo laying about and the stuff respawns for the missions too.

Works great for stimpaks and rad X etc, pipe ammo I just stock up on and sell 1000s to vendors for the same amount of caps.

I just loot every body and container and end up with tons of ammo. Also get loads of .38 cal that you can trade for better ammo. Only ammo that is a bit scarce is shotgun.

Finally got out of the friendzone with Cait and into a lesbian romance . All I had to do was pick roughly 5000 locks, be mean to everyone I talked to, take a load of class A chems and then murder a load of dudes for her quest. if only it was this easy in real life :(.

Not messed with the building yet. I think I'll wait for some mods that make the building materials look a bit better than some crates nailed together. Me and a mate were both saying it would be good if you could restore Sanctuary back to its former glory. I'm hoping there will be a mod that lets you do that.

Help with system unable to run Fallout 4? (i7, 870m, 8Gb

Hey guys!

So i've updated my driver on my laptop and still fallout 4 is laggy even on the lowest settings... Really disappointing as I now only have this laptop and it seems it wont be able to play FO4. Ran all Fallout and Elder Scrolls heavily modded just fine, but it seems the new wave of games is too much to handle

Any other suggestions? I presume its my GPU holding me back

So I'm running a
CPU: i7 4710HQ
GPU: GTX 870m
RAM: 8GB DDR3

Yeah I'm using The Castle too. I used the shack foundation to make fresh walls as they can clip through the broken ones so you can make it flat. I used them inside too and just used ladders to the entrance which made larger buildings possible on flat ground.

Can sort of see what I mean here:

Its not that I've avoided it ,more like I keep getting lost off and distracted. I spent ages building my settlement and I've only unlocked maybe the top third of the map and not even all of that. I'm on my way there now to crack on with it. I'm level 19 but to be honest I've barely done anything yet just loads of missions for the minute men and the brotherhood

Just been to Diamond city for the first time at level 17 because I needed the doctor. :) Otherwise got loads to do first!

Other than building food for adhesives I have not bothered much with building settlements.
