**** Official Fallout 76 Thread ****

When I'm out and about I pick up chems and legendary weapons that are not worth keeping and I've got 20,000 caps, spent 6k yesterday on some mutations I wanted, had to buy what I wanted as I spent two days sitting in radationated water at black water mines.x

If they're 1* and less than 100 caps then i tend to drop them on the ground, if they're more then i sell at the vendors.

People do still buy 1* legendary's, i guess it just depends on which ones.

Ahhh right. I don't know how you manage to run out of caps so quick! :p Are you visiting the traders each day?

I'm now a bit skinter than i was, ran off earlier to buy this monster for 13k caps. This was absolutely shredding those super mutants.

Although as you saw, shooting in too close range ended up killing myself! :D:D:D Was great fun though!
Yeah that weapon is a monster  how did you earn so many caps ? I keep running out by buying plans & mods for my 15 x Power Armours!

@AWPC wow that was intense! :D

When we were exploring I started to put the shotgun away as I was just killing everything. Then when I two hit that Mirelurk Queen, I thought I've gotta try this on a scorchbeast. Didn't expect to be caught amongst three of them! And it really shows how much health they have when my single hit does 1k damage and you can see it barely dropping their health bar.

Great fun tonight though!

15!!! I think that probably explains why you're always low on caps :p.

My main source of income is guns and drugs!

Well unwanted legendaries and surplus drugs. 7 vendors = 1400 caps a day, probably costs 100 to fast travel amongst them all. Then I probably pick up 100-300 a day from stashes/drops/events. Should easily make 10k caps in a week.

Damn went to buy son a copy but cdkeys sold out.:(

They stopped selling the game when they couldn't get people to buy it at £10. There's no point trying to resell keys for a game people don't want even at £10.

I do have a melee weapon but I like shooting stuff :D

I never use melee and I'm having no problems. Perks are key. Most relevantly, I have Gunsmith 5 in play all the time. That halves the rate of decay of guns. I'll pick up repair perks in a few more levels. I'm L55 now and picking up less useful perks that I'll use in some circumstances and that's one of them. I think it's very useful to have two hands of cards - one for general play and one for crafting. So for crafting I'll swap out some cards I usually use and swap in Ammosmith, Super Duper, repair perks, that sort of thing. That at least doubles the amount of ammunition I make for the same resource use and doubles the condition of the items I repair. I rarely have less than 2000 rounds on me now and my weapons rarely break and I never run out of resources. Not even springs and screws. The last time one of my weapons broke was on an extended exploration run in which I killed hundreds of high level ghouls and scorched and 4 scorchbeasts without bothering to repair anything.

The requrement for screws goes down a lot once you've settled on weapons and modded them. I've been using a L50 combat shotgun and L45 hand made rifle for a while now without any further changes to them, so I only need screws for repairs.

[..] The excavator mods are much easier to obtain as there's several vendors selling them, i've picked up a few, but unfortunately never had luck with calibrated shocks. [..]

Which vendors? I've only found 2 and neither was from a vendor.

how are people making caps? i havent found any decent way of making caps yet :/

Selling to vendors, bearing in mind these things:

1) There are 7 factions of vendors, each of which has 200 caps per day. So the maximum cap gain is 1400 per day, although you'll spend some on fast travelling between vendors. There's a map somehere online showing all the stationary vendors and which faction they're in. Vendors in the same faction share caps, vendors in different factions don't. The name "Dulfy" comes to my mind in connection with the map.

2) A vendor will buy any junk item and will pay a minimum of 1 cap for it. They'll also buy harvested plants, burnt books...all sorts of things. Things that most players ignore because they're of no use. Load up on junk and sell it. Go to a station, have a walk around it and pick up the empty bottles, salt and pepper, newspapers, fungus, toilet rolls...everything. 1 cap each and the vendor is right there to sell to. You'll probably get at least 20 caps just from the junk you find at the station. It's easy to get 200 caps worth. If you ever find yourself with too much of anything in particular, you can bulk it at the tinkerer's bench and sell the bulked stuff too. I bulk everything in my stash - it reduces the weight a bit so you can stash more stuff. Not much, e.g. bulking 180 wood reduces the total weight by 3. But every bit helps.

3) Chems are extremely common, quite valuable, don't weigh much, can be sold to any vendor and you probably won't be using most of them. So pick them all up and sell the ones you aren't using.

I don't work at it and I generally make about 500 caps per day that I'm playing just from stuff I pick up while exploring. 1000 caps per day would be pretty easy if you worked at it.

I have another question or two myself:

Are nuked flora instanced per player or not? I want to enter nuked zones to gather flux, but I don't want to take it if someone else did the work of launching the nuke and wouldn't be able to take it if I took it first.

Does the construction perk affect how much you can build, i.e. does an item crafted with fewer resources take up less of the building budget? I was going to test, but then I noticed that my building budget bar doesn't show a percentage used. It shows a percentage in store, but not a percentage used. To test, I'd have to craft enough turrets to fill the bar, scrap them all, equip the perk, craft enough turrets to fill the bar and compare how many turrets. Lots of faff, lots of resources.

Where are the unruly golfer feral ghouls for the misc. quest in Whitesprings? I've been all over the place and killed hundreds of feral ghouls in the quest target area, but not got a single one that counts for the quest.

Infuriatingly rare spawn in the golf clubhouse area and up towards the cabins, I've killed them both inside and out. There are also reports of people finding them in the outdoor utility area of the whitesprings. I have no proof but I feel at higher levels they dont spawn as often, I think the higher level ghouls take its place, but they do still spawn now and again, I had two in one visit once. I still havnt finished the quest myself...

Its messed up someone with 6k DMG per hit still needed to hit them several times!

Sure was intense especially when I dropped the mini nukes & 1 got bounced back at me by the scorchbeast :)

Yeah I should cut down on my Power Armour addiction ;) but still managed to find a few more plans & mods I did not have so spent another 3K on them :D I just cannot stop or help myself!

Found another route with plenty of Excavator mods or Plans:

1: Lewisburg Station
2: Welch Station
3: Camden Park

Keep travelling or fast travelling between those 3 locations (they are all very close together anyway) & eventually you should be able to get most of the Excavator PA mods or Plans I have been told by someone who got them from there!

They stopped selling the game when they couldn't get people to buy it at £10. There's no point trying to resell keys for a game people don't want even at £10. Its back in stock @ £13.99 I think its selling really well tbh despite its flaws its still fun at times & highly addictive!

I want to enter nuked zones to gather flux, but I don't want to take it if someone else did the work of launching the nuke and wouldn't be able to take it if I took it first. Nope its a free for all but it seems to be spawned per player world & keeps respawning until the blast zone fades away. There is a Green Thumb Perk as well which gives you x2 each type which helps a little.

Its currently bugged I got that quest ages ago but read on the official forums its been disabled for now so wait for the patch! I also have many other broken Challenges from being a BETA player I cannot get about 10 different Challenges until they patch it to reset the counters as mine are all stuck so I am sitting on about 400 easy Atoms if they ever get around to patching that.

Which vendors? I've only found 2 and neither was from a vendor.

I typically cycle between both at Watoga, and also Lewisburg. AWPC mentions a couple of others.

That's quite a bit of faff though, i would just stick with your third point, and collect chems. With lvl 3 hard bargaining and a Grape mentats you can sell Stimpacks for 9ea. Psycho/Fury etc sells for about 7/8 ea. It doesn't take many to rake in 200 caps.

I'm not actually aware of the construction perk, and thought i had unlocked every perk now, will have to check again later.

As for farming flux, i'm not 100% sure if they're player instanced. I went over to the prime fissure site long after a nuke had dropped (but just before the blast zone vanished) and had no problem farming 40 violet flux. Even if it wasn't instanced, i really wouldn't worry too much, there's masses of nuked flora around to harvest that there's plenty for everyone. Also majority of people launching nukes don't do it for the nuked flora, it's either farming legendaries at whitespring, or taking on the scorchbeast queen.

Seems most of my woes are just perk/level related. Seems to be easing off a bit now a few levels higher. :)

Storage seems to be constantly full though, best have a clear out of crap!

Sell the Flux's as well at any vendor with the Grape Mentats & Hard Bargain +3 Perk is what I have been doing but still ALWAYS out of Caps  due to PA mods & plans purchasing addiction ;)

I had a storage issue. And then I realised my obsessive collecting and scrapping guns had resulted in my having a bit of an overage of some junk, such as 3000 steel scraps in my stash. :o

Scrap all junk (apart from the stuff you scav from nuke blast zones NEVER scav that until you have used the chemical station to process or you lose it!). This reduces weight also their is a Perk to reduce Junk weight by 90% so work towards that as well it makes a big difference.

You get a lot of useful junk from scrapping guns & weapons plus it counts towards the Atoms you earn ingame from the challenges to buy Cosmetic items without using real money to buy the Atoms;) I have well over 6000 Atoms from ingame challenges alone that would cost you around £50 to buy which I would never do (but Bethesda hope some players do to make up the earnings they get back from the game!).

Odd session... Lots of rare creatures making appearances, both mothman and flatwoods monster decided they would actually play with me instead of bolting, neither were particularly tough, 20-30sec battles each, worthless drops though which was disappointing, then again I didnt expect any better.
Having lots of loading screen freezes on fast travel at the moment though, unsure if my system or game, I am running new OC at 4.9Ghz (prime stable) but everything else seems fine just FO76.

I have those freezes recently. If I give it a minute or so/attempt to do some alt tabbing it generally just carries on. Quite frustrating.

Same here and its a staple of the Creation engine, I've also had them in Skyrim, FO3, FONV & FO4 and FO4 VR. Some mods improve things massively in those games but it seems Bethesda cba to fix it in 76.
