**** Official Fallout 76 Thread ****

When unlocked the hard cap (and set exclusive fullscreen) I was between 150-178fps at 2560x1440 on just Turbo mode (260W cap on low power BIOS with watercooled Vega 64 reference) on Ultra preset.
Had to turn on the FPS limiter on the drivers to keep it inside the freesync range (30-144). Before doing so, the game was a slideshow.

sounds worse and worse the closer it gets to launch, im expecting a riot when it does ship, i can see it going far beyound fallout vegas and its spinning heads.

GameGPU have tested both CPU and GPU scaling in the game:

https://gamegpu.com/mmorpg-/-онлайн-игры/fallout-76-beta-test-gpu-cpu

It looks like Nvidia is still ahead,so not sure what the Bethesda collaboration has done there.

With the CPU scaling, two cores are pushed the most:

https://gamegpu.com/mmorpg-/-онлайн-игры/fallout-76-beta-test-gpu-cpu

However,Ryzen seems closer to the Intel CPUs in this game.

They tested pretty much every system configuration possible, and there's no sign of any performance issues.

All the reported issues are obviously down to some people not knowing how to setup their systems properly or messing around with the games config files.

Is the Beta still on and open for all or do you need a key?

You need a key.

It depends - the fullscreen mode is fine IIRC,but the borderless windowed one had some problems, and OFC Bethesda must be making improvements after each session.

You need a key. If CDKeys, were not so ****** fail,I might have had a key for you. The big auction site has them for 99p now.
You need a key.

Thanks guys.:)

But after having a read through the last few pages, considering the Bethesda back catalogue I've purchased and the neck on them charging microtransactions for fast travel, having to pay for Beta participation, then no thanks Bethseda.

Just had another go, and this time tried going much further away from the vault.

The overall quality of textures appeared to take a serious nose dive, could just be the lighting having an effect as it's night time in the game now, but that's just poor design either way.

Having played it so far, would not spent £40.

Power Armour seems to be a key item once you can pick one up it does get better.

Found a nasty bug just now cannot respawn & lose all my items which is annoying!

Found a massive Hotel called Whitewater based around a golf club resort. Shame once I got inside the graphics are at least 15 years old they look so old & dated its really shocking.

I am going to carry on playing until 1AM until this final BETA expires might as well!

UPDATE

I fixed the performance by
a) In Fallout76Prefs.ini set the
iPresentInterval=0 (unlock FPS)
bFull Screen=1
bBorderless=0

Does iPresentInterval=0 still break mouse responsiveness, like it does in FO4?

There are bits I'm liking about it, but right now the cons seriously outweigh the pros. I'm not sure I'd play it if it was free, let alone pay £50 + DLC + macrotransactions for it.

The problem is that there all these quests and you know the end is going to be with a dead NPC. Also they are hinting at other factions too - like the Brotherhood of Steal, the Responders, etc?? So has anyone found any of these factions,or are all of them dead or decided to go on holiday??

After 9 hours of exploration (which involved a lot of running, hiding and exploiting hilariously bad AI in order to cope with the enemies designed specifically for a party), Oxhorn found some indication of what might be another faction - the Free States. But they're all dead too. And it's not clear if they are a faction even in that context.

It's like the opening scene of Red Dwarf - Everybody's dead, Dave.

Big map, mostly empty - this game was at least partly designed as a pure PvP MMO. I think Bethesda ended up not knowing what game they wanted to make and trying to mash several very different games together. It hasn't come together very well.

So such issues with the mouse. And I agree with you on the game.

Spent a good 4 hours today however I believe have seen enough also. I encountered only 1 Protector robot. Nothing else.

Idk what they have in mind but they mixed too many things together and failed tbh. It feels a hybrid between PUBGS with Fallout but not good on any of those parts.

As PvP MMO is not. TESO in Cyrodil is pure PvP MMO, and far superior to F76 for those who want PVP (with massive battles). And is a huge B2P game, which can be played as singe player for 1200+ hours before need to interact with other players, while the world feels alive with animals and NPCs. (and microtrancations are only for cosmetic or those who are rushing to improve their horse, something that can be done naturally in game).

From one hand the world feels empty while everything looks nice and shiny, doesn't look grim like on Fallout 3 especially. It just feels that some drought hit the land, not nukes.

Also what has annoyed me a lot is that bloom glare and haven't found a way to turn if off.

All in all doesn't feel the game for me tbh. Maybe in a few years with few expansions adding some content and story could be better.

On Vega 64 at Turbo mode (normal factory boost), it does avg 120 (low 100ish) inside the forest. On the other more open areas with are less dense it goes to 150-178 most of the time.
Idk where they pull 83fps from at 2560x1440 on Ultra as average on their benchmark.

I played it some more. It does have a decent enough atmosphere, for instance Vault-Tec University is quite creepy and the stories of the dead people seem reasonably well told.

However,I do question how much replayability the game will have after the initial story has been finished. Also the lack of living factions also means there is really no goal too.

Also,is it just me,or did anyone noticed some Vertibirds today?? Three of them flying in the sky and some jet powered thingy!

I found it and left it in the building. I only had 2 Fusion cores at that point.

Just finished the final BETA session. Ended @ 2PM due to some but not all US states putting their clocks back 1 hour yesterday (so some US players got 1 hour less so today everyone got 1 hour more!).

PROS:
1: It does tend to grow on you after a bit! I have about 30 hours now from the BETA (got my £1.49 worth just about I think ;)). I can see some small potential but also many issues still.
2: Power Armor is the main key to surviving for long early on. You need to get one (they are random drops) then drop the parts which are too high a lvl for your character (Power Armor has no minimum base lvl I think).
3: Once you have a Power Armor suit its way easier to survive for much longer.
4: Starting to find some more extensive locations. Still nowhere near the size of Fallout 4 though but at least bigger than a few rooms!
5: Now found 4 (countem!) nuke firing codes in Solo. They seem to drop at random and only from a Scorched Conquer with a red flashing satchel in his back (very easy to kill as well).

CONS:
1: So many critical bugs. The latest is if you restart you cannot even select your restart spawn location so must hope the AI decides to place you where you just got killed! It was working up to today now its broken.
2: Most of the enemy AI is very buggy for the animation paths & most jump several frames right near to you making them real hard to take down.
3: Still finding most of the gameplay is built around MMO aspects. Higher lvl characters blocking critical paths is very common.
4: Once you start to lvl up it becomes less of a grind but I am only up to lvl17 after 30 hours of nearly all solo play. At this rate it ill take about 100 hours to get a decent lvl to begin the real missions without a lot of hassle.
5: Still a large empty vacant game world. It feels as though it needs a lot more content right now its pretty empty. I have explored the entire map now not every building but every region & zone.
6: Map size is a total con. You cannot even visit the 15-20% of the extreme border of the map in any direction. You get the std cannot go there message its not anywhere as big as the actual map graphic.
7: Some of the graphics are very weak & ancient looking. I found a massive hotel which had interior graphics which looked way worse than 15 years old PC games! Shocking how Bethesda with all their resource cannot put more effort into the gfx in so many places.
8: Weak constantly degrading weapons (which ALWAYS break in the middle of a battle never before or after!) & constant health drain as well as thirst are really game breaking as you spend most of your time keeping the character healthy instead of enjoying the locations!

Overall I will not be buying it needs so much work & feels so unfinished its more of an early alpha build than release candidate. If Bethesda spent about 12 months just trying to fix bugs & create the NPC's & Solo content say as much as Nuka World or Far Harbour then its something I might buy but only if they create the Ultra HD textures they did for Fallout 4 (which they only did for PS4 Pro initially as Bethesda are such cheapskates!). It needs so much work as right now its a mess with no clear direction. It could be made into something better by the PC community if mods & private servers were allowed I think I would buy & fix the things I dislike with the gameplay.

But we all know its unlikely to go that way so I think this is going to get a tough reception on release date & tbh Bethesda deserve it as they have not created something which was even needed & in the process pushed back their next 2 SP games several years to finish a broken mess which is more of a large Fallout 4 experimental DLC than anything else.

Vertibirds yes I saw those I think Bethesda are tweaking some gameplay aspects via their command console spawns as the sessions continue to see what happens.

Also saw a large crawling creature by water from a distance with glowing red eyes (not Mothman) but something weird I was so low on health so could not get closer!

Replayability will be very low unless mods & private servers on PC are allowed this release will not survive long enough to ever get fixed if this is how poor a state its in right now it needs another year minimum to bring it up to an acceptable standard for the franchise!
