**** Official Fallout 76 Thread ****

How has this now dropped to under £20?? I was interested but the reviews and lets play have made up my mind.
I really feel for those that that bought at full price... its nuts.

I paid full price and haven't regretted it one bit.

You need to discount at least 90% of the Youtube videos. Not because there aren't some with valid issues, but because many haven't even played it and are jumping on the negativity gives hits bandwagon. I've watched a lot and the amount who's opinion is based on what they saw in another video tells you a lot. I think you also need to discount the Bethesdalol brigade on forums. If you have trusted reviewers who you always follow then fair enough, but many posting probably just want to post something negative because.

If you are a Fallout fan maybe wait to see if Bethesda will offer refunds or if they already do, it might be worth trying to see if it fits you. I'm surprised to hear Fallout fans are not enjoying this tbh. Maybe because it is too similar to F4 but to me it's mostly been a very enjoyable Fallout experience. Myself and my 2 sons have been playing mostly as a team and the MP aspect has been a lot of fun. As mentioned before it's an amazingly immersive world and we have come across lots of emergent stuff that just happens.

There are some valid concerns. There are bugs. Weird single player legacy things like the game having trouble updating quests when you are grouped and not getting xp in a group unless you hit the mob. Nothing really terrible though.

If you are a Fallout fan and Bethesda offer a security blanket it's definitely worth a go.

Yeah its safe but only 400lb limit so you have to return now & again to either sell or dump stuff. They are looking at increasing it but not an easy fix as the game tracks every object in your inventory so that makes it hard to increase the limit without bringing the game to a crawl.

So what are you actually not enjoying? I've looked back at your posts for the last week or so in this thread, and about the only things i see you brush on is the fact that the game is MP, and base-building is much more limited than FO4, excluding any buggy parts as these should get fixed in relatively short time.

Given that some bugs for previous Bethesda games were fixed by modders and that can't happen in FO76, I think you're wrong about the bugs in FO76 being fixed in a relatively short time. Or at all in some cases.

I've already said what I'm not enjoying and there are a multitude of other people saying the same thing, but I have a few minutes to summarise while my food is cooking:

The mashup of SP and MP doesn't work well and makes FO76 inferior for both MP and SP.

The gameworld is dead. The bulk of the questing is even less engaging than Preston Garvey's infamous questing in FO4 because that had at least a superficial purpose within the gameworld. In FO76 there's an in-game point to the main quest line and that's it.

The user interface is rubbish. We're not all handicapped by using a controller.

Base building in FO76 is extremely and pointlessly limited. For example, why can't I remove the plants and stones from a site before building? Why can I only build a few turrets despite having the materials and knowledge and space to build dozens? On top of that, it's extremely badly implemented. Random example 1 - I wanted to put small platforms just above head height on a cabin to put turrets on. Forbidden! No access to part of the structure! Nonsense - I'd use a stepladder on the rare occasions access was required. Random example 2 - I placed some stairs (eventually overcoming the extremely bad implementation of building enough to be allowed to place them) at the side of the cabin to provide access to a platform just above head height that I would build afterwards. Then I decided to move the stairs. Forbidden! No access to part of the structure! The stairs accessed nothing at all - I was going to build a platform at the top of the stairs after I'd built the stairs. OK, I'll work around this gratingly bad implementation of building - I'll scrap the stairs to nowhere I just built. Forbidden! No access to part of the structure! It was fine without the stairs, but adding some stairs outside the cabin made the stairs to nowhere essential for accessing...what? No way of knowing because of course the game won't tell you. I had to dismantle the cabin in order to scrap the stairs. Want to build a fence or wall on a slope? NO! FORBIDDEN!

Vanilla FO4 base building was bad enough, but in FO76 it's much worse. In FO4 the problems were mostly solved by modders (especially the Place Everywhere mod). In FO76, that can't happen.

Over on reddit Law firm Migliaccio & Rathod LLP have requested participence who have not been able to receive refunds from Bethesda to join a class action law suit... all based around the quality of the game build not the game play it would seem. As people had downloaded the game, Bethesda refuse refunds on that basis... downloading it..

Not really sure what to think on this one.. would post link but there is potty mouth.. link is on PCGaming reddit

That's nonsense people got refunds no problem from Bethesda after the BETA's. If you play it though then they will not refund obviously!

The game is not that bad either. Fallout 4 DLC is all it is sold as under a different product name.

How are you supposed to determine if the bugs/poor quality affect you unless you play it for a bit

Not everyone will have preordered it (or even if they did been able to fit in time around the (conveniently) limited beta slots)

That is what the 40 hours or so Beta session was for ;) the game is very buggy but also to be fair there is plenty you can do for many hours without bugs affecting you.

I understand why some people are upset but also its not like Bethesda did not warn in advance the game was not going to be a smooth launch a few weeks ago!

I've been playing for a few days now and thoroughly enjoying it. Had a bit of a mishap the second day when the game wouldn't launch - turned out the fallout76.exe somehow got deleted.

For those worried about the multiplayer aspect, the world's are huge and the servers are capped at 24 players, so I've not really bumped into many players yet. Also big difference to FO4 in that you now have to pay caps for fast travel. You're also limited to 400ibs of weight in your "stash" box, unlike FO4 where you had unlimited storage it does mean you've gotta be much more selective with what you want to keep.

The two areas of the game I've noticed have a huge change over FO4, the perk system, and survivability. The perk system you only level the SPECIAL stats, and you get perk cards to use. You've gotta be very selective with the perk bonuses you wish to use, unlike with FO4 where you can can unlock every perk.

Survivability adds much more complexity to the game, with FO4 you only ever had to focus on your health and radiation. With FO76 you've also got to monitor your hunger and thirst. And your player gets thirsty and hungry very often!

The survival aspect of the game is non-existant. Since there is an overflow of food, drink and healing in the game it is just an annoyance

I Think its good. There must be an Eye opener for releasing such unfinished Products and asking full price. Beth knew the game was a disaster with a huge number of bugs and designs that are really not working correctly.
No way they will manage to patch up this game so that it works reliably.

Every design section of this game is heavily bugged,
¨Take combat as example.
1. Stand to Close to enemy and weapon goes through enemy and does not register hit.
2. Hitboxes or server hit register is totally off sometimes.
3. Weapon full reloading even if you just used 1 bullet.
4. When you get really high level damage start to drop and you need several hits to defeat low level enemies.
5. PVP damage calculation is totally weird and stupid.
6. Huge damage drop on distance.
List goes on...

So that's fine then, as long as Bethesda informed people that it is was an un-finished buggy ****-show, they've done their job.
