**** Official Fallout 76 Thread ****

I’m finding the game playable at the moment but had a frustrating event today. Logged off and on and my camp just dissapeared. I could get it back as a blueprint but could not align it properly so had to scrap the whole lot and relocate and rebuild.

I’m thinking that camps are not meant to be perminant and so therefore rebuilt with just a basic structure and then saved the blueprint making sure that none of the items clash with the scenery so it realigns properly if needed.
I thought this happens by design when someone else builds a base in the same area that you have built on, your base is bundled up ready for you to redeploy when you are next in game. The fact that terrain issues make this very difficult if not impossible has been reported on most of the reviews as another failing of the basic structure of the game.

I emailed game too specifically stating that I had not ordered it, but was reporting the advertising and their response was 'whats your order number?'

the coverage this fiasco is getting though I'm not surprised theyve twigged already

I got another reply back from Game this morning just to reaffirm that for any issues with the bag they are not handling any complaint and tell you to contact Bethesda to try and claim the 500 atoms.

So it will take a lawsuit against Bethesda to get anything done.

On another topic, Threezero just announced the X-01 power armour figure so i’ll be pre-ordering that

Not sure about the sword though?

I would have thought that when joining a server it would check to see if your base is in the same cell as another and then warn you and ask to try joining another server?

I don’t think this version of Fallout is one for the base builders out there.

I've gotten so much free entertainment from all the drama surrounding this game that I feel like I should buy it to give something back.

I would have thought if you paid by credit card you'd be able to force at least a partial chargeback under section 75.

Can't be as much entertainment as I've had from my best mate who did buy it and who has been apoplectic with rage ever since installing it. Going around his house is as funny as hell recently. :D

Surely you can return the whole package as "not as described" and do a chargeback? Game sold you a canvas bag, and delivered you a cheaper, lesser nylon version - send the whole lot back.

i purchased this game 3 days ago and so far i spent 45 minutes from the start to some quests around fleetwood town while recording it all and obviously its just like fallout 4 with a different region however the one thing id like to know from anyone on here who is playing it -

[Has anyone come across other players? id imagine this is online from the start, but im not sure if i had to choose anything before launching from the title menu?]

M8, i buy more crap than most people (i mean if we're including all the folks living on a few dollars a day), i love capitalism, but some people live such pitiful lives (sorry not sorry). If you aren't selling these collectors items on at some point then they serve no valid function other than to increase some E-peen that almost no one cares about.

Then again i also enjoy minimalist and abstract styles when it comes to my surroundings, so i may be biased against having a bunch of gaudy **** on shelves as some kind of level up to my personal character.

/may be being extremely mean and harsh to folks, but i just really hate it, it tilts me.

Either way, clearly it's easy to abuse people that are into this, exhibit A being the trash bag in a $200 "game".

Can I interest you in this Stalker coin i've been holding onto? :D

When in game, if you look at the map you will see little dots over the map with player names next to them. There is a max of 26 people on a server so you'll only see 25 others as a max.

Pie eater is correct. It's a feature that when you log into a server if someone has a C.A.M.P in the vicinity of where your's will be, it blueprints it all and lets you redeploy for free.

The feature that you've mentioned in your last post about getting a warning before joining a server is due to be implemented in either the patch tomorrow or the one next week. Also they will be adding the ability to clear out the trash in the area of your C.A.M.P in the same patch and also fixing the issue of not being able to redeploy a base due to a ground level as well, so some good improvements on the way.

Hmm. would be better with a blaster type weapon for me.

Getting towards the end game now. Its very much Fallout 4 DLC but the game world is absolutely massive as you reach higher levels you are able to explore some of the largest Fallout locations they have made to date if not the largest. There is a lot of content here buried away to discover.

As I have said before despite some silly bugs & very weird forced MMO design choices its very much Fallout 4 DLC & can be played Solo no problem its rare to encounter anyone who wants to fight (you also get someone trying to steal stuff from you now & again). The camp building & base building stuff is appalling though & also the weight limits are ridiculous for Stash & Character I hope they both get increased soon.

I understand the hate 76 gets but also to be fair if you liked Fallout4 there is plenty of good content here buried away and as the game world is so vast there are a lot of stories being told via the Holotapes, Notes & Robots. Its very similar to Fallout New Vegas Old World Blues DLC storytelling which unfolded via mainly non NPC's.

I'm Level 70something and I have only been subject to one shot from another player.
The base building needs some things ironing out, principally the trouble rebuilding blueprints and base disappearance. But I have gained a lot of satisfaction out of constructing my base. If you choose a spot carefully (somewhere not likely to taken by another player) the base is more likely to stay. It is not appalling.
It will be nice to have a higher stash limit, but if you make scrap into bulk items it is very manageable. Also if you have an excess of material you think won't get used you can reduce the weight by taking it out and selling it for good caps.

Had one toxic player when I was around level 6. He came along and destroyed my entire camp and then started pvp. He was level 20 so I had no option but to run or quit and join another server.

Took me another 2 hours of play to recover all the materials to rebuild my small camp.

That’s the only pvp i’ve come accross but you know the old saying ‘everywhere I go there’s always a bumhole’

aha okay then thanks for that, i didnt see anything on the map at the time as it was after 10pm, but its a global game, so who knows, it seemed like a random server choice as i clicked 'join', so i didnt choose anything to join, is it random or do i have the choice? i was too eager to play and record for my channel ha.

ah right i see, well that sounds typical of any multiplayer survival game, suppose its good its not like ARK where you can spawn right in front of an high level player, suppose in some cases its not fun when you trying to progress and learn the ropes.

i might put it back on in a bit to check all this out.

well reviews did say its basically fallout 4 with multiplayer, you could probably look at it like gta online apart from FO76 is standalone, got to be said though, regardless of my settings and not played FO4 for a bit, the graphics doesnt seem to look as nice in some places in this new one.

Just getting round to replying to your comments after playing this for quite a bit more.

I have ran into a number of bugs when doing quests, some which stop you completing them, most of the workarounds tend to be to just world hop, so whilst annoying, it's not the end of the world.

The mashup of SP and MP doesn't work well and makes FO76 inferior for both MP and SP.

The gameworld is dead. The bulk of the questing is even less engaging than Preston Garvey's infamous questing in FO4 because that had at least a superficial purpose within the gameworld. In FO76 there's an in-game point to the main quest line and that's it.

What're you not liking about the SP/MP? I've been playing both SP and MP and finding them both fine.

I disagree with the gameworld being dead, the map is huge, and throwing in lots of different area events and daily events, along with the possibility of someone setting off a nuke, means there's plenty to go and explore.

Questing comes in a variety of types, and with the majority being side quests, you can pick and choose the ones that interest you.

The user interface is rubbish. We're not all handicapped by using a controller.

Base building in FO76 is extremely and pointlessly limited. For example, why can't I remove the plants and stones from a site before building? Why can I only build a few turrets despite having the materials and knowledge and space to build dozens? On top of that, it's extremely badly implemented. Random example 1 - I wanted to put small platforms just above head height on a cabin to put turrets on. Forbidden! No access to part of the structure! Nonsense - I'd use a stepladder on the rare occasions access was required. Random example 2 - I placed some stairs (eventually overcoming the extremely bad implementation of building enough to be allowed to place them) at the side of the cabin to provide access to a platform just above head height that I would build afterwards. Then I decided to move the stairs. Forbidden! No access to part of the structure! The stairs accessed nothing at all - I was going to build a platform at the top of the stairs after I'd built the stairs. OK, I'll work around this gratingly bad implementation of building - I'll scrap the stairs to nowhere I just built. Forbidden! No access to part of the structure! It was fine without the stairs, but adding some stairs outside the cabin made the stairs to nowhere essential for accessing...what? No way of knowing because of course the game won't tell you. I had to dismantle the cabin in order to scrap the stairs. Want to build a fence or wall on a slope? NO! FORBIDDEN!

I'm not sure what you're finding problematic about the user interface?

Base building was a bit complicated to understand the mechanics, just like you I ran into problems building and removing stuff, but after get a hang of the mechanics I know what I can/can't do. I've not had any problems building turrets on a platform just above head height.

I know the frustrations with the camp budget, but I guess this is to stop people building some absolute monster of a base. Who knows, perhaps they'll up the camp budgets.

Also I hear the next patch will allow you to alter the terrain.

The survival aspect of the game is non-existant. Since there is an overflow of food, drink and healing in the game it is just an annoyance

I did think that at first until visiting a nuclear blast site and burning through a stack of radx/radaways/stimpacks, it's surprising how much you consume when not in normal environment.
