If you save the day of the draw, the draw will always be the same. If you save at least one day before, it changes. Pretty much the draws are locked in at 00:00

I'm not so sure the same happens with game results.

The way it works is that the draw is already made when you go to "view draw" (you just haven't seen it yet). To get a different team you'd have to load a game from a day or so before the draw takes place.

The same goes for all cup competition draws, and presumably the league fixture list at the start of the season too.

At least, that's the way it used to work several versions ago. I guess it hasn't changed since as there's no real point.

My save is 3 days before the draw announcement, so I guess at some point SI made it a week. I've seen this suggested in another forum discussion.

I can perhaps see why they implemented this - for the very reason I'm trying to exploit in this instance; clearly being able to constantly reload a save until you're drawn against the outsiders is going to give a manager an advantage, especially now that there's online leaderboards and such.

But it does raise a worrying question - if the game's drawing cup fixtures silently a week before the actual "draw show", then what else might it be silently deciding in advance?

I'm now tempted to test whether this stealth determinance goes into matches when I play my inevitable games against Dinamo... which I've just twigged is Dinamo Zagreb, innit? Jeez, why couldn't it have been Sheriff or Apoel Nicosia or someone like that [Celtic :p]?
 
Results aren't pre loaded but the draws pick based on seed/rank before hand, ie it has an idea of who's going to get who at he start of the day of the draw but it can still change a bit (spent a little time wondering about this before). Anyway the likely hood of getting the same team is increased with less teams in the draw (naturally) so for the champions league it's quite hard not to get the same team over and over because of the rankings used... (Justifies it in my mind of landing silly teams some times)
 
Won my first 'major' cup competition last night, The League Cup against Tottenham. Have to say Tottenham have been beastly every year since the start of the game.

In the quarter finals of the UEFA cup and have a good chance of a grabbing a Champions League spot (12 games to go). But still a long way off Utd who are league leaders... again!

Really struggled with injuries and squad size this season. The extra cup competition has really played its part in that.
 
I'm starting to get a little 'bored' of my Manchester United save on my PC so I'm starting an Arsenal game on my MacBook Pro for when I'm out and about!

Any tips from Arsenal fans / people who are playing or have played as to them as to the strength of the team / things I need to instantly improve upon? I have a good general idea.

I'll probably spend the rest of today setting the game up :cool:.
 
All I know is on my save, Arsenal won the league in 2014 with just a couple of bought players. Wilshere and Ramsay have turned into 30m player beasts, so I would stick with those 2 in the centre.

Only bought players are M'Vila, Yarmolenko and Davide Santon. Oh and Mourinho is now in charge :(
 
just a quick question, just loaded up football manager 2013 and alls i got was a white screen, did a bit of diging on google and managed to change to software renderd mode and it the screen returned to normal, but when i change back to hardare assisted in the preferences the screen turns whit again. anyone else had this problem? if so how is it fixed
 
What factors dictate work permits? There's a Uruguayan youngster who I think is a perfect fit for my team but the permit fails. I've tried twice, is it worth keep appealing? Anything I can do to force the issue? I'm only league 1 in England at the mo so I don't have a feeder club over there. Also worth mentioning that he was at Chelsea for his entire career before going free agent, don't see why he can't sign for me!

Off the top of my head, he either needs to have appeared in 75% of international matches he was available for, be someone who will improve the standard of the league or be considered an "outstanding prospect".

I find that if a scout says he's likely to get a work permit (on appeal or not), then he gets the work permit. If the scout reckon's he's little chance of a work permit I don't bother.
 
I'm finding signing players to be nigh on impossible with Harrogate at the minute.

3rd season in the Prem and in the Champs League, but I just don't have the cash or the budget to sign players who will improve my squad. The transfer fees they demand or incredible, then the salary they ask for is just out of my league. For the first time I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever be able to win the Prem.

I was given £20m at the beginning of this new season and I couldn't offer a wage of more than 40k to any new signings.

I started a new game with Man Utd and am playing properly this time.

I was unbeaten in around 16 matches until I played Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. I put out a really decent team yet was beaten 2-0! No matter what I did, I couldn't change the game.

This game is puzzling at times.

I too am having puzzlingly annoying times with the game recently, been playing a lot more Skyrim as it was doing my head in.

Even with good fitness levels, decent morale, you just go on a no apparent reason losing streak!
 
But of excitement, had a complete revamp of my enthusiasm for FM at Bishops Stortford and have finished my 11th season there! Won the league, FA cup, club world cup and super cup! :D

So pleased I have the 3 leagues in a row done, so let down I only got to the semi's of the champions league and distraught I have seen one career ending injury for my left winger who was amazing till he missed 8 months to some sort of ligament damage and now he has no pace :(

On the plus I have finally seen a novelty moment where a player leaves their agent after breaking off talks with me :D

Got a few more seasons with them, want an unbeaten league season and probably will see out my contract till a good MLS team opens up or I go for the hero of scotland achievement with a proper 3rd division team...
 
Right!

I am starting a new game. Now every time I have played as Liverpool since the update I have been abysmal!

Going to go the complete other end of the scale with my tactics and see what I can do.

Slow boring footy might prove to be more effective than the quicker more exciting.
 
Just wish we could see a reintroduction of the arse command even if it was for greens only for legal reasons


Totally unrealistic that I don't have players falling out of nightclubs or getting arrested or many of the other unsavoury antics of professional footballers
