**** Official Fallout 76 Thread ****

[..]
4: After you complete that end game mission you get another regular daily mission from a robot character so I think in all there are way more than 3 dailies if you count mission types (which I was talking about!). Someone told me there are about 8 different daily events which reward you with Gold bullion (you only need about 500,000 + to buy all the new Plans so see you in about 2 years!!).[..]

It seems that public events give treasury notes now. I just did Free Range because it was there and in addition to the usual reward I got some treasury notes. Or a treasury note. I didn't look at how many. The help for bullion does say that public events give treasury notes. I thought it was only the two new public events, but it isn't.

I chose to do the Raiders end game mission as I prefer their rewards (several backpack mods apparently amongst all the weapons & other goodies). I would have to play again from the start with a new character & get them to level 20 before I could attempt the Wastelanders as The Foundation then give the Plans at the end to my main character! This is not going to happen anytime soon as its too time consuming so I am happy to miss some of the content from the Wastelanders end game rewards in favour of The Raiders instead.

I chose to side with Foundation because I thought they were a better choice, although the Crater raider faction is a lot less psycho raider than most raider factions. Some form of co-existence could be worked out with them. I also chose to split the gold between the factions, so I'm still OK with both factions.

The only new plan I've been able to get from either faction is a bow. Tiny woo. Oh, and I got a legendary Old Guard 10mm SMG, which is probably new. I haven't seen the "Old Guard" thing before. I think the new plans are tied to faction reputation, which I think I can continue to gain from both factions from daily quests. Although I'm up to 3rd or 4th level reputation with both factions and their vendors don't have any new plans apart from the bow.

I'm finding some nice little random encounters, e.g. I was walking from vault 79 to the nearest train station (to scrap stuff because I was encumbered and couldn't fast travel) when I heard someone muttering to themselves in tent by a ruined military roadblock. I looked in and found a scavver there, trying to force open a container because they didn't have any bobby pins. I have a couple of thousand, so I gave them 20 and they gave me half the stuff in the container.

Next time, I'm going to start working on ally quests.

[..]
Multiplayer has never been my thing but I was curious to see how it looked and ran on the console. I lasted less than an hour before I got cheesed off with idiots being idiots online.

So. Wastelanders gets released and I spent all night downloading another 58 GB (I live out in the sticks with a 12MB at best connection) thinking this could be a great single player game like Fallout 4. Haha. What? First time I left the vault this morning and there are 2 "people" waiting outside. One asked me to trade and I ignored him. So the pair of them shot me to death. WTF!!!

Now Uninstalled and it's going on Ebay (for more than I paid for it) I hate multiplayer games. Always have. Always will.

FTS

So do I, but there is something you can do in FO76 to mitigate the problem - turn pacifist mode on. It's in the game settings somewhere. I forget where because I turned it on ASAP and left it on ever since. With pacifist mode on, you shouldn't be able to harm other players and they shouldn't be able to harm you. There was an exploit which griefers were using to circumvent that, but I never encountered it and it might have been fixed by now.

Calculated that you need 6900 Gold for the entire set of T65 PA Plans   as you can only get a max of 70 Gold per day from events its going to take a long time to buy that lot! For all the new Plans (there are about 100!!) you need at least 500,000 Gold (this includes the Vault94 rewards like Strangler PA & Solar Armour as well as Secret Service). You also need lots of Vault Steel for some of these & they are limited to you can only buy 3 per day apparently! Once a week you can spend 6000 Caps & buy 300 extra Gold from a vendor.

Some random things I noticed:
Display Cases & Player Vendor Machines are both currently disabled due to a new duping hack means the ingame economy was destroyed by players being able to dupe anything in large numbers very quickly. Wait for Bethesda to hotfix but not until Tuesday can they do it apparently.
Currently Drink, Food & Fusion Cores all run out very fast.
Currently all player & PA armour is also not working properly either you can easily get killed by the most basic level NPC with 1 hit!
PA External lights for new Wastelanders content bundle are broken & do not render at all.
Fast Travel has about a 50-50 chance of working first time.
The endgame missions & infact all Ally missions are very buggy. If you quit the game before completing them fully when you rejoin most of the time it takes several server hops to find a world where your mission will complete as crucial mission completion items do not even respawn as they should due to new instancing rules.
T65 PA Helmet (lvl 30 only) you can get from a certain mission as its just sitting there on a PA frame behind an easy to unlock cage door! The actual plan takes weeks to get the gold for this seems to be the only way to wear it right now.
The Rusty Pick is the new location for the Purveyor & he sells Vault Steel for 10 scrip but you can only buy 3 Vault Steel per day & need 100s of it :rolleyes:

So much for the PTS  the lack of QA & broken fundamental gameplay & end game missions is absolutely shocking  Clearly PTS was just a PR stunt to test server stability as no way did so much fundamental stuff get missed.

Well I've started playing this again with my wife & bug's aside really enjoying it. Yesterday I stumbled across the Flatwoods monster.. although it was bugged so it didn't fight back:P

The cap from events is 200 gold per day, not 70. Allegedly. Since numerous events drop treasury notes, as does the scorchbeast queen, I don't know for sure if there is a daily cap. I've also read that there's a cap of 12 treasury notes on you at any one time.

Here's something about fusion core usage that probably isn't intentional - using VATS drains fusion cores extremely rapidly. So rapidly that it's visible. Just tap VATS on and off a few times and you will see the fusion core meter jerk downwards. You could drain an entire core in a minute or so. Fusion core drain rate is now ridiculous. I doubt if it's possible to scav enough cores to play at the moment. Crafting cores is utterly impractical due to the farcical cost in flux. So buying cores from other players is required, which can't really be done at the moment as hardly any player shops are working. None of them are supposed to be, but a few still are. I had a stockpile of about 60 fusion cores and I'm down to 37 now. Over 20 cores used in a couple of days, plus the ones I found while playing. That's not a balance.

It seems that all public events drop treasury notes for players who have completed the main Wastelanders quest. I just got 2 treasury notes for completing the giant teapot event. 3 for the free range event. Only public events though, the ones that are announced to all players and appear as a larger diamond with a black border.

This is a little draconian! I just got banned from voting on Steam for a month for upvoting ONLY a POSITIVE Fallout 76 player review on there along with another 1100 + players who also upvoted it :(:rolleyes:

1100+ people were banned from voting for a month for upvoting a positive review? Or you were banned and the other 1100+ people weren't?

What was the reason given, if any? Are there any details available anywhere?

EDIT: I did the obvious thing I should have done first and looked for myself. It's a very large number of people who've had their voting suspended for voting on at least quite a few different reviews. Probably an automated censorship error at Valve. My guess would be a large spate of reviews and votes from accounts showing almost no time played on a newly released game triggered automated bot detection and issued a huge slew of suspensions. A person would realise that's due to people having played FO76 through the Betheda launcher, but a bot wouldn't.

Yes your right its 200 max per day (I have another 40 to earn today but cba as its such a tedious grind!). It will take 6 weeks grinding @ 200 gold per day to get enough to buy the T65 Power Armour pieces @ 6900 Gold. Then another 6 months to buy all the mods for it (Jetpack & Cal Shocks are each about 4 weeks grind alone!). They can keep it as the majority of the game is the same as it ever was. You can also buy 300 per week from a new vendor @ 6000 Caps.

All Wastelanders did was:

Prove PTS was a waste of time as so many serious bugs they now disabled player vendor shops & display cases until its hotfixed next week. Clearly PTS feedback was weak (most were USA based players).
Prove the base game design on this game engine is broken way beyond repair.
Prove the original release was 2 years premature.
Prove the inclusion of MP & Cp-Op was a massive mistake.
Prove Bethesda have run the franchise into the ground probably best to rest it a few years now.

I only voted on that one positive F76 review! If Bethesda gifted you a copy of F76 due to you already owning it on Bethesda.net & linking to your Steam account then according to your Steam account you do not even own the game! Oh well if its a mistake or not very poor decision I will not bother voting again on any game on Steam as I hardly buy anything from it anyway nowadays!!

Just to counter the above, I've really enjoyed F76, even with it's "areas of opportunity".

Unbanning people on Steam now apparently but the damage is already done! They also banned a deaf user after he asked for text chat as he could not use a mic obviously  :(

You're not wrong about the fusion cores. I'm trying to avoiding using VATS whilst in PA, and have added a Targeting HUD into my helmet to assist within spotting enemies.

Which had nothing to do with them being deaf. They suspended the voting privileges of numerous people. Not a ban. Not intentional. Not specifically targetting that person who's deaf. When things like this are automated, problems like this happen.

Incidentally, the most likely reason for the lack of comms in an MP game is laws regulating comms in MP games. It's far, far easier to just not put it in than it is to make it compliant and to deal with the negative publicity that inevitably results even if you do make it compliant. Sooner or later someone will abuse it.

Publisher X puts comms in a game
Person Y uses that comms for harassment, grooming, something else bad
Stories in media read "PUBLISHER X ENABLES HARASSMENT, GROOMING AND ALL BAD THINGS!"

I'm hoping it's a bug that Bethesda will fix (and probably break again in the future with another fix for something else, since that often happens). They've done that at least half a dozen times with fusion core drain rate (and food and water use) so far, though this is the worst so far. If it's deliberate, it would have to be a deceitful attempt to force players to use unpowered armour instead.

I mainly use gatling guns and that makes VATS bordering on essential for some enemies. The combination of accuracy, aiming options and rate of fire make gatling guns very poor against smaller and/or faster enemies, especially since the Wastelanders patch secretly nerfed gatling guns by greatly reducing their accuracy (without changing the stated accuracy number).

I think VATS isn't supposed to drain fusion cores at all. Why would it and why would such a deliberate imbalance between powered and unpowered armour be deliberate? Unless it's to force players out of power armour.

I had a scoped plasma pistol on me for grinding a couple of the "destroy a vast number of robots" challenges (which only challenge your patience and tolerance of tedium). That reminded me of how much I miss having a scope. Maybe I'll switch back to a rifle/shotgun build. I picked up a vampire handmade gun with a couple of other legendary effects, including explosive IIRC. That might be useful and fun. But I'd need to grind out a whole load of legendaries to get a semi-practical suit of unpowered armour.

I've heard several references in Wastelanders to a (presumably new) location underneath Harper's Ferry that contains an entire settlement., but I haven't found it. The only thing I know of under Harper's Ferry is The Burrows, which isn't new. Any ideas? Am I missing something?

Not found anything related to that yet but a lot of the new content is obscure once you go past the main quests. I did both faction main quests up to the point of no return to max out rep with each then went with Raiders as better rewards as well as completing 2 ally questlines (Weak rewards. 3 * Alien Blaster which is feeble & a pile of other junk you do not need). The missions are also really poor either fetch quest or assassin quests. You need to explore the entire world to discover all the locations some are not very well advertised.
https://segmentnext.com/2020/04/16/fallout-76-wastelanders-holodisks-and-notes-locations-guide/

I bought all the Bow Plans yesterday. They are really weak DMG wise & cost 16000 Caps. You also get 4 new Bow based Perk Cards to buy but will need to Respec 4 points into Perception to use the best one.

Found you can stockpile Treasure Notes so do as many Public Events or Faction Events in 1 day you just keep hold of the T notes so next day you have less grinding to do to get to the allowed 200 Gold max per day then once a week for 6000 Caps you can buy 300 Gold. Someone estimated the grind for all new Plans from Reg @ Raider Faction is 287 days straight! Just a ridiculous grind really x 2 if you want to get all Foundation Plans as well.

Still struggling to understand what the point of PTS  was so many serious bugs in all the missions. If it refuses to progress Bethesda advice right now is server hop or start again (if it lets you!)

The Caps limit timer is way shorter now than 20 hours do not know the exact limit but reckon its about 10-12 hours now as it keeps resetting. Whether this is another bug or unannounced feature of the currently disabled features?

This is how much is broken & known about what on earth was the point of the PTS! LOL: https://bethesda.net/community/topi...ssues-faq-updated-april-14-2020?language[]=en

SPOILER WARNING: The list of known issues below may contain spoilers for some of the main story quests.

Based on our internal testing and our dedicated testers in the Wastelanders PTS, we’ve pulled together a list of high-priority known issues for the Fallout 76 Wastelanders update. This list is by no means exhaustive, and it does not cover every single issue that has been reported to us. These are highlights of the biggest concerns and frustrations raised by the community and where our team is at on the road to addressing them. As issues are fixed and feedback is implemented, we will evolve this list over time to include new items and remove old ones those that no longer need to be here.

We are always reading over your feedback and bug reports however you decide to post them. The best places to relay your feedback are our official forums, Reddit (notably r/fo76), and through our Customer Support team via ticket.

Below the Known Issues list, we’ve also included answers to a number of frequently asked questions about the Wastelanders update. Be sure to read through them for more details about some of the content that arrived with Wastelanders.

Known Issues

Allies

  • Ally Stations: Storing an Ally Station while an Ally story quest is still active can cause that quest to disappear after rebuilding that Ally Station.
    • STATUS: We are aware of this issue and investigating.
    • Workaround: Logging out and back in will cause the quest to reappear.
  • Quest Markers: Disconnecting while an Ally quest is active may cause the quest’s objective markers to disappear after logging back in.
    • STATUS: We are aware of this issue and investigating.
    • Workaround: Logging out and back in should cause the quest objectives to reappear.
  • Workbenches: Attempting to use a Workbench after an Ally has used it will result in an error message stating that the bench is “in use.”
    • STATUS: We are aware of this issue and we are working on a fix for a future update.
    • Workaround: Turning away from the Workbench and coming back to it should allow you to use it again.
  • Daguerre: Speaking to Daguerre during her questline immediately after fast traveling can prevent Emerson from appearing, blocking questline progression.
    • STATUS: We are currently planning to address this issue in our next major patch.
    • Workaround: Logging out and back in should fix the issue.
  • Hostility: Occasionally, an Ally may begin attacking the player’s C.A.M.P. structures and other objects.
    • STATUS: We are currently planning to address this issue in our next major patch.
    • Workaround: Storing and re-building the object the Ally is attacking should cause the Ally to resume normal behavior.
  • Pathing: Allies and the guests they invite over may have difficulty reaching the player’s C.A.M.P. if it is near a cliff, a water source, or other difficult to navigate terrain.
    • STATUS: We are aware of this issue and investigating.
    • Workaround: Moving your C.A.M.P. to a more accessible location should help Allies and Visitors reach it more easily.

  • Corpses: Enemies wearing helmets, masks, or other headwear may have that headwear reappear after being decapitated.
  • Respawns: Enemies turned into Ash or Goo piles may sometimes respawn naked, immortal, and immobile.
NPCs

  • Animations: NPCs and Allies may sometimes stand in furniture, like chairs and beds, which can cause them to become temporarily unresponsive.
    • STATUS: We are aware of this issue and we are working on a fix for a future update.
    • Workaround: NPCs may exit the furniture on their own and become responsive on their own. Otherwise, logging out and back in should fix the issue.
  • Purveyor: The Purveyor can sometimes stand too far back from the counter to interact with her in first-person view.
    • STATUS: We are currently planning to address this issue in our next major patch.
    • Workaround: Switching to third person view can help you interact with the Purveyor when this occurs. Logging out and back in may also resolve this.
