**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

The queen is down!!! Twice...I then found a legendary that whoop'd me and my last quick save was from just before taking her down. 90% positive I was too low a level to be doing that mission at 15.

Having fun still. Don't quiute understand the power side of crafting. I have so many questions.. Where do I use conduits? Do switches go in line with lights, or after them? Can I have more than one switch in a circuit? Why don't mains lights light up - do generators have a range?

I think I understand much of it, but it all just seems so complex. Anyone got a good guide that will help me understand the power cables and growing sides of settlements?

Also, I just cleared on a subway station. I killed all the ghouls and looted all the gear. Five mins later, I coincidentally get a quest to clear the same location and rather than saying "I've just been there, it's empty.." etc., everything (included all the loose lying weapons and loot) respawned. Double profit :D A bit immersion breaking though...

Also, the power armour can fall from serious heights and not cause any injury to the player. I just jumped about 100ft (guess, it's the car factory) and I sustained no damage whatsoever!

I've had to stop using the STALKER shader. Nights are stupidly dark. Realistic yes, but it's just not fun :( Looks fantastic during storms/inclement weather however:

I was tempted to use that. The screen shots looked nice during the night time, though I was a little less enthused about the day. In the end I decided to stay with the Enhanced Wasteland Preset v2.0. I want to enjoy some of the colour vibrancy first before changing to something else. :)

Planing to finally put some more hours in this today.
Since I'm doing a stealth/melee character, is there a way to increase your movement/sneak speed?
Hard to keep up when someones walked a patrol. Or is there a way to distract them?

But I also read somewhere else in this forum that Steam might have a sale on sometimes next week, anyone know if that's so ?? Also, would anyone think they have any discount already on FO4, or should I just buy it from a key site (since they €20 cheaper then Steam themselfs..) If I would succumb and buy it already I mean..

They won't have a large discount on it this soon after release, it will probably be in the sale but with a very small discount, certainly not enough to come close to what you can already get it for from key sites.

Thanks, I figured so much and just bought it from kinguin, got an additional 10 steam keys for just under £3 as well. Although need to check out the games and see if they any good. If they not of interest I probably do a giveaway in the subforum here, incase someone else might want them.

I dont have a good guide, but some tips. Generally items you place will come in two forms. Some will require a direct connection to a power line, typically when building these items, they will have the power sign next to it with a number. An example of this is the Searchlight under defence which has a 2 next to the power symbol. You will need to build a physical power cable to a power line.

The second type of items work off a power pole / conduit within a certain range. These items have a power symbol next to them when building, but no number. Examples include lights. Conduits are useful for this as you can build multiple lights and slap a conduit in the middle of them to power multiple lights.

Does anyone know if it's possible to turn off the horrible effect for running ? It makes my eyes go funny :-/

Sounds like you have motion Blur on. Can be turned off when you start the game and prior to hitting play. You can click on the options button and uncheck motion blur. Should help.

Motion Blur is turned off. I turn it off in all games to be fair. Never liked the effect. Getting into the game now I've upped my gfx card to a 980Ti. The 780 was a tad slow with this game sadly :-/

OK here's a strange problem I need some help with ...

Game as been running fine on a P170 i7 laptop with 7970m. Today I got a Benq 2760HM monitor and connected it with HDMI (only 1080p monitor).

Everything seems fine, but when I try to launch F4 now I just get a black screen with windows loading circle icon and nothing - then it crashes. If I disconnect monitor it will load fine, and when I then plug monitor in it will switch display, but sound won't swap to monitor so even with cable swap workaround it's still annoying!!

Any ideas :)

Edit - and comedy timing just fixed it - needed monitor to be only output, not clone!!

Will leave post in case useful for anyone else

I spent the first 25 hours of this game not knowing that you could scroll on the perk tree. After someone at my work told me this, I started a new playthrough as I didn't want to play with a borked character. :) I could have played on but I'm pernickety about stuff like this.

Now another 20 hours in on my new character and still enjoying it massively. Can't wait to play the season pass content and play on an upgraded monitor. :)

Maybe completely unrelated but I have this same loading problem but only on the first try after booting up my PC. I have to kill fo4.exe in task manager the first time I load the game every time, very strange. After I've done this I can load it no problem every time til I shut down my PC again. Other than that literally no crashes in about 50hours of playing.

I'm very near the end of the main story now.

turns in to a load of crap, with dialogue options making no sense... The Brotherhood wants you to kill the members of Railroad, and the only option you get is how to say yes, then all Railroad quests fail....how about saying no. You know actually having a choice, or trying to make peace, or at least protesting it!

The whole quest structure and choice within the story is poor. Not in the same league as New Vegas.

Dayum the game is lacklustre in terms of content.

Also only 2 sniper rifles, 2 shotguns? lol..
Also whats with the "Pipe-" obsession. They're so god damn ugly and everywhere.

You also cant do anything "Evil" in any quests.

Its just Yes Yes Yes, Yes.

To be fair, there is a lot of customisation. A base sniper rifle can produce anything from something that spits out .308's to one that can be modified to shoot 50 cal's with a long range night scope and silencer. You can pretty much produce all the weapons found in prior fallout games or similar through customisation at benches and what not.

I think the raiders will carry pipe weapons and seeing as they are the most common enemies probably explains it.

Not tried the Evil route yet, but sad to hear if that's the case.

just me or do there seem to be too many settlement lcoations.

i never get round to building one up as im always waitingto see if thers a better one think im likley to finish the gme befroe i actually build one :/

also just me or does it seem to have gone from choices of how you solve quests to the only choice being which quests you take?

Finding loads of variety in weapons. All fully customisable as well. Guess there a base set that are mostly the same but its the variety of options on them that makes the difference. Then you have all the ones with special abilities. :)

I carry about 5 or 6 guns, all with different aspects.
