***Official Final Fantasy XIV Thead***

Spent some more time in game.

Still finding the unintuitive UI and software mouse very frustrating. :(

My friend on the other hand seems to be enjoying the game a lot more by playing with a gamepad, think I'll try hook up a PS3 pad later to see the difference.

Everyone saying about gamepads, is this getting dual platform released onto new ps and the pc? Just seems strange having a pc game which is really aimed toward using a gamepad.

It's coming on the PS3 next year I think.

Gamepad is definitely the way to go with this, it makes the menu system somewhat bearable.

Will give it a go pc/mouse but if its as clunky as people are making out I will invest in the gamepad  Prefer my PC games to be mouse/keyboard :(

Some of the stuff u need is quite expensive, i went the way of the magic arm as i was a ranger but i needed to buy a fishing rod and bait, just got myself a pickaxe so i can do 1 of the beginning quests and i still need to find out what i need to gather the honey, says botanist, also how do u use magic? cant find anyone in Graindia ( sp ) who sells the wand type thing that casters use. Ive been selling everything that ive looted just so i could afford arrows and those additonal items, currently have 2000 gil left.

anyone get this?

Bah, Thought id try this out with a gamepad, what a headache.

I have 3 pads, Official PS3 one, Thats gone off the bat, im not spending hours trying to get that to work.
Mad Catz PS3 pad, thats just been plug and play and worked for me in any other game ive had to use it in, But now, I cant use it, The left analogue stick works perfectly, unless I want to go forward, How convenient.

And an old Gameware pad ive had for about 5 years, This one is annoying though, again used to work, Now for some reason, The normal four face buttons, and the left analogue stick all do the same thing, I move it forward and it presses triangle and so fourth....

This is not going well

Got the PS3 pad working, the difference is very noticable.

It really makes it apparent that this game was made to be played on a gamepad, everything from the movement to the menus feel a lot more natural.

So I've played for a couple of days now.

Done a bit of fishing, a bit of mining and a fair bit of Maraudering. Thing is, I don't seem to have found any instances, just levelquests which I'm now bored of. :p

Anyone point me in the right direction or is there no content in the beta?

How would I go about making a xbox gamepad work on the pc?

Going to get into the beta with a gamepad straight away rather than trying keyboard/mouse

Its fun but I can tell I will need a gamepad to enjoy it fully as it can be a wee bit clunky with keyboard/nouse controls.

One thing though, I am completely miffed about what I should be doing :p I'm just wandering in circles lost as there seems little direction. Hoping I stumble across something which will make things happen for me :D

Playing on whatever the default settings are and have had 0 issues with it running badly.

Liking it so far

edit: Can you zoom the map in/out? Apparently supposed to find some camp or other but it wont show on my map

It's probably camp bearded rock.

Leave the city to the East and head North a bit, you can't miss it...

P.S. move the map around with I,K,J,L or by holding the left mouse button (I think).
