***Official Final Fantasy XIV Thead***

Hmm was able to get on but had to log out, needed to change some settings, couldnt see anyway of doing it in game, is there anyway of enabling vsync, im getting some tearing.

I dont know how much Ive downloaded, Put it on at 11 this morning, half past it was at 70% on something, just got back in, its on 2.7%!

I give up, used the config tool and set it to the lowest settings and no AA at 1920x1080 and still only getting 18-22 fps something is seriously wrong with that.

This interface is going to give me a stroke.

How do I res?
It prompted me to use anima or something so I clicked ok and nothing happened. How do I get it to come back?????

Edit: There's no help system, there's no tutorial, there's no 'obvious' way of doing things.
Oh and that flashing icon that appeared on your screen? You should have clicked that.
But there are 2 other flashing things on your screen already? So what! You should be clicking on stuff on the off-chance you're supposed to.

yeah the learning cruve is def a bit step in fact it might be a vertical cliff playing around u get the feel for stuff but i agree there should be a tut or something

How's this running for people on a 460? I'm running it at mostly default settings at 1680x1050 on my 8800GT and it's a bit choppy in the wild, makes me want to upgrade.

Yeah it's pretty bad, far more manageable when using a pad though (not too surprising I guess).

Yeah, the best way to play this game is to use a pad. Its the way it was intended and is common place in Japan according to SE.

As for the steeper learning curve... yeah it is a bit. You've got to keep in mind that most western MMO's simply copy from eachother, so players generally have a certain mindset before going into them. FFXIV on the otherhand is different to the western norm and goes about things in its own way.

It takes a day of trying stuff out to get comfortable with the basics. The game is basically run through the menu system. Coming across anything, crystals, chests, party/LS invites, trades, synths etc, is all done through the main menu system that highlights symbols. Once you get used to it, everything kind of falls into place very simply.

Forgot to enable fps overlay in fraps, in that image i was getting 8fps, settings were Fullscreen, 1680x1050 ( default is actully 1920x1080 for me ) lowered it down 1 to see if it would increase fps, no AA, buffer size at resolution, had it set at 2/3 but no image, and shadow at lowest, texture quality at lowest and texture filtering at lowest

Edit: just ran the benchmark and got 4586 on the 1920x1080

Does anyone know of a third party torrent programs that will pick up where the offical download left of?

I think I am downloading the big one, but I used utorrent to download the small ones in a matter of seconds.

I can only seem to start from the beginning of teh large one with utorrent and vuze and this 1kbs download is really starting to kill me.

If anyone would mind answering, how do I come back to life?

I was sat there for a good 20 minutes pressing different buttons, went through all the menus.

I'm not impressed at all at the moment.

Go into the main menu and select return.. few complaints about this already ont he beta forums, has been for a whole yet nothing has been done. Even FFXI had an option when you died that came up.. weird thing to take a backwards step on it seems.

Ive uninstalled the beta and wont be bothering with it again.. i also wont be preordering the game, and i dont think ill be buying it untill all the bugs and issues are ironed out, because by what i experienced its going to be a very bumpy launch..especially with that terrible excuse for a downloader

The fps is quite frankly shocking for a game that doesnt really look amazing enough to warrant the dire fps. Network lag is also really quite bad in my experience.

Do casters still have NO mp regen?
