Can anyone recommend me a decent Icon striker for under a budget of around £150k?

I'm currently using Haaland in my Premier League team and while he's pretty good I do find him a bit "clunky" from time to time and fancy splashing out on my first Icon!

I'm not sure you'd get anybody decent at that price. I'd rather use centurion Vardy or Hero Keane.
 
I mean I’m only just starting out but got my eyes on that TOTY Icon Sanchez. With your fodder and coins, could you not do him within a few days?

Recycle the coins into upgrade SBCs?

Centurion Vardy looks nice - presume he is linked to the Premier League though? A bonus of an Icon was the flexibility to use in different teams!

Yep, Vardy is in the EPL. The issue with icons this year as they don't add chem to your regular players unless they're the same nationality.
 
Has anyone played any of the online tournaments?

I just tried one and thought it might be good fun since I won my opening game 2-0........ but then found myself 5-0 down inside 20 minutes of the 2nd game!?!?!? :eek:

Bearing in mind I had 4 kick-off's during that time and after a couple of goals I simply wanted to keep the ball to settle a bit, the pace and ferocity of the other guy's team closed my players down was absolutely ridiculous - with my sole venture into his half being met by a lightning fast crunching tackle where the ball flew at about 100mph over my goal....giving him a corner!?! (which of course he scored from!)

Safe to say I'll not be trying that mode ever again! :D
 
Some people just have the winning combination of being good, experienced (know how to exploit novice players, especially with positioning for interceptions) and a strong team. I've had my share of maulings and probably lose 70% of matches I play online (some days it is worse, I lost all 12 games on Homegrown Eleven friendly, couldn't even get 1 win this week haha). What I would say is you can normally get a feel in the first quarter of the game how good they are, like I had one game where I was 0-4 down at half time but brought it back to 4-4 in the second half, I felt they were decent but not crazy good, other times I just know because they win the ball back quickly and are clinical attacking, I know I'm never getting back in those games. The tough games are the ones where I struggle to even get near their box with possession of the ball.

I was thinking about this the other day, I just completed Cech but obviously I don't have any Czech players in my team, previously I had Martinez honourable mention who obviously would give chem to e.g. Messi and Di Maria, before that Butland WW who again had links to my Prem players like De Bruyne and Thiago Silva. I now have 4 icons in my team which is kind of a bad number, it feels like you just want a couple so the other players can share chem, or you want a whole load of them.
So it's like I have Maldini but no other Italians, Puyol but not Spaniards except Hero Morientes who gets 3 chem anyway, Cech but no other Czechs...

Yeah I can usually tell whether it's going to be a competitive game but this one was just different somehow!

I was losing possession within a couple of seconds because of the speed I was being closed down - every player just pressing with an unnatural speed!

The thing that got me was the tackle deflection that literally flew at ridiculous speed to give them a corner - I've never seen the ball move that quickly!
 
Probably they had tactics set to Constant Pressure, you can't really do that for a whole game as it causes too much fatigue but I suspect some players just try to blow away their opponent in the first 30mins and cause a ragequit so the stamina thing isn't an issue if they manage that. If a team has good players on full chem with constant pressure with a skilled human cutting out passing lanes and using second man press they will cause a lot of turnovers against casual players. The depressing bit is when you kick off and try a slightly different passing route but they get possession and go straight down your end and score.
 
Cruised up to Division 5 without a defeat, despite using a horrific team in comparison to most. Tbh, I've heard anything below Div 4 is pretty tragic.

I really need some better players, as my CBs and fullbacks are getting rinsed for pace against the juiced up cards.

I've done Bale, as he's about as good as it's going to get for a super sub for now.
 
This weekend games were a slog. I really didn’t get on with Yaya, seemed to never be where I needed him to be, sluggish and a terrible shot. Proper downgrade on Marchisio! I know no one shares this opinion but I didn’t like him.

I also want Ginola back.
 
Nice. Untradeable?

I keep facing him, and loads of other TOTY players it seems. None of them feel mega special. Messi was missing all kinds of sitters.
 
Untradable came out of the daily login packs. Benzema is decent, not worth 3 million obviously but he is good. Perfect CAM for the 352 formation I play. I used Messi and Haaland, Messi is great all the usual stuff you’d expect. Haaland is more meh, doesn’t seem all that different to his gold card to be honest.

VVD is meant to be the one that has the biggest upgrade.

Played a few games with KDB, has an absolutely wicked shot, brilliant passing and seems very good, but nothing to get massively excited about. Then again, the game is pretty meh.
 
I've used the TOTY VVD card for 7 games on-loan and he feels like a different beast in comparison to other FIFA's, seems way quicker and more agile.

Is the New Year Cheer pack worth the 80k?

I'm loathed to spend that many coins for what I'm pretty sure will be a load of untradeable duplicates and a single swap token!
