**** Official Fallout 76 Thread ****

Had one toxic player when I was around level 6. He came along and destroyed my entire camp and then started pvp. He was level 20 so I had no option but to run or quit and join another server.

Took me another 2 hours of play to recover all the materials to rebuild my small camp.

That’s the only pvp i’ve come accross but you know the old saying ‘everywhere I go there’s always a bumhole’

Seems unfortunate that was your early game experience. You'll only be able to build your base out of wood or steel at the start until you unlock further plans, and luckily those are the two easiest resources to come across - scrap pretty much any weapon and you'll get wood and steel out of it. Also if you do find someone has destroyed part of it, you can use the repair all structures option on the camp item.

2PM tomorrow afternoon the servers go down for maintenance & the new patch deployment. Last week it was supposed to only take 2 hours it was almost 6 hours later until it was up again!!

Sounds exactly like Quake Champions.

I would have thought that when joining a server it would check to see if your base is in the same cell as another and then warn you and ask to try joining another server?

Bethesda have said that they plan to change it to that within a couple of weeks. They've also said they'll allow some (unspecified) ground clearing in a camp. Essentially a very cut-down version of scrapping in FO4.

It's pretty clear they have no clue what they're doing but at least they might at least partially fix some of the simpler and more obvious mistakes they made.

I don’t think this version of Fallout is one for the base builders out there.

Absolutely not. Even if the base building was made only half as bad as vanilla FO4 (it's sort of impressive that they managed to make it far worse than the already very bad base building in vanilla FO4) it's still useless because the building budget is tiny. A 2x2 cabin with a few turrets and an adhesive farm is as far as you can go. I'll need to scrap another turret to build a power armour station. Which won't fit in the tiny cabin anyway.

In FO76 you're not building a base. You're building a camp, i.e. a simple temporary structure.

When in game, if you look at the map you will see little dots over the map with player names next to them. There is a max of 26 people on a server so you'll only see 25 others as a max.

You'll probably have to search because the game is so unpopular that the usual number of players per server is 1-5, not 26. Which is a good thing - the game would be much worse with more players.

The most common "interaction" with other players is to go to a location and find it empty because another player went through it earlier and it hasn't respawned yet. Yay!

I've played for dozens of hours and been shot at twice. The first time was my mistake - I picked up a leather right arm from a container in a location containing a workshop without checking if it was owned. It was and the owner shot me. Oops! The second time was some random arse firing missiles at me. ~L60 and in power armour - I was L23 and in leather armour. I walked away, unsurprisingly. No idea what they thought would happen.

aha okay then thanks for that, i didnt see anything on the map at the time as it was after 10pm, but its a global game, so who knows, it seemed like a random server choice as i clicked 'join', so i didnt choose anything to join, is it random or do i have the choice? i was too eager to play and record for my channel ha.

It's random, it will just assign you to a random server. If you are playing with friends you can join directly on them and vice versa.

I did see some people when I played last night, there was a bunch of player dots all over the map and I even interacted with 2, I’m only level 5 and the one okay was double figures and the 2nd was level 4, I did try to kill that one while hey wave machete at me lol, but the guns I have don’t do enough damage, so they ran off and I got to the farm bit where you can start base building.

The base building seems similar to 4 with maybe the odd options, but it is annoying at the same time, I couldn’t fit a door, so my base while guarded with turrets has a big opening, not stashed anything and don’t know what it means when your not playing, but the camera angles could be better to be able to tell where you can fit things, guess like others have said it needs ironing out.

Gonna have to order that, well I'll probably order two, as I've still got the Nuka Cola T-51 armor pack sitting there unused, with no power armor frame to put it on.

I've messaged my usual contact for Threezero in the UK, PM me if you need it. I would have thought they would have done something special for maybe the last release in this range. Like the Gatling laser or missile launcher?

Would be nice if Threezero did a weapons pack or something with all the missing weapons to go display with them.

I've also logged my ticket for the replacement canvas bag.

Servers back up now PC patch is only 40Mb. 1.0.20.0 this is the patch which increase stash size to 600 & a few other key fixes!

I've gotten so much free entertainment from all the drama surrounding this game that I feel like I should buy it to give something back.

Star Citizen, NMS, BFV, Star Wars BF2, the list goes on and on. More fun to be had with the backlash than the games, what a sad state of affairs - on the other hand it's free.

How could I have forgotten not Diablo 4?

What I don't like though is how these big studios respond when someone calls them out on their stupid decisions. They act like the fans are idiots.

The way Blizzard responded to people booing them over Diablo 4 is a good example:

And EA trolling fans over BFV, as they crumbled to SJW's. You can't saying your producing a historically accurate shooter, then have a female British front line soldier with warpaint on, with a prosthetic arm from 2018, armed with a cricket bat with barbed wire wrapped round it and not expect complaints...

How many SJW's are going to play BFV anyway?

If they'd used women in historically accurate roles such Russian women crewing tanks, as snipers or flying planes, no-one would have complained.

Yep because it's accurate. People don't play WW2 games for fiction.

They basically made up something silly to tick the (now seemingly mandatory) "disabled person" and "feminism" box and said job done. The re-writing of history pleased some of the more "progressive" reviewers (enough for them to ignore the games other obvious flaws), but gamers aren't impressed at all and aren't buying the game.

Gamers are fighting back on all fronts, enough is enough. Anyway, that's enough from me on this thread re the gaming industry, I don't want to take derail the thread away from people who are actually playing F76 and are discussing it.
